Mauricio Ochmann on Tour
Mauricio Ochmann is a Mexican-American telenovela actor, best known for his roles in TV, film, and stage. Born in Washington, D.C., in 1977, Ochmann grew up in Mexico with his adoptive mother and eventually relocated to Los Angeles, where he studied acting at the Joanne Baron Studio of Santa Monica.
Ochmann got his first acting opportunity at 16 when he appeared on the TV show "La Otra Cosa" starring Héctor Suárez. In the late '90s, Ochmann appeared in the film Message In A Bottle starring Kevin Costner and Robin Wright. After that, Ochmann returned to Mexico, where he starred in his first telenovela titled Azul Tequila, which premiered in 1998. The following year, Ochmann starred in the telenovela Háblame de amor.
Around this time, Ochmann also appeared onstage, including a production of Equus, for which he won the "Actor Revelation in Theater" award by the National Association of Theater Critics.
In 2000, Ochmann returned to Los Angeles, where he starred in a comedy-drama series called "That's Life." Later, he appeared opposite Lorena Rojas in the telenovela Como en el cine (2001). Other early career appearances include the 2003 telenovela Mirada de mujer, el regreso (the sequel to Mirada de mujer), the 2005 thriller Ver, oír y callar, the 2005 telenovela Amarte así, Frijolito, and more.
Beginning in 2006, Ochmann appeared in a spate of projects, including more telenovelas (Victoria, Victorinos, El sexo débil). In 2012, Ochmann appeared in the telenovela Rosa diamante, followed by El Señor de los Cielos, which earned him several Telemundo awards nominations. (In 2015, he won Telemundo's "Best Bad Boy" award.
After wrapping El Señor de los Cielos, Ochmann starred in the 2015 film A la mama. In 2016, he appeared in the American series Easy. Around this time, he also reprised his character from El Señor de los Cielos in the series spinoff, El Chema.
More recently, Ochmann appeared in the 2020 Mexican black-comedy series "R," where he played the main role of Francisco "Franco" Barrón. He also recently appeared in the 2022 road comedy ¿Y Cómo Es Él?', a Mexican adaptation of the Korean film Driving With My Wife's Lover.
