Theatre of 3/4th empty, but we had poor sight lines

by Show was great. Venue needs improvements on 3/29/24Meridian Hall - Toronto

I thought the show was great but we were so far back I couldn’t appreciate all the dancing. Also, because of the way our seats were, we couldn’t see what was happening on the right side of the stage. There’s absolutely no reason that every seat in the theatre is unable to give a full view of the stage. This was upsetting. It was also annoying that we had these really bad seats, when 3/4th of the theatre was empty. So the tickets weren’t sold out? Or what exactly happened that we got such bad seats in an empty theatre? Seats weren’t properly elevated either—the lady in front of me blocked my view and we blocked the people behind us. The seats are sooooo cramped. Give people a little room to breathe. I also spent the entire time getting a hole in each leg from the cup holders. What is the point of those? No one can reach their cups if they’re at that angle. I can’t believe it’s $3 for coat check! I’m sorry, but why do I need to pay to hang my own jacket? What a ridiculous rule. Obviously I didn’t do it but then I had to hang onto my giant coat because it was a cold day outside and boiling inside and that further leant to the cramped feeling on the theatre. I received several emails prompting me to come early so there wouldn’t be a bottle neck at entry, and then we spent so much time standing and waiting for the doors to open. We could have been let inside earlier to be seated. And there was no order to being let in, there was a bottle neck because entry is disorganized. Bathrooms were nice though. What’s the point of such a giant hall full of seats if you can’t see anything after a certain point?

    A message well received.

by Alejandro on 3/29/24Meridian Hall - Toronto

My wife and I enjoyed the show at Meridian Hall in Toronto. We particularly loved the new musical arrangements for Sting's career songs and the lighting production.

    Great overall performance

by Lauren on 3/26/24Meridian Hall - Toronto

I attended this performance on March 23. My husband and I enjoyed this performance. The music and staging were done very well and the costuming and lighting were creative. The story line matched the music however, we were a little lost in the second half with what was happening with the characters. Thee dancers technical skills were top notch and we would have loved to see some more dance styles included throughout the show rather than the same hip hop/contemporary fusion throughout. We would see again and recommend to others! Great show :)

Such an emotional & moving experience.

by Lelet on 3/26/24Meridian Hall - Toronto

The choreography was exquisitely telling a story so many of us can relate to either directly or through our ancestral stories or watching what is unfolding around our tiny world. So touching. The dancers so expressive and incredibly talented and beautiful to watch. I don’t believe I cried and relished in emotional happenings of a show this way. A must see.

The sound, lighting, choreography and dancers created an unforgettable evening. If anyone ever said you can’t dance to Sting’s music……I may never go to another dance show. Kate Prince is truly a genius. Congratulations!!!❤️

Message in a Bottle - Brilliant

by Mary GC on 3/24/24Meridian Hall - Toronto

Finally, this spectacular creative performance of music and dance came to Toronto. I have been waiting for so long since it first performed in London UK. Our Thursday night performance was an amazing production of dance, movement, energy, visual staging, storytelling through Sting's music and lyrics. From the beginning to the end, it was outstanding, electric, emotional and moving. Everything about Message in the Bottle with the dancers and the lyrics by Sting was perfection. Masterful. Our Thursday night audience, presented all the performers with 3 standing ovations. Should it return to Toronto, I will see it a 2nd or 3rd time. Brilliant!!
