Ok, we know Michael Schenker is a guitar god but, this show with 4 of his former and present singers all with their own short sets and sharing songs concluding with UFO classics was a show not to miss.
I love Michael I always have ever since I saw him at the Capitol Theater way back in 70-something. Absolutely one of the most melodic virtuoso rock guitarist of all time! Seeing him on the 10th was fantastic and he looked clean and sober and the happiest I've ever seen him while performing... but... Having all those MSG singers up there I don't know it didn't quite feel right - it was like a Broadway review maybe because at heart I'm a Phil Mogg fan .. I have a deep longing to see UFO back together again ! Now that would be tremendous! Ted McKenna was amazing on the other hand Chris Glenn- eh... way over the top too loud and the synthesized harmonic on his bottom just didn't work for me. perhaps it was the sound guy but I doubt it ... I mean I appreciate his prowess and his pedigree- and his playing is fine for the MSG material but I thought he massacred the UFO songs and that was disheartening. He just doesn't have the groove and the swing that Pete Way has with Andy. But that's just me I've heard other opinions about performance.. I don't know who the other guitar/ keyboard player is-he was great hung right in there... all in all Mike Schenker the blonde bomber!! what a monster Rock guitar Meister what a great tone. I'm always humbled-WR
Hats off to these guys...still rocking after all these years. Schenker is in his early 60's and you would think he was 23 up there. He played with great enthusiasm and fervor. He definitely is one with that flying V. The best live guitarist I've ever seen and I have seen well over 100 shows. All four vocalist were good , but Robin McCauley was the most impressive. He sounded like it was still 1987. The only changes I would make are adding "On and On" to the setlist and switching up the UFO encore songs a little bit. I realize "Rock Bottom" is a must but I'd like to see more of a rotation. They pretty much play the same UFO songs every year. How about "Let it Roll", "Only you can rock me", "Love lost love", "I'm a loser", "Try me", "On with the Action"? Just to mention a few. Otherwise great show!!!! Bravo
Michael Schenkers Temple of Rock tour was amazing. I was lucky to be able to see him twice and wish it wasn't over. He played all his great songs leaving you wanting more.
Michael Schenker is a legendary rock guitar player and if you are a Scorpions fan, UFO fan or just a straight up rock fan, you won't be disappointed!!
Michael Schenker was at his absolute best. I've seen him multiple times and this was the best he's been. The "Temple of Rock" band is awesome. The singer is a great frontman and he sounds great on all the hits. The Scorpions members on bass and drums are obviously great. They tore through classic UFO, Scorpions, and MSG. songs as well as two or three new ones. The new songs fit right in with the set list. Schenker was flawless and sounded amazing. This line up is top notch. I doubt, either, UFO or Scorpions would sound any better. I fell like I saw the best of both!
Michael Schenker & Don Dokken brought me back to my high school days! The guitars were amazing, as was Michael. He can rip it! All of the band members in Michael Schenker were excellent at their trade. It was definitely loud, but isn't Rock-n-Roll supposed to be? Don Dokken did an acoustic warm-up act. Unfortunately, not a big fan of acoustics. However, he did a great job. I would have rather heard him sing with more band members though. The violinist that he added to the act was amazingly good, and it was a nice break from just guitars. The Canyon in Agoura Hills, CA is a great venue. I had never been there before. Excellent acoustics and seating/standing areas. Bar drinks were a little pricey though!
I never followed Don Dokken, but I showed up with an open mind. Two acoustic guitars and a n unhappy man complaining into a microphone. Some good moments, but pretty unprofessional overall. His other guitarist was just the opposite. We all came to watch Michael Schenker play, and play he did. Ever the perfectionist, and with an incredibly ON NIGHT, Michael tore the place apart.
great show, packed house was fired up. Temple of Rock lineup playing well together. Michael played great. Don Dokken added an acoustic set of some classic Dokken songs.
Micheal still has the skills, great mix of UFO, Scorpions, and new music. The band is very talented. Poor Fat Don Dokken blew during his acoustic set, did nothing but complain about his guitar volume and how tired he was. Angeles nice warm up band, covers and originals. Does anyone know who the 2nd warm up band was??
This was my first Michael Schenker Group experience ever. I mean ever! I have UFO Strangers in the Night. that's it. I've seen Michael on "That Metal Show" with Eddie Trunk a few times. Eddie loves Michael to death and always talks about him on the show. One day I got an e-alert from Ticketmaster informing me of MSG playing in Englewood NJ, BergenPAC. I went on a whim, basically. Thank you ticketmaster. I bought a front row ticket and went on a snowy monday, Martin Luther King Jr's birthday. WOW! this show kicked ass from beginning to end. Doogie, the singer, immediately got the whole crowd on it's feet and the show just took off. Top notch musicians and super nice guys. Posing for photos, waving hello to everybody, and rocking out in our faces. I would recommend seeing MSG to anybody who wants to see some great, kick ass rock and roll! Good minx of MSG, Scorpions, and UFO. The opening band Gundriver kicked ass too and super nice guys also. I'll definitely be seeing MSG whenever they come to the tristate area. Thanks everybody!
Saw Schenker last Saturday night. Great show and the crowd really was into it. If you get the chance to see this guitar icon, go do it.
I hadn't seen schenker play live since 1990 and he has gotten even better today than back then. Excellent show and rest of the band were very good also. Would highly recommend show to anyone else and would go again.
another classic schenker show with new tracks mixed in with msg, ufo & scorpions tunes
it was a moving and awesome show.. Hoping they come back to the area this Spring.
SCHENKER KILLED IT IN CORONA, MUSIC FROM HIS NEW CD , CLASSIC SCORPIONS TO UFO.
Great from start to finish! Opening act Gundriver was excellent as well, you could tell Gundriver is not only very capable of headlining their own tour in the near future but to become a world renowned band. MSG/Temple of Rock of course exceeded all expectations and cannot wait to see them again!(Also worth noting this was MSG with Jones and Holmes who were great fill-ins.)
This was a birthday present for my boyfriend, who as a guitarist, idolizes Schenker. My boyfriend was thrilled and said he is a technical genius, playing exactly as he sounded on his recordings. I was very impressed as well; he used about 4 different v-shaped guitars! The bass player was quite a showman and the singer had a good personality and vocal strength. The drummer and keyboardist nicely rounded out the group.
The man is still the legend, continue to bang your heads my friends.
