by 2ROCKYG on 10/12/11Beacon Theatre - New York

ME AND MY HUSBAND TRUELY HAD A GREAT TIME SEEING THIS SHOW. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS SHOW FOR ALL TO SEE IF IT RETURNS BACK TO NEW YORK CITY. A LOT OF LAUGHS AND SOME TEARS, BUT IN WAS A WELL PUT TOGETHER SHOW. THE SINGING WAS OUTSTANDING. VOICES ON A HIGH.

it had a few glitches but as professionals they worked through it, at some points it dragged,it seemed to long.ms.leeks seemed a little out of place, she needs to hone up on her acting skills, but all in all it was good.

Watching this play was killing me!! Terrible!!

by ChannyM on 10/12/11Beacon Theatre - New York

With names like Shirley Murdock & Kenny Lattimore I expected a "decent" show. Also, the tickets were not cheap. After sitting for 3 long hours, I felt robbed! The play was poorly written and if not for the popular headliners the turn out would have been significantly less. The storyline was all over the place and not for a mature, educated audience. It lacked depth and simply wasn't believable. The title was misleading and didn't match the weak plot at all. Just terrible. I was cheated and my people made a fool of. I guess the way to get a pass on a terrible show is to have enough money to pay a few top headliners for marketing purposes of course and throw a little prayer and the lords name to capitalize on the "CHURCH FOLK" that were/are followers of Tyler Perry's stage shows which by the way THIS doesn't come close to. Can I have a refund? Partial payment accepted. :-)

    So disappointed!!!

by Sincere4sho on 10/11/11Beacon Theatre - New York

The only reason I give this play 2 stars is because I enjoyed the cast. They were not the reason patrons decided to walk out. The writer was all over the place, having too much going on from character to character. For a gospel play, this was very distasteful. You may ask why I sat and watched the remainder of the show; only because my wife thought the ending would change our view. It almost felt like the writer was about to steal Tyler Perry's Madea character. I encourage all my black writers to step up their game and work on being more creative. We don't have many plays/shows out there, lets make the best of it when given the opportunity!

    Didn't kill me...

by woody717 on 10/11/11Beacon Theatre - New York

Acting was mediocre...Sound was an issue at times...Storyline was a little too unrealistic. On the plus side, singing was pretty good with few moments of comedy

Storyline was all over the place ! Way too long and drawn out! Could have left out the scenes involving guns! Too Much people dying by way of the gun! Don't regret going but won't recommend to anyone..

Entertaining. Well above average. Fell a little short of the Tyler Perry productions, but I know it's not fair to compare. I gave it 4 stars only b/c they wouldn't let me give it 3 1/2. Shirley Murdock was excellent! I think she was the glue to the play.

    wasnt pleased

by Anonymous on 10/11/11Beacon Theatre - New York

the play just didnt give the feel i thought it would the singers in the play were good but the acting was off key some parts seemed overly dramatic while other parts were super dry i just wish they had more feeling in the entire play overall it could use alot of work before going on broadway its just not broadway quality it would be ok for a high school stage but thats about it

    Waste of Time & Money

by Tyeshia on 10/11/11Beacon Theatre - New York

I love to support my ppl, however I personally believe the visionary of this play needs to go back to the drawing board and make some minor changes. Yes, there will always be unforseen hiccups, however there were alot of flaws at the 3pm show and I personally feel it wasn't worth the money we paid ( to name a few ex. sound systems were not working properly, obivous malfunctions with props, & story seemed to be all over the place) I love NeNe and I thought she was "starring" she didn't appear unitl part 2, then there was a scene where it seemed to be contrived and not realistic at all....Lastly, I didn't like how the writer/director tried piggy back off of the character of Madea (Tyler Perry) by mentioning/making reference to Madea during a particular part. I believe authenticity is vital and key when your new to the game, bc it allows the public to distinguish that persons particular brand of work.

Watching this play is Killing me.

by Lovmesomeplays on 10/11/11Beacon Theatre - New York

This play had a lot of potential but fell short. I was so disappointed. A lot of good talent was wasted on a crappy story line. Nene Leaks never looked at the audience. She yelled through all her lines. Darrius McCray did a great job. Shirley M. should have just sang the whole play. Oh and the playwrite never even introduced his cast members.

Loving Him Is Killing Me was OK.

by Scoot540 on 10/11/11Beacon Theatre - New York

This play was ok. Very confusing, because a lot of the scenes didn't go hand to hand with the play's title. This play had it's moments though, with the comedy, drama, and singing. This play was ok to me personally, because my main focus was spending quality time with my wife and it didn't matter if the play was good or bad. But, still is was OK.
