About

“LOVE LETTERS CONQUERS ALL!” – NBC New York

“Under the expert direction of Gregory Mosher, Brian Dennehy, gives a sterling performance and an utterly extraordinary Mia Farrow casts a heartbreaking spell.” - The New York Times

Andrew Makepeace Ladd III wrote his first letter to Melissa Gardner to tell her she looked like a lost princess. They were both seven years old. For the next fifty years, through personal triumphs and despair, through wars and marriages and children and careers, they poured out the secrets of their hearts to each other. They defied a fate that schemed to keep them apart, and lived – through letters – for the one most meaningful thing, their undying love for each other.

See your favorite stars including Brian Dennehy, Mia Farrow, Carol Burnett, Alan Alda, Candice Bergen, Stacy Keach, Diana Rigg, Anjelica Huston, Martin Sheen and so many more brilliant talents to be announced. Directed by Gregory Mosher and written by celebrated playwright A.R. Gurney. An enduring romance about first loves and second chances comes to Broadway.

“BRIAN DENNEHY & MIA FARROW DAZZLE IN LOVE LETTERS. A beguiling and wrenching kaleidoscope of real emotions.” - Newsday

    Great entertainment

by Cathy0009 on 10/10/14Brooks Atkinson Theatre - New York

I came to see Brian Denneghy because he is one of my favorite actors. I had no expectations of Ms. Farrow but she almost stole the show! I am now a huge fan of hers and think she may need to consider coming back to the stage more often.

    Loved those Letters!

by MsChiff on 10/10/14Brooks Atkinson Theatre - New York

Bare stage...no costumes or special effects. Just Brian Dennehy and Mia Farrow... And ninety minutes was not long enough!!! These masters of theatre delivered! Every intention was clear and every letter read was a spoken prayer that surely reached into the hearts of people in every age and every stage of life. I do predict awards in the future for this riveting tour de force.

This play was amazing, but sad at the end. Both actors played their side of the story extremely well. We have seen Brian Dennehy in many plays, but he stepped up on this one. Mia Farrow was exceptional.

    Love Letters was FABULOUS!

by nottwins2 on 10/7/14Brooks Atkinson Theatre - New York

Brian Dennehy and Mia Farrow were FABULOUS!! They both gave flawless, spellbinding performances with ease and humor and gut-wrenching emotion. We clearly heard each age and phase of their lives; and were mesmorized with their timing and deliveries! The heartbreak and emotion brought tears to my eyes and was almost too much to bare. Wonderful writing, Mr. Gurney! Brava, Mia! I can't imagine a better couple bringing these words to life! A MUST-SEE!

It was a little slow at times. I think I will go back to musicals and action on the set.

    Love Letters was wonderful, unforgettable!

by Resn on 10/6/14Brooks Atkinson Theatre - New York

Gurney is one of my favorite playwrights and now that I've seen Love Letters, I believe that this is his very best work. Mia Farrow was superb and Brian Dennehy gave one of his always very fine performances yet again. I highly recommend this show. See it if you can.

    The power of words

by Fasch on 10/6/14Brooks Atkinson Theatre - New York

This play made me think about how we can lose so much history and emotions by texting or emailing in lieu of writing letters. The images were created by the words spoken, or in some cases, unspoken. I thought Dennehy and Farrow were perfect in their roles. This play will be most enjoyed by people who like words, listen well to hear the nuances and subtle intonations and who enjoy the purity of it all. Sitting in the first row, we were afraid we would be too low to see their faces, but it was perfect!

    Terrific

by Anonymous on 10/5/14Brooks Atkinson Theatre - New York

I usually tend to nod off with broadway shows that do not involve much activity but was absolutely mesmerized by the story and the performances of both Brian Dennahy and Mia Farrow. There was not a moment where I wasn't touched by all that was being expressed on stage. I know that there are many others who will be cast moving forward for this production but there is no way that it could top the acting of Brian and Mia. Go see this!!!

    Love Letters will Surprise

by BradfordDr on 10/4/14Brooks Atkinson Theatre - New York

To be honest, I went to see Mia Farrow and Brian Dennehy. I was not expecting such an unusual and compelling show. For two actors sitting at a table to take us through two entire lifetimes - quite a feat. This is not a traditional love story, by any means. But it is a story of two lives intertwined for decades, with a strong love and friendship binding them. Not a false note here.

    Intriguing

by Redrose52 on 9/30/14Brooks Atkinson Theatre - New York

When I saw a table and two chairs set up on the stage, with two people and two binders highlighting their respective parts, I thought for sure I would be bored. Contrary to my misgivings, I really loved the show. The more they read the letters, the more intrigued I became. I'm not a big Mia Farrow fan but I must say she gave an outstanding performance and Brian Dennehy held his own against her. The show is 90 minutes with no intermissions, and the time goes by very quickly. I guess people are waiting for their favorite actors to be appearing in this play with a revolving cast because, much to my surprise, most of the rows behind us were empty. If you get the chance, go see this play, you won't be disappointed.

    Love Letters

by Wendefer on 9/27/14Brooks Atkinson Theatre - New York

This was one of the best plays I've seen on Broadway. The story was one that paralleled my life with the corresponding of fifty years between the two. Mia and Brian were incredible in bringing out so much emotion from their audience. I shall tell all my friends to obtain tickets to see this set of actors.

This play was really fantastic. The two actors were exceptional. Mia Farrow showed all the vast emotions involved in this play and story. I sat in the front row, no more than 15 feet away from Mia Farrow and Brian Dennehy, so I had quite the view. The entire time went so quickly and it was interesting throughout.
