Lyfe Jennings in Concert
Lyfe Jennings Live
Over a series of powerfully compelling releases since 2004, Lyfe Jennings has established himself as one of the R&B world's most unique artists, one who's able to reflect on his experiences in life and love with rare honesty and authenticity.
Audiences have seen these qualities in Jennings ever since the then-unknown, Toledo-born singer grabbed their attention by winning five straight nights of an amateur competition at New York's legendary Apollo Theater in 2002. His first major chart success came in 2006 with "S.E.X.," a thoughtful duet with LaLa Brown that made an earnest and timely statement about choosing love above other temptations.
Released in 2019, Jennings' seventh studio album 777 is another showcase of his exceptional talent and versatility as a vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter. Whether performing solo or teaming with guests like Algebra Blessett on the tender "Tell Me" and Tank on the sultry "Like This," Jennings bares his heart with a directness and vulnerability reminiscent of the artists who most inspired him, a list that includes Erykah Badu and D'Angelo as well as icons such as Al Green and Curtis Mayfield. His live performances prove he belongs in that same artistic lineage.
Lyfe Jennings Background
Raised in Toledo, Ohio, Lyfe Jennings had an early start in music, performing in his church choir and in a family group called the Dotsons. After experiencing hard times in his youth, he decided to change his life's direction by pouring his energy into performing and writing. A five-night string of victories in the Apollo Theater's amateur competition in 2002 brought him to the attention of the music industry.
Released in 2004, Jennings' debut album Lyfe 268-192 was praised for his poignant and authentic brand of contemporary R&B and gritty old-school soul. It earned him his first Top 10 entry in Billboard's R&B/Hip-Hop albums chart. Combining his debut's thoughtful social commentary and softhearted balladry with tougher hip-hop tracks featuring Three 6 Mafia and Young Buck, Jennings went all the way to the top of the Billboard 200 with 2006's The Phoenix.
Jennings has impressed critics and wowed audiences with the depth and versatility he displays on such albums as 2010's I Still Believe and 2019's 777. In 2018, Jennings toured the US as a special guest of Brian McKnight before continuing to perform nationally as a headliner.
Show was very nice and entertaining at a small and intimate venue. Good night out
This venue is fantastic. Its small & intimate. The sound is amazing. Lyfe Jennings never disappoints! His opening act was really good as well. If you haven't seen him in person, you're missing out!
Lyfe Jennings was amazing as always! Very intimate setting, and he interacted well with his audience. Voice is still so soulful and beautiful!
Lyfe Jennings did NOT disappoint us. He was fantastic. Also, thank you for introducing us to D'Mott. This show was one the best I seen in 2023, besides Mary J Blige!! Hope you come back soon.
Great show!! I’ve seen Lyfe Jennings twice prior & this was my favorite!! The setup at Ludlow Garage made the concert more personal. Lyfe’s energy & collaboration with the fans was fabulous! Can’t wait until next time!!
Great show, wasn’t long enough! Lyfe didn’t sing a few hit songs that I wasn’t to hear but overall GREAT show!
From start to finish Lyfe gave an awesome show! He was funny, personable, very down to Earth, and that VOICE! We will definitely be catching his show anytime he is in the area!
I felt that Lyfe talked too much rd during his performance. I know he talks in his song, however I wanted to hear singing not TALKING
Date: July 20, 2023 Venue: Vinetti's in Addison, Texas This was my first time seeing Lyfe Jennings in concert. I absolutely love the passion he puts into his music and performance. There were times when he hit some notes that sent shivers through my soul. In negro terms...the notes he hit! Make a person say, Oooooh got dayum! This man can blow!!! He sounds so much better in person. It was a fabulous show and I had an amazing time.
Went to see Lyfe at City Winery in Philly on 4/3/23. I felt short changed, as the length of the total event at City Winery was for 1.5 hrs. He had 2 opening acts and also had his keyboard player come to center stage during in middle of Lyfe’s performance and he sang a few songs. All of this took away from amount of time Lyfe had left to perform. In total, Lyfe performed for about only 40 mins. Not what was of for! However, he seemed so unorganized. A lot of songs he didn’t sing and he sang snippets of other songs. A positive: he sounds exactly the same in person as he does on the records and was engaging with the audience! The show was good, but could have been better had he seemed more prepared and did more songs. Wasn’t worth the money.
It was a wonderful show and I will go a see all the acts again
He gave a phenomenal concert as always. Was able to take pictures with him after the show. He is kind and friendly. I will always see him when he’s in town.
It’s was a great event, the venue was perfect, it wasn’t over crowded nor over lapping. His performance was very enjoyable.
He is the best entertainer, hands-down he interacts with his audience. He’s really down to earth love him
Lyfe sang every song I wanted to hear and sounds just like the recording. He was engaging and entertaining. Needless to say, I loved the show. I’ve been listening to all of his music all week and getting to know some of his new songs. Loving those too!
There should've been more tickets available to purchase to sit down. Lyfe only preformed for about 30 minutes that wasn't what we paid for. His opening act was horrible and sang more songs than Lyfe did.
Nice atmosphere! Good food and drinks! General admission is all you need.
Nice show. Good crowd participation. Could have been longer.
Lyfe is my favorite artist of all times .Hos performance Friday was horrible an I’m sure it’s due to him being late
The concert started extremely late, which was definitely unacceptable. then Lyfe Jenning's manager finally showed up; he did an amateur singing contest from the audience; it was so unorganized; then when Lyfe Jennings finally showed up, he gave a partial performance. it was a total waste of money, especially since I purchased three platinum tickets.
