Marcus Mumford on Tour

Marcus Mumford is a British-American singer, multi-instrumentalist and producer best known for his many years performing with folk-rock greats Mumford & Sons.

Born in 1987 in Yorba Linda, California, Mumford moved back to the UK with his family as a baby and grew up in Wimbledon Chase, London. While studying at King's College School, he met future bandmate Ben Lovett. In his first year at the University of Edinburgh, he recorded Mumford & Sons' standout debut album Sigh No More (2009), which featured singles "Little Lion Man," "Winter Winds," "The Cave," and "Roll Away Your Stone."

Prior to that, Mumford (along with other members of his band) toured with Laura Marling, with Mumford on percussion.

Two years after the release of Sigh No More, Mumford made Forbes' 30 Under 30 list, which also included Adele and Rihanna that year. Mumford & Sons have released three more albums: 2012's Babel, 2015's Wilder Mind and 2018's Delta.

In 2013, Mumford contributed a cover of the folk classic "Fare Thee Well (Dink's Song)" for the 2013 period film Inside Llewyn Davis. In 2014, Mumford appeared on the collaborative album Lost on the River: The New Basement Tapes alongside other artists such as Elvis Costello, Rhiannon Giddens, Taylor Goldsmith, Jim James, Jay Bellerose, and T Bone Burnett.

As a producer, Mumford has produced Christian Letts' (Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros) 2015 album Hold Fast. He also co-wrote four tracks for the record: "Copper Bells," "La Mer," "Emeralds," and "Matches."

Mumford has also contributed instrumentals to a number of tracks from his contemporaries, including on Taylor Swift's "Cowboy Like Me" (from 2020's Evermore) and Tom Morello's 2018 track "Find Another Way." His vocals are featured on Major Lazer's 2020 song "Lay Your Head On Me." He also wrote the theme song for the hit TV show "Ted Lasso," which premiered on Apple TV+ in 2020.

In July 2022, Mumford announced his debut solo album Self-Titled would be out that fall. Produced by Blake Mills, Self-Titled features guest spots from Brandi Carlile, Phoebe Bridgers, Clairo, and Monica Martin. Its lead single is "Cannibal," which has a video directed by Steven Spielberg.

    Excellent show

by MJ on 10/4/22The Fillmore - San Francisco

Marcus was awesome. He played solo on the acoustic, and the songs were wonderful. Then the band came out, and each player was amazingly talented. Exciting music-to sweet and sometimes intense solo playing. Great lyrics to new songs!

    Amazing show, amazing artist

by ECR on 9/30/22Paramount Theatre - Seattle

Marcus is amazing. His voice. His music. This was his first solo album/tour (Mumford and Sons) and though the vibe was different it was still phenomenal! Check him out if you haven’t!

    Marcus is an amazing writer

by daddyfats on 9/29/22Paramount Theatre - Seattle

I thought the show was very good. Marcus is an amazing writer and artist - this I truly believe. He can hold a stage on his own with just a guitar and his voice - Pretty amazing. The show was mostly his solo album which is fun to hear new stuff. I was let down by not hearing some older mumford and sons stuff. He played 4 songs all slow and then his solo album which quite a few were slow. So the entire concert felt a little slow for me.

    Real. Engaging.

by Lambyluke on 9/29/22Paramount Theatre - Seattle

Extraordinary performance by a talented lyricist and musician. He spoke about understanding rooms of people, and he certainly does, as we came to better understand him. His songs and his banter ranged between quietly personal and bravely roaring. A must see. Repeatedly, if possible.
