Marcy Playground New York City
by DeadlyHandsomeMan on 9/29/09B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New YorkFor a long-devoted Marcy fan like myself it was great to finally see them live. Good song selection with about half from the new album. I expected a bigger crowd but glad not to have to fight my way towards the stage. The sound quality was average for guitars. Cover of Cohen's "Hallelujah" was surprisingly very good. The obligatory "Sex and Candy" was uninspired and the low point which was just fine with me. I'd have to say the musicianship, specifically the drumming was the best part of the live experience. I'd love to see Marcy again and again. Honestly, Jimmie's Chicken Shack played a much better show and earned themselves a new fan last night.
