Los Angeles Lakers History
The Lakers are one of the most storied franchises in all of sports. They boast 19 conference titles, 35 division titles and 17 NBA Championships. The franchise started in 1947 as the Minneapolis Lakers in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and predated the official founding of the NBA. At the time, the Lakers were a member of the National Basketball League (NBL). They moved to the Basketball Association of America (BAA) prior to the 1948–49 season. After that season, the NBL and BAA merged to form the NBA. The Lakers dominated the newly formed NBA, winning five of the first six NBA Championships.
Two big decisions in 1960 altered the future of the franchise. First, they selected Jerry West with the No. 2 overall pick in the NBA Draft. Then, the franchise moved to Los Angeles in the same offseason, becoming the NBA's first West Coast team. After several trips to the NBA Finals and trading for Wilt Chamberlain, the Lakers won the NBA Championship in 1971–72, an amazing season that included a 33-game win streak, which is still the NBA record for most consecutive wins. West would go on to become a Hall of Famer, and his silhouette is featured as the NBA's logo.
The Lakers' next era of dominance began in 1979, when they selected Earvin "Magic" Johnson with the No. 1 overall pick. Johnson's unrivaled passing ability allowed the Lakers to play with an up-tempo style that became known as "Showtime." Led by Johnson and fellow Hall of Famer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, the Lakers won the NBA Championship in Johnson's rookie season and a total of five titles during the '80s.
The Lakers were led to three consecutive titles between 2000 and 2002 by the legendary duo of Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant, including a run through the 2000–01 playoffs that saw them lose just one game in four series. The franchise entered a short rebuilding period after trading O'Neal in 2004, but Bryant led the Lakers to three consecutive NBA Finals appearances once again, starting in the 2007–08 season. They lost to the Celtics in their first appearance, but responded by winning the next two championships, the second of which came in seven games against the Celtics.
Following the postponement of the 2019-20 NBA season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the team won its most recent NBA Finals in 2020 in the NBA Bubble behind Finals MVP LeBron James and All-Star forward Anthony Davis. In 2023, the Lakers won the inaugural NBA in-season tournament.

Amazing time from beginning to end. Food was great. Staff were helpful and smiling. Clean and informative. I go every year and it gets better.
had a great time its almost impossible to see the lakers with out taking out a mortgage on the house this was great lots of fans lots of fun
I had a great time. no necessary to buy them at stub hub.
Unfortunately Lakers lost, but the complete atmosphere was very nice!! Unfortunately there was a cowboy with hat in front me taking part of my vision.
Other than the seats being too small, uncomfortable, and no drink holders those are the only improvements that could be added to have made the game better, but I understand it is a boxing and concert propelled arena. This I just my opinion of my experience at the MGM Grand garden Arena
Ive always wanted to witness a lakers game and this was the perfect opportunity. I was able to comfortably watch it and enjoy every minute It was a dream come true
The venue was great. The lakers lost. I will return! This was much easier to get in and out if than the Thomas & Mack
We had lots of fun... Good Game!!! Las Vegas Rock!
very good game in great arena. hope to be there again.
Great seats at a great price! Even though the Lakers lost, the game was very entertaining. The game featured some great baskets from both the Nuggets and the Lakers. The seats we had gave us a great eye-level view of the action on the floor and this made each basket feel more exciting. Several highlights included assists by Steve Nash to Steve Black, Wes Johnson to Nick Young, dunk by DJO, and baskets by Xavier Henry.
The Fans are amazing. I love the interaction. the kiss cam.. the prizes.. The cool view of the game and ofcourse the LAKESHOW!!! Lots of drinks and priced like at a regular bar.
Please hire Phil Jackson. The Lakers also need Jeanie Buss as President of the team.
THE LAKERS HAD A BAD SEASON, BEARLY MAKING THE PLAY-OFFS, BUT THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PLAYER POWER TO EVEN WIN ONE GAME AGAINST THE SPURS. OH WELL, GOOD THING WE HAVE THE CLIPPERS...
I think this is the reason why I don't like watching Lakers anymore; it was so stressful and depressing but my husband is their biggest fan. The team didn't even put any effort and the fans were out of it. Some fans left even before the 4th quarter starts; typical LA fans - show up late and leave early.
The Laker game was great but too bad they loss. the seats were great and the view was excellent!
WELL ANOTHER GAME HAS CAME AND GONE BRINGING THIS SEASON TO AN END. IM SAD TO SAY THAT WE DIDNT WIN THIS 1 EITHER, WOW, A SWEEP, RARE AND UNEXPECTED!!! BUT ITS OK WERE STILL THE LAKERS AND THE BEST TEAM IN THE NBA NO MATTER WHAT ANYONE SAYS!!! AND WE HAVE THE RECORDS TO PROVE IT. SO SHUT UP ALL YOU HATERS BECAUSE NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS, WERE THE LAKERS AND WE WILL ALWAYS BE NUMBER 1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The seats were amazing for the price. Fun game to watch except sad that they lost. Would definitely love to see the game like that again when the team is healthy.
Our team was playing frustrated and like they had given up right of the bat I wanted to leave early but paid so much money. The players should never give up bc the fans never will I was there to experience magic and didnt get anything but a towel to wipe my tears . 4-3 baby it was possible if we played with more dedication and heart... We miss you Kobe and all our injure. Hope we come back with a vengeance with the real superman, Gasoline, and blk mamba ready for destruction!!!!
The game was awful because the Lakers played awful. The seats were great
Horrible game, but only due to bad play. Nice arena.
