MICHAEL FRANTI & SPEARHEAD IN CONCERT:
Rock/hip hop fusion outfit Michael Franti & Spearhead continue to bring the good vibes, putting a new twist on touring with their combination music-and-yoga Soulshine Tour 2014. The energetic performer has made a career out of lifting people's spirits through music, and by adding a yoga session to his concerts he's taken the live experience to a new spiritual plane. Franti is a true showman, and whether he's leading fans through a series of vinyasas or performing favorites like "Stay Human", he creates a mood of love and acceptance at his concerts that make them a truly unforgettable experience.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Oakland-born Michael Franti developed a passion for music and poetry while attending the University of San Francisco. He got his start as a musician in the mid-'80s with the spoken word group the Beatnigs, achieving local notoriety with the project before starting the Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy in 1991. The Disposable Heroes' unique fusion of industrial music and hip hop was a hit with critics -- even attracting the attention of U2's Bono, who invited Franti and Co. to join the iconic band's 1992 Zoo TV Tour. Franti's most enduring success was Spearhead, a reggae and funk-influenced fusion band he formed in 1994 with several studio musicians. Beginning with their full-length debut album Home, Michael Franti & Spearhead released a string of empowering, celebratory albums that were accompanied by uplifting concert tours. While Franti has had his brushes with commercial success, including the Top 20 single "Say Hey (I Love You)" in 2008, his real success has been in his ability to build community and dialog around his music. Franti once again delighted fans in 2014 with the announcement of the Soulshine Tour, which incorporates healing yoga sessions into his musical sets.

Michael Franti did not disappoint! It was an absolutely amazing concert. We brought our 13 year old twins with us and they loved it as well and said it was very uplifting. We all had an amazing night and can't wait until he tours again.
The night was amazing. Michael Franti brings so much love and positive energy to his performance! The night was cool and the music was hot! All the vibes were beautiful. The crowd was in it together and the love was everywhere. I enjoyed myself and my friends all agreed it was one of the best shows of 2023! Thank you Michael Franti & Spearhead for an incredible night I will not soon forget!

Michael Franti was excellent. It was so refreshing to listen to music that was positive and energetic. The Greek Theater was fantastic, all the employees were professional and polite. The whole experience was fantastic!
The concert was a lot of fun! My kids had a blast. The only downside was the price of food. I got a buffalo chicken sandwich for $18.75. It was literally two small chicken strips dipped in a sauce on a small bun. Simply not worth it.
Awesome concert. Most interactive artist I’ve ever seen. It was great to see him down in the audience interacting with the audience. Great show!
The Michael Franti and Spearhead concert was so lively and interactive. It was no stop fun with all the best songs. Lead singer invited seniors on stage to dance and later children to sing and dance. Great show and uplifting music. Looking forward to going to see him perform again.

This was by far the best concert I have ever been to. The energy of the crowd was phenomenal and Michael and his band are upbeat, positive and truly amazing. I will go to every one of his concerts I possibly can.
I have never been to concert that was so fun and that had such amazing vibes. Love how connected it made me feel with not just the music, but everyone else who was there, especially my partner.
If you haven't seen Michael Franti and Spearhead live, do yourself the favor! The shows are a wonderful experience of love, community, and good vibes! And the Rady Shell in San Diego is incredible! Makes it obvious why San Diego is America's Finest City.
A party, entertaining, just a really good feeling and great night, when needed it most. Cannot say enough about how good the experience was. I've got nothing but love for these bands. But especially Michael Franti great charism and just exudes kindness.
Michael Franti is one of my very favorite artists. His message is so positive and loving, inclusive and warm-it’s exactly what the world needs right now. And Soja was amazing. I had not heard them before but they were great.
San Diego Rady Shell - is this the best concert venue in the U.S. of A.??? Michael and Friends were ON all night. Welcoming young and old onto stage was heartening. Wonderful spirit of acceptance we can't find everywhere these days. Grateful!
I’ve have absolutely LOVED Michael Franti’s music for a while now, but never seen him in concert. What an amazing, bonding experience. Michael puts on quite the interactive and upbeat show. I will most DEFINITELY be seeing this wonderful human again in concert! THANK YOU for bringing him here to the Central Coast!!!
Franti and Spearhead always put on such an energetic performance! They sounded great and get everyone in the audience involved.
I've always enjoyed the music of Michael Franti & Spearhead, but they are even more enjoyable live, in person. Mike gets a work out, wandering all over the venue...he must have hugged half of the full 4,000 seat amphitheater by the end of the night. There were so many favorite moments, but the coolest part was when the entire show (including encores) was over, and he brought out every single person involved in his crew for an ovation! Then instead of disappearing to backstage, he simply stepped off the stage and walked right into the remaining fans to chat with them like a normal human being! All 6'6"of him was giving off the best energy, and you could feel the symbiotic relationship between us as his fans and the performers (both on stage, and wandering all over the venue). Very cool show, highly recommended! <3
These guys were great. FANTASTIC! Such a feel good, audience interactive experience. Franti was all over the venue, out in the audience sharing hugs, high fives, letting people sing in his mic. I’ve never seen any show like it. It was so cool. So much LOVE. The audience was super respectful & appreciative of this. I hope it’s like that at all of his shows. He encouraged a lot of meeting of strangers as well as dancing & holding hands. SOJA was EXCELLENT and rocked the house as the opening band & even got Franti to come out & sing one with them. The venue was such a cool place. The sound was AMAZING, all the employees there were super kind & helpful. It was extraordinary. Something I haven’t experienced at a show in years. Loved it all so very much.
