Fantastic evening in a great new venue. This band laid down some THICK grooves and strong vocal performance. There was humor throughout, as well as audience participation in the music.
Overall it was a great show. I'm a big Phish fan and love Mike Gordon therefore I'm sure my opinion and review might be a bit asqew from a random's but so be it. It was Gordon's and the gang's kickoff show for the fall tour and they didn't disappoint. It was also the first time that I experienced a show in the new Delmar Hall. It's genius truly is in its simplicity. They didn't over complicate design which allows for a more pure function. Good times! Overall a great show!
Excellent show! The Egyptian Room is a pretty small venue (3-400 ppl), so it was a really intimate setting. Mike really tore it up, playing so older, well-known tunes, along with some newer material. Mike and his band were tight, but the vocals (or at least the sound) could have used just a tad more volume. Other than that, I would highly recommend going to see Mike if you have the chance. I'm planning on seeing Phish in Alpine Valley in August, and can't wait to see Mike rock out with them!
I am a new Phish fan (less than a year) and a bass player, so I jumped at the chance to see Mike Gordon and band play in a small venue close to home, especially since Phish isn't coming near me this summer. I did buy Overstep before the show and really enjoy it. I was happy to hear some songs from it and was surprised how much I ending up enjoying myself while not knowing the other songs (except Phish song Meat which was cool!) or what to expect really as it was my first show of his. The jams were awesome and kept me enthralled! The humor was nice (though I would've liked a bit more of it) and the guys seemed to be having a good time and really going for it, whilst jamming. A great night and a great show! Hope to see Mike Gordon and band again sooner than later!
Mike and his band rocked out, excellent through and through. Top memories: 1) Flaming Lips cover >_< 2) Shockingly great Sugar Shack 3) If i had a ghost living on my street.... 4) LED instruments O_o 5) Light show
I think bass players have the best side projects and MG is no exception. One of the better shows I've seen at Center Stage. can't wait till he comes back. Love him!
I enjoyed seeing Mike Gordon. The House of Blues was a good venue, enough space and easy to get to.
Gordeaux brings the jams! Good time and a great crowd
Everything about the show was awesome. I wish it went all night. It started around 7:30 and got out around 10. But yea.. definitely go.
This show was amazing. Way exceeded my expectations and I would recommend this to anyone!
Mike Gordon tore up the bass in a funky two set show, bringing out guests Ivan Neville and dumpstaphunk for unforgetable night.
Great show, well attended but not packed. The sound and lighting were perfect. The boys brought it.
Sound was great. Mike's voice is pretty spectacular.
This is a great show with extreamly talented people. Go check them out you wont' be disappointed.
Gordon was amazing. He definitely brought the FUNK!! Great venue great atmosphere. 4 straight hours of boogieing
I bought 4 tickets & 2 people couldn't make it so I had 3 extra tickets. I'd been looking forward to the show, so I came anyway! All by myself! I gave away 3 miracle tickets & it was a great show! I danced, danced & danced some more! Mike got all funky grooven, getting down! He is one with his base guitar when he plays! It was awesome just watching him play! I went down to the first stage in front & danced & danced & danced then when to the 2nd dance floor where my new friends were dancing! It was such a great show you could close your eyes & dance, dance dance, like pure energy! It was like the most wonderful therapy because it was so harmonically well done! I plan on enjoying Mike Gordon again when he comes back!
I know, I know, you young kids only need an hour or two's sleep after a show like this... But, with a 50 mile drive after the show and kids, I wasn't able to stay for the whole show...which is too bad because of the encore (Things that make you go HMM). Alphabet Street was definitely the highlight of the show for me, we used to listen to LoveSexy (Prince) all the time when it first come out. Nice surprise! Not sure if Rock On is the Essex version, if so, sorry to have missed that one too...Next time start at 8pm as advertised, not later...
Mike Gordon is a fantastic musician and he and his band showed it at the concert. The Find Line was a superb venue for seeing and hearing the band up close and personal. The sound was very good. They played for a long time. An outstanding value!
Partying at the Bluebird, Bloomington, IN, with Mike Gordon, renowned Phish bass guitarist and his band playing on stage was quite a memorable time. We enjoyed the show. It was an awesome experience, though, we reaally like him with Phish. Being there, to actually be able to watch him perform in a closer setting than in a large arena was the highlight of the show. We could actually experience and watch his talent in a live format. Few people get to be close enough during Phish concerts to be able to see the coordination and talent these musicians produce. Thank you Mike Gordon for putting on a 'great' show in a small place for the small folk out here. : X. : ).
