MICHAEL STANLEY IN CONCERT:
Heartland rocker Michael Stanley made his name in the '70s and '80s with the Michael Stanley Band, a seven-piece outfit of no-nonsense American rock and roll. The band became a huge regional success in the Midwest with chugging blue collar hits like "He Can't Love You" and "In the Heartland," setting several attendance records in the early '80s with their wildly popular arena concerts. Following the 2013 release of The Ride, Stanley hit the road once again with his new band The Resonators, earning rave reviews and drumming up excitement for his 2014 tour dates.
FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:
"Intimate, tight, and a connection w/ the crowd was the essence of this great show."
"Great mix of recent work along with classic tunes from early on. His songwriting is as good as anyone in the business."
"Once again Michael Stanley put together a show that did not cheat the fans out of any of their requests. He played for over 3 hours and covered all eras - old to new."
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Michael Stanley attended college on a baseball scholarship before releasing his self-titled debut album in 1973. The album and its follow-up Friends and Legends were both produced by BIll Szymczyk — fabled producer of The Eagles' seminal 1976 album Hotel California — and featured contributions from Todd Rundgren and Joe Walsh. In 1974, Stanley formed the Michael Stanley band, with which he would achieve his first pop chart success in 1980 with "He Can't Love You." With over 20 albums of material under his belt, Stanley continues to release music and tour with his new backing band the Resonators.
Awesome! As usual, Michael puts on a great show. No disappointment this time either!
Michael Stanley Band is still amazing after all these years! Played a lot of favorites but we were very disappointed that they never played "strike up the band" even after mentioning saving it for the end! BOO!
I have seen Michael Stanley many times and he never disappoints. I thought this was one of his better performances. He played everything the crowd wanted to hear. I wish he would have played a few more from his latest album as I think it ranks right up there with his Classic MSB albums. He just seems to get better as he goes.
Intimate, tight, and a connection w/ the crowd was the essence of this great show Cleveland has a treasure in Michael Stanley. Detroit has Seger and Kid Rock and we have Michael Stanley. The ONLY gripe I had was the crowd was too laid back...and how deft was Michael when he said he was setting goals for himself...and his goal was to get three people sitting in the front row to unfold their arms. C'mon Cleveland get off your butts and show the commensurate love you're getting from a great entertainer. I didn't grow up here but CLE is MY TOWN! Great job Mr. Stanley
Michael has written most of the soundtrack to my life. Forty years and counting of seeing him in concert. I love the banter between songs. You can tell how much he loves to perform and loves the audience that has been with him for decades. Thanks for the memories, looking forward to many more. And yes, after forty years, the man still plays all the hits I want to hear.
Michael's first time playing at Cain Park and it was an awesome show! Great mix of old and new songs with the show lasting over 2 hours. The crowd was a little slow getting into it but by the middle of the show the whole place was up on their feet and singing along. Wish it had lasted a couple more hours. Great venue, hope he plays there every summer.
They rocked the house! Looking forward to more shows at Cain Park!
He was boring and all the songs were not up to tempo. song choices were not good
Great mix of recent work along with classic tunes from early on. His songwriting is as good as anyone in the business. I will be attending his shows as long as he performs which I pray is for a very long time! No one better!
Flashback in time to "The Good Ole Days". The entire show was fantastic.
What a great band, still! Loved the old favorites and loved the new stuff too! The Bee Gees song he did was excellent, such a great voice he still has! But I wish he would have done "Strike Up The Band" for an encore.
Great show. Awesome venue. Michael is still rocking and has been the soundtrack of my life for the past few decades....
this was my first time to visit Cain Park. what a great venue and I will definitely be checking out the schedule on a regular basis to plan on attending other events there.
What an awesome performance. It brought you back to the good ol'days at the Front Row in Mayfield Hts, Ohio. I hope he comes back every summer to Cain Park.
The concert was amazing. Loved the venue and set list. Michael Stanley always puts on a great show. Would like to see him return to Cain Park next year. Would definitely be there.
He and his band sound great . Cain park staff was great
A bit slower paced than it used to be. Still enjoyed watching all the "old" band members up on stage. Still sounded great. Cain Park is a great place to enjoy an event. Been going to a MSB concert for about 35 years and still enjoy it every time.
The wiley old veteren needs to develop flow. Too much talking between songs.
Great time as always. The band rocked, as always. It's a holiday tradition!
the begining and the end of the show saved what was a very boring middle of the show. The fact that they played for 3 hours was great.
