Lot's of potential but just missed the mark!!

by MadRad6 on 11/5/14Talking Stick Resort - Scottsdale

I'll start with the good: Talking Stick is a great location with much more than just the Halloween party. This event had some of the best costumes I've seen in awhile. Great vibe people were excited to mingle and make new friends Now the bad which unfortunately out weighs the good TICKET PRICES WERE WAY TOO HIGH! This caused a lower than I would expect turn out. If they wanted to fill the place is they had priced accordingly say $35-45, I'm sure they would have had twice the attendance. I know 8 out of the 10 people in my group bailed on this event because of the price. DON'T play electronic music all night. The DJ's you had, did not know how to work the crowd. Every time they played something that was more Pop (ie Thriller) the dance floor would get jammed and then the very next song they would go back to EDM and the crowd would wain again. Had they paid attention to the needs of the audience they would hav noticed that 3/4 of the people were not dancing at all. Halloween us the type of event that brings people out that wouldn't normally go dancing and then you play EDM which to them sounds like one long song all night long!!! Sometimes people want dance to music with words!!!

The event was fun, and it had potential to be a really good event. But I felt that there was too much space and not enough people to fill it. With the main ballroom, the 2 outdoor lounge areas, the other ballroom, and then the entire hallway. It was just too big of an area and not enough people. Maybe condense the size of the venue for next year.

Complete waste of time and $

by meowmommy on 11/3/14Talking Stick Resort - Scottsdale

There was nothing wicked about this lame excuse for a Halloween party. The music pretty much consisted of one irritating, repetitive beat all night. The sparsely populated main ballroom (along with most areas, except the drink lines, which also took forever) was uneventful, with people standing around seemingly hoping for a sliver of a song they recognized. Back to the drinks, most of the bartenders seemed like amateurs with no personality that had no interest in being there. We also attempted to crash the less expensive Halloween party the hotel was hosting in hopes of some redemption, but were advised at the door the enviorment was equally disappointing. We finally ended up at the hotel's club, which was tiny, but the music was better. Overall, a serious booooooo to the Talking Stick's attempt at a Halloween party.

$60 to stand in a mostly empty ballroom - save your money. This was such a huge disappointment. Drinks were expensive as well. The DJs played crappy techno music the whole night. Seriously. Save your money and just go to Old Town Scottsdale, or anywhere else!
