Absolutely great event. The only distraction was the late arrival of Rakim. The DJ was off the chain and kept the crowd entertained while we waited. Good value for the money spent.
the concert was Awesome!!!!!! Everyone was on point! LOVED MC Lyte and BDK!! I truly recommend this concert. The only down fall was Rakim coming on stage SUPER late.
Every artist was a blast from the past. My husband & I enjoyed ourselves for our date night.
This was the best concert I've been to in a very long time! I've been to quite few, but this one set it off! Great Hip Hop legends. Looking forward to next year. However, there was one sour spot. Rakim came out way too late! So late, in fact, I had already left. However I am realizing from several Facebook posts that this was the best thing to do. I've seen several mention that he seemed lethargic and not interested at all! I'm glad I missed that. I would have rated five stars with ease had it not been for that moment or that artist. Of course it's a shame because I love Rakim. I'm looking forward to seeing who will be on the lineup next year!
I loved the I rock the mic tour. I loved every artist that performed. I would love to see this concert happen again. Maybe add KRS One.
I loved the concert up until the EXTENDED wait time for Rakim... I ended up leaving and to think he was actually the Artist I most wanted to see... I did find out later he had the audience waiting for over an hour which was even more frustrating. Luckily, M.C. Lyte, Kane, and The Get Fresh Krew held it down for Chitown! I enjoyed myself but REALLY DISAPPONITED IN THE "R"
Best concert of all time!!!!!! Each artist did their thing!!! It a was a complete party all the way through, except the end with Rakim being about an hour late!! All in all I was completely wowed!

The I Rock The Mic Concert in Chicago was bananas. I def got my money's worth and then some. All the artists Crucial Conflict, Mc Lyte, Big Daddy Kane, Doug E Fresh, Slick Rick, and the late comer Rakim definitely left it all on the stage. We went to a hiphop concert and a party broke out.
It was a great show. My only issue was missing the last act which I hear did not come out until an hour after the previous act. The promoter and ticket holders should be compensated for that lack of professionalism.
Overall, the show was great! DJ Squeeze rocked it in between the acts and had us going way back and rocking to old hip hop music that you gotta love and I admit I miss today. MC Lyte was the highlight of the evening, although I expected her to end the show. Big Daddy Kane showed that although he is in his 40's he still got it. Doug E. Fresh, this man could have had a show all on his own. They don't call him the human beatbox for nothing! That man can make any beat or sound with his voice..Amazing!! Crucial Conflict opened the show and I gotta say they were my favorite. Being from the west side of Chicago, I was pumped up to see them. They sung all their hits and still sounded the same as when they first came out. Totally had the crowd rocking it! My only complaint was Rakim. He was the last act. He was 40 minutes late and when he finally came on stage he was on for 10 minutes. A lot of people had already left since it was a Sunday night and I wish I would have too.
The concert was great. They kept the crowd going until the end when it took Rakim too long to come out
I enjoyed every moment of I rock the mic tour. MC Lyte is my all time favorite she's one of the best females to rock the Mic. I rock the Mic takes me back to when I first fell in love with hip hop.
Great concert. As usual Rakim was disappointing. He showed up late when he performed at The Shrine Chicago and performed all of 20 mins. Now he does it again. If he doesn't want to rap no more, its cool, it was fun while it lasted. This is his profession. You would think he would act accordingly. Definitely won't go see him if hes on the bill again. Otherwise, awesome!
The concert was off the chain!!! Every act that I saw was excellent!! When Rakim was late (at first) the DJ took over and rocked it almost as good as the acts. We waited until 10:30pm i believe and decided to leave because we both had to go to work the next morning, but it would have set the concert off if Rakim had been there. Next time......maybe you can get LL Cool J to join the group!!! Thanks!
Had a great time. The music kept me on my feet the ENTIRE night! All performers showed up and showed out! Especially Yo Yo who rocked the house with and without musical accompaniment. The venue was cozy enough to see all performers and the drink were reasonably priced.
This was a surprise for my husband for our wedding anniversary, he loves old school but was really disapointed at the lackluster performence.each performers only had 30 mins to squeeze in all their greatest hits and it got worse as it person came on..we left early
Fun, fun, fun!!! Lyte, Doug E and Kane still got it and they all look good!
Drove 4hours to see the show and it was worth every minute.
I had a BLAST 8months pregnant and all! If you LOVE Hip Hop and attended this event there was no way you did not enjoy yourself, even the opening acts were great!
