    Margot ROCKED

by Anonymous on 7/16/12The Basement - Columbus

The two openers were pretty forgettable. The first band, Strangers In Daylight, weren't too bad but Winter Makes Sailors just didn't do it for me. This was my second time seeing Margot, the first being when CD101 day, which was slightly disappointing because their set was so short. But from New York City Hotel Blues to The Christ, they did not disappoint. They played a good mix of new songs and old hits, but with their new cd having just been released they played a lot off that album. Richard's voice was near perfect, aside from a few cracks here and there, but I didn't mind. His voice was much grittier than on their albums. Epecially on the song Ocean, which was probably my second favorite song of the night. The first being Payphone, a song that they only play live and rarely at that (AMAZING!). Plus i have discovered that steel guitar and the violin makes everything sound better. That's a fact. I had no idea how small The Basement was until i got there. I'm glad I got to see them in such a personal setting. I would definitely see them again.

If you are even the slightest fan of Margot and the Nuclear So and So's, I highly recommend attending one of their concerts.

    margot is amazing!

by KeniaC on 4/13/12Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn

Music hall of williamsburg is a great venue to see a band like margot and the nuclear so and so.'s. I had an amazing view from the balcony. I usually am one to be apart of the main crowd but i wasn't in the mood that night. Margot is an amazing band. They engage the crowd, they're energetic. some of their songs really moved me! They know exactly when to speed up the tempo or when to play a slow song. This band is really talented. I became so jealous whenever one of them played the violin because i feel like it should be me playing the violin! I love the violin and any band that incorporates it into their music usually grabs my attention. It was epic.

    Rocked my Socks off!

by Ramrunner on 4/13/12Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn

The opening act began with Writer. The two-brother band kicked off the night with amazingly raw and killer songs. Heavy on the drummer beats, their songs immediately caught the audiences attention. Next up was the wonderful Ezra Furman, who was the gem of the evening. His unbelievable stage presence and poetic disposition threatened the remaining virginity of the audience. His cover of Mr. Postman projected the dynamic change in the mood and his classic "Take off your sunglasses" was awesome as ever. Then for the headlining act of MARGOT AND THE NUCLEAR SO AND SO's, well words can't really describe the ravishing sounds that was projected when the group breezed onto the stage, but if I had to pick a few, it'd probably be fucking and amazing. With ravishing harmonies and kick-ass new songs from their latest album Rot, Mess, Nuclear the band made for an amazing night comparable to a tickle pillow fight with Angels

    Margot has it going on!

by ToeKneeJam on 6/3/11The Bishop - Bloomington

A great band. Yes, lineup changes have occurred, but I think the new sound is great, too. Artists need to be able to experiment and grow. The new line-up is fresh. Keep it up!

    absolutely horrible!

by smashleyash on 3/1/11The Vogue - Indianapolis

The "NEW" margot and the nuclear so and so's show was horrible and very forgettable. Their sound is so cliche, and sounds just like every other suck ass garage band. I have NO idea why the lead singer would replace everyone in the band, or anyone for that fact. This was the second show I've seen, the first with the original band and it was absolutely amazing! BRING BACK THE WHOLE BAND, GET RID OF THE FOOLS THAT YOU HAVE IN THE BAND NOW. THERE IS NOO WAY THAT BAND WILL EVER GO ANYWHERE...

They got a late start and we had to wait outside in the freezing cold until 45 minutes after the show was supposed to start, the sound was awful, the opening bands were almost unbearable and it was overall very unpleasant.
