LUCINDA WILLIAMS
THURSDAY OCTOBER 8, 2015 – Round Up by arrangement with Live Nation is thrilled to announce one of America’s finest singer-songwriters, LUCINDA WILLIAMS will head to New Zealand for one show only, playing Auckland’s Vector Arena on Friday December 4.
It’s been three years since the immensely talented Lucinda Williams graced our shores and we’re honoured to welcome the three-time Grammy Award winner back to New Zealand for a one-off intimate performance. Renowned for marrying rock, blues, country and soul, Lucinda heads our way, with stellar band in tow; including Wallflowers guitarist Stuart Mathis and her irreplaceable rhythm section, David Sutton on bass and Butch Norton on drums.
Tickets for this one-off performance will go on sale at midday Monday, October 12.
My Live Nation and Southern Fork members can be among the first to secure tickets during the pre-sales commencing at midday tomorrow, Friday October 9.

With a recording career spanning 12 albums and nearing four decades, Lucinda Williams is touring on the back of her brilliant 2014 double-album release, Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone, which was voted Album of the Year at the 14th Annual Americana Awards last month.
The album includes 20 new songs with all but two of the tracks written solely by 62-year-old Williams. From the very personal ‘Compassion’ penned by her poet father, Miller Williams and sung into being by Lucinda, to the closing, beautifully epic rendition of JJ Cale’s ‘Magnolia’; Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone is testament to Lucinda’s prowess.
Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone joins a distinguished discography including 1978 debut Ramblin’ on My Mind, 1988’s eponymous breakthrough, Lucinda Williams and 1998’s landmark Car Wheels On A Gravel Road.

Lucinda writes intimate songs but Rocks too ! She is simply amazing !
This was a remarkable event. It was a real privilege to hear from Lucinda Williams about her life, and the "beautiful misfits"as she called them who inspired songs I have long adored. And, to have the images she shared from over the years playing as well, like having a peek into her scrapbook. It was like sitting in her living room and listening to her stories-- what a songwriter, what a storyteller, what a treasure to our culture and to music.
This was the third or fourth time I've been to a Lucinda Williams concert, and this was the best one. She focused more on adding autobiographical details relating to her songs, while photos and videos from her life were projected on screens. She didn't play guitar (because of lingering effects from a stroke she experienced) but her voice was as strong as ever, and she performed solidly with her band for two and a half hours. It was a great concert and I'm very glad I attended. The Capitol One Center auditorium was an excellent venue for the concert.
A Unique concert filled with Laughter , emotion, and great music. Lucinda Williams is a great storyteller and her band is like a guitar/drum orchestra.
It was a different show than what we expected, but Lucinda was great. She said she had a cold, but we didn't notice and then her vocals got better with each song. Lucinda's backup band was excellent and the mix was perfect. Why 4 Stars, we miss Lucinda's rockin and guitar playing! As does she. Keep on touring!
Lucinda was amazing. Her stories, her journey and her grit are so inspiring. Lucinda’s voice was beautiful and her band mates were fantastic. In spite of having a slight cold and recovering from a stroke, Lucinda put her heart & soul into this show. The concert was about 2 hours, including an encore. I’m so glad I was able to see & enjoy Lucinda Williams & her band at this venue!
Lucinda is an amazing performer and personality. This show was equal parts personal expression and musical exploration. Her band is so unbelievably good they must be seen to be believed. Truly a once in a lifetime musical experience.
Lucinda again demonstrated why she’s a music legend. She’s paid her dues and continues to contribute to her legendary status.
Spending the evening w Lu and her band was just amazing. Her voice, better than ever and the stories let us in to glimpse a view of a life very well lived. I could have stayed all night!
Warm, personable, and touching. Her voice is great, and the band is tight.
I've never been a huge fan but I do like her songs and LOVE her voice. I thought she showed so much class and humanity coming out showing the effects of a stroke a couple years back but she didn't let that bother her. I also loved that she told a bit of her life story as the more you understand someone's life experiences, the music seems easier to embrace. She was just awesome!!
The entire experience has stayed with the past few days. Lucinda’s story as told through her words, video, and music helped me to understand her life’s ups and downs and evolutions. The show was first rate but not for anyone looking for a rockin’ blast.
I love Lucinda but this wasn’t one of her better shows. She was a little under the weather, she told some good stories (but I was hoping to hear more music) and there appeared to be some “behind the scenes” discussions occurring front and center.
Easy parking..but very large...great crowd..people my age...great seat..great sound..superb musicians..lucinda sounded better than ever. I can relate as we are the same age..I've followed her from day 1..blessed to have seen her..
Lucinda’s voice sounded great. As powerful as ever. What a wonderful story teller ! The Big Band was awesome. Right in tune with Lucinda. So glad we were there !
Lucinda and her band were excellent this weekend! Hearing the stories behind the songs was so interesting and informative that songs that I've heard hundreds of times before suddenly meant something entirely new to me. Seeing the home movies and photographs made it all that much more poignant. We're seeing Bob Dylan later this week and I have to say that Bob has some big shoes to fill after Lucinda's show! ;)
It was my first trip to the Egg. It is a great venue. Not a bad seat in the place. The acoustics are amazing. While she is still unable to play the guitar due to the stroke, her voice is strong and she really delivered a great performance. The stories she told between songs really illuminated the meanings behind the songs and I learned quite a few things about songs or hers that I had listened to many times and that gave me a new understanding of them for the next time(s) I hear them.
Her voice is still great, backing band tight. LW is brave to perform despite her stroke, and didn't disappoint. The Egg was the perfect venue for her, and amazing sound as always.
Lucinda Williams is the best. Despite her stroke she put on a great show. Telling her life story and playing her songs as well as a few covers. Photos and home movies shown on the screen. Her backup band, Buick 6 , were brilliant.
I wasn’t informed ahead of time that there was an obstructed view
