About

For more than 32 years, political satirist Mark Russell has been entertaining Ford’s audiences with material ripped from today’s headlines. This year, Russell returns to Ford’s just as the presidential election cycle heats up. Known for skewering Democrats and Republicans alike, Russell’s unique brand of comedy earned him the Mark Twain Award for political comedy and has made him a popular favorite on PBS. Long before Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert, there was Mark Russell, daring to joke and sing of the often absurd political process.

What a great opportunity to see Mark Russell again

by Polt on 2/20/13Ford's Theatre - Washington

He was right on the mark and we enjoyed every moment of the show. His wit is still as sharp as it ever was. Sometimes I get so depressed about current events, but it felt good to belly laugh instead. I know he deserves his retirement, but we miss him so much. Thank you for Coming out of retirement once in a while to give us a political humor fix.

    An Evening with Mark Russell

by TheNuke on 2/20/13Ford's Theatre - Washington

An Evening with Mark Russell is time well spent with friends. If you like clever and intelligent conversation with a man tht can rivel John Stewart (without the writers) then you will not be disapointed. I have been going to see Mr.Russell for over 15 years and he was on top of his game and left no party un touched. Thank You for a great night.

An Evening with Mark Russell at Ford's Theater

by PoliticalJunkie on 2/20/13Ford's Theatre - Washington

I have seen one other Mark Russell performance live, and he did not disappoint. He is truly a special person, with his sharp wit and fresh material. I only wish I could be going so strong when I am 80!

    Mark Russell was fabulous!!

    by 50on50 on 1/8/13Birchmere - Alexandria

I loved his shows in the past and this was his best yet. Mark was the most witty, entertaining, energetic and current as I have ever seen. There were people of all generations at the show and the belly laughter was palpable! I started to write that he is the Mick Jagger of comedy but I think it more appropriate to say Mick is the Mark Russell of music. Whatever their secret, they need to bottle it. Every year just gets better.

    Mark Russell was on fire!

by Anonymous on 1/8/13Birchmere - Alexandria

Wow. Russell's retirement revived his wonderful wacky side in a supercharged way. The new songs were great, the political pointedness as sharp as ever, the jokes right on. His timing and facial expressions were Russell at his best. He seemed totally at ease and could have been enjoying himself even more than the audience. Glad he reached back and did a couple of the old standards. Grace Kelly definitely should have chosen him over that old prince!
