Miami HEAT History

Founded in 1988 as an expansion franchise, the Miami HEAT has since reigned as one of the NBA's premier organizations, laying claim to 16 Southeast Division titles, seven Eastern Conference titles, and three NBA Championships. After hiring renowned NBA coach Pat Riley in 1995, the team won its first Championship in 2006, led by Hall of Famers Shaquille O'Neal, Dwyane Wade, Alonzo Mourning, and Gary Payton. The HEAT then captured back-to-back titles in 2012 and 2013 behind their league-altering trio, “The Big Three,” headlined by Wade, LeBron James, and Chris Bosh. Today, the HEAT continue to build on that legacy, with All-Stars Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro leading a new era of competitive excellence.

We are a family of 4 with two adult kids, not Basketball fans, but eager to experience the game - it was a brilliant evenings enetrtainment Highlights The welcome and help we got on arriving, when they found out we were first timers and from London -They gave us badges:-) The drama created with the visuals and the music

  • Great game, great view but horrible food service

    by gfre12 on 3/23/15AmericanAirlines Arena - MiamiRating: 3 out of 5

We enjoyed the game very much(the parts we got to see at least) and we were on the 4th level but still considered it a great view. After the 1st half, we went to get our food(the papa johns meal deal) . After waiting for 30 minutes and missing half of the 3rd quarter, we finally get to the front of the line and the lady tells us they are out of pizza. I was really disappointed they were not making this announcement to us while we were in line and instead have us wait Till we get to the register. Then they said we should try the 1st level. So my husband sent us back in the stadium and went down to get the food. He missed most of the 4th half while on this search. His experience was not so great when he got there because they were out of pizza there too, so he asked if they could at least comp us with hot dogs and which they reluctantly did. So overall stadium great, game was awesome , traffic was crazy, food stations by far not prepared. Oh, parking worked out great as I purchased our parking tickets online that same day and within 5 minutes walking distance to stadium.

    by Jonesb930 on 3/19/15AmericanAirlines Arena - MiamiRating: 4 out of 5

This was our first time at this venue as well as our first NBA game. My two sons (both 9 yo) and myself had a fantastic first experience. The venue was very nice and conveniently located next to a waterfront shopping/dining area that provided a place to visit before the game.
