    Terrible

by Mpty on 2/15/20Au-Rene Theater at the Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

Browsed center acoustics are horrible. We were in the 5th row and had trouble understanding the words. His choice of songs could have been better. He has a beautiful voice but it sounded like he was singing into a big metal drum A total waste of money.

    Very disappointing event

by Shar on 2/15/20Au-Rene Theater at the Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

We were looking forward to the show, paid a high price for good seats ! Then when the show started it had such a BAD sound system, we could not understand what Mandy was even singing or saying. This was the very first time we actually walked out of a show !! Definitely would not recommend this performance to anyone, and we love going there. What a waste of money !

Took much of the same thing

by DoctorTZ on 2/15/20Au-Rene Theater at the Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

Mandy Patinkin is truly an amazing performer with a wide range of talent; this is why I was a somewhat disappointed with the overall performance the other evening. There were joyous moments as well as some sad but powerful ones during his performance, but there were too many operatic like songs, and not enough funny or lively songs and discussion. I was expecting a variety of songs, but most were long, drawn and the same.

    A Delightful Evening!

by D. Roujansky on 2/15/20Au-Rene Theater at the Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

Any Mandy Patinkin performance is a wonderful experience. His versatility, talent and personality can't be beat. "Diaries" tells a story of his life through various songs. Many of the songs, the audience is unfamiliar with as they are not necessarily popular songs. If you are coming to hear Mandy's old standards, you won't hear them. As with us all, we are aging and so is Mandy, but his spirit, song, philosophy, passion, causes and love of life lives on. I would highly recommend seeing Mandy anytime! The venue was the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. A wonderful place for music, Broadway or just a night out!

    So depressing

by Ka on 2/15/20Au-Rene Theater at the Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

He put an incredibly dark spin on almost every song he sang. I used to be a huge fan. I’m done!

    Eclectic, yet Classic

by MyxVu on 2/13/20McCoy Center - New Albany

Strike a pose! With nothing more than basic three point lighting and a stand lamp with a single bulb on stage, a grand piano, a pianist, and a chair, Mandy Patinkin was extremely charming, entertaining, and enjoyable in his 90 minute set at the McCoy Center in New Albany on this Saturday night. Singing standards, ditties, and novelties, he was in full voice, interacting with the crowd as he sat on the side of the stage, or singing gibberish and starting over at one point, dropping an F-bomb and saying that it was the venues gala that night, "they're all drunk, anyway!" He started again and purposefully made it through the song, taking an exaggerated bow at the end. The moment of the evening was his one man version of the complete "Bohemian Rhapsody" made famous by Queen - it simply brought the house down, and did his version of "Over the Rainbow," which many years ago on a long gone talk show he sang to rave reviews [he can still hit the high notes at age 64]. Whether you know him from "Chicago Hope," "Criminal Minds," or "Homeland," he can still belt a tune, and entertain you with his satire or story-telling. A wonderful evening.

Love the man, perfermance...hmmm not so much

    by T. J. on 2/12/20McCoy Center - New Albany

I love Mandy Patinkin the man, the actor. Homeland is one of my favorite shows, and in the past, I've loved his singing. For some reason, this performance wasn't what we were used to. His voice has gotten a little gravelly and the themes of the songs were depressing. We didn't recognize most of the songs, but we liked the enhancement on the screen to illustrate the topic of the song. He didn't talk much and if I hadn't seen him before, I wouldn't know much about him. His piano player was above excellent, and really had my attention more than the singing. Sorry, Mandy. Still love you!

    Didn’t know what to expect.

by Concert goer on 2/11/20McCoy Center - New Albany

I really went in blind. I had no idea what he did or how he entertained. I liked it. Could have been better. More recognizable songs or more stories.

    Mandy Patinkin unplugged

by YOC on 2/10/20Fisher Theatre - Detroit

Mandy Patinkin demonstrates his range as a stage performer who honed his skills on Broadway in this one-man show. Diaries is a funny - serious monologue filled with stores, and music. His songs include original compositions that compliment his stories as well as some interesting covers.

    Classic cantor

    by JCF3 on 2/9/20Fisher Theatre - Detroit

Mr. Patinkin gave a marathon one man show for an intense two hours, singing a broad range of music from "You've Got Trouble" (from Music Man) to "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen to an emotional piece he wrote himself. Phenominal venue with a scary orchestra pit!

Mastery of Voice; Dark Repertoire; Limited Storytelling

by LFA on 1/31/20The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

Mandy Patinkin has an incredible voice and exhibits great mastery of his gift. I think going in I had different expectations. I found the selection of songs to be rather dark -- focused on aging, death, and lost love. I think I would have appreciated the selection more if there were some stories interspersed. There was really little connection between Mandy and the audience. That said I am happy that I saw him live from the third row and appreciate his talent!

    Loved It

by Linda on 1/26/20The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

Mandy is one of those performers that you just feel you can relate to. Not only is he a fabulous actor his voice is beyond. I would have loved to hear more Yiddish songs but the one he did sing brought tears to my eyes! This was the only time I have ever seen him in stage. But I loved him in all the tv shows and movies I have seen him in. I hope I get to see him another time.

by Clancy on 1/26/20The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

Mandy has a beautiful, Opera quality voice and feels what he sings. He performed a very diverse song selection - from Queen, Lyle Lovett, broadway musicals, his own creations... A very warm and charming personality. Absolutely loved the show.

    Disappointed

by ChattyCathy on 1/26/20The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

Mandy Patinkin still has the voice, but his performance last Thursday was disappointingly lackluster. He goofed up the opening song lyrics which at first seemed funny but then he actually forgot the lyrics for another song later in the show and needed prompting from his piano player Adam. At one point he was so tired he actually laid down on the floor for a couple of minutes. This was a planned concert that is part of a tour not a last minute fundraiser. I felt he should have been better prepared physically and mentally.

Gotta give them phones a rest folk. You're not that importan

by Carl on 1/26/20The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

Mandy was fantastic! The theater was a bit chilly. We were seated on the main floor towards the rear. loud talking from the lobby . Flagged down an usher who took care of it. A lot of people seemed to be leaving their seats, phone in hand, and heading to the lobby. Very distracting with the back and forth. but again, Mandy was really great.

    The Mandy

Excellent performance: tones, tunes, phrasing, pitch, engagement factor, piano player, anecdotes, and length.
