  • mason jennings was just ok

    by jmarsh2085 on 6/20/10Variety Playhouse - AtlantaRating: 2 out of 5

it had to be the shortest concert I have ever seen. if he plays someplace close and you have a hour, because that is all he played that night. Very disappointed in the show

  • BEST SHOW EVER

    by Kenny214 on 6/20/10Variety Playhouse - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

mason put on an amazing show last night! at first i was a little disappointed that he wasnt going to have a back up band so he could play his newer, rocker songs, but the solo performance blew me away! The Field was for sure the best song, sung with such passion and heart. I wish that the whole world could hear his music and appreciate it because it really touched my heart.

  • Mason Jennings was a-MAZING!!!

by SEJY on 6/20/10Variety Playhouse - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Mason Jennings was an amazing show!!! His opening act, Julia Nunes, was quite the musician, also! Both artists told stories about the songs they were performing and why they wrote them, a must in my opinion. They both were completely acoustic and sounded phenomenal!!!

  • Intimate Show

by OneManWolfpack on 6/20/10Variety Playhouse - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Loved the acoustic set. Mason was actually able to talk about his songs and what inspired them. Seen him four times so far, keeps getting better. You rock Mason!

  • Mason Jennings @ The Ark - Ann Arbor

by Rubidiumm on 4/11/10The Ark - Ann ArborRating: 5 out of 5

Mason rocked this small, cozy hall in Ann Arbor for 90+ minutes --- just him and his guitar. Virtuoso level guitar player, touching, poignant lyricist, this show was easily the best live show I've ever seen. Do yourself a favor and see him if he comes to your town!

  • Mason at The Ark superb!

    by CC4Ryder on 4/11/10The Ark - Ann ArborRating: 5 out of 5

Couldn't have started out better than "Lil Fighter Girl" as it was the first song that introduced me to Mason Jennings and his suberb lyrical writings . He played 3 pieces almost straight thru before he had to give it up to a cough for a second. Amazing energy, interesting stories, excellent guitar skills. He came back for a welcomed encore which was sooo appreciated. Would have liked to have heard Blood of Man, but hey, there is only so much time. btw: The Ark in Ann Arbor MI is a wonderful venue for an intimate setting with a good sound stage.

  • Mason Jennings did not disappoint

by Anonymous on 4/10/10The Ark - Ann ArborRating: 5 out of 5

Mason did a solo acoustic set at the intimate Ark theater. The sound quality was excellent and his voice was in fine form. His pared down versions of his later songs were more haunting than the originals. Great set.

  • Mason was Amazing

by SwitchJohn on 4/10/10The Ark - Ann ArborRating: 5 out of 5

I have seen Mason at DTE and the Magic Bag. Watching just him and his guitar at the Ark was awesome. Very small cozy venue. He did a little story telling about each song and what his inspiration was. Makes him look like he is more human and down to earth. I would go again tonight if he was playing.

  • Mason Jennings was shining!

    by BettyAnn8 on 4/10/10The Ark - Ann ArborRating: 5 out of 5

I've seen Mason Jennings a couple times before, performing with a band, but this experience was like no other. The Ark in Ann Arbor has always been a favorite venue of mine since I first saw a show there in 2002, because it is so intimate and the Ann Arbor crowd is generally warm and kind, and the venue is run entirely by volunteers. Mason seemed very comfortable (like he was in his living room, he said, and we were all just catching up), and played a very sweet solo set that wasn't full of all-new songs trying to promote an album. His stories and comments between songs were heartfelt and funny, and he remains to be a charming and pure songwriter and performer of the years.

The Mason Jennings show at the Orpheum Theater in Sioux Falls was wonderful! I had never had the chance to see Mason headline a show, my life is now complete!!! His songwriting abilities are amazing, his voice soothing and his musical talents top notch. He played a perfect mix of his old and new material.

  • Mason Jennings deserves our respect!

by AssistantDirector on 3/19/10Sioux Falls Orpheum Theater - Sioux FallsRating: 5 out of 5

Mason Jennings's, solo show at the Orpheum Theater in Sioux Falls stripped down to just a man, a guitar and an occasion harmonica truly showcased one of the top songwriters of our time. Mason Jennings's vocal styling from the lighter fun songs true fans sing along with to his darker, more introspective songs all showcase an artist more people need to discover. There are many reasons many NYC and LA writers are calling Mason Jennings one of the best artists you may have never heard of even though he has been in recent years signed to Sony's Epic records. He really is a tremendous talent that still hasn't fully found the audience he deserves. True music fans also deserve to hear Mason Jennings!

Mason loved being there. two encores, including a very seasonal "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" the Pines were a great opener too. Mason's latest album is the best his live music has ever been. simply rocking.

  • Mason Jennings... solid again

by hamsammich on 12/21/09First Avenue - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

I've seen Mason Jennings twice at first ave and both times were a great concert. When he comes back, I will go again! I highly recommend this show to anyone who enjoys live music and music that tells a story.

  • Came to Play

by duner on 12/21/09First Avenue - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

I've seen Mason several times before and this was his best performance. His stage presence was the best I have ever seen. Seemed as if he has really started embracing the idea he is a star and he put out a hell of a performance. The song list was amazing as well, he played old and new and Mason and that is always a good thing. Looking forward to the next show!
