    Good Lombardi story

by moher on 12/4/12Herberger Theater Center - Phoenix

Interesting perspective to telling the story, i.e., through a reporter's efforts to understand what makes Lombardi tick. "Vince" and "Marie" actors both quite good. Horning actor was less convincing, especially with his accent (not Louisville). Other than that the three football players were pretty good.

The production was very entertaining, very well done. The actors all inhabited the roles very convincingly.

    Outstanding!

by Inamae39 on 12/4/12Herberger Theater Center - Phoenix

Casting, costume, set design were all brilliant! I was completely immersed in the 60's! Eerily resembling Vince Lombardi, Bob Ari's performance was masterful; equally outstanding were his wife and the supporting cast of players: Paul Horning, Jim Taylor, and Dave Robinson. I was merely 4-5 years old when I started following the Packers, but remember the commanding presence of Vince (both on and off the field). My father had his book, "Winning is a Habit" and many of the lessons taught in that book are very applicable today: to always strive for excellence! Great positive messages throughout the play, The addition of Nick Mills (as the reporter, Michael McCormick) was a great idea. His narration and portrayal of the character completed this wonderful story! Kudos, well done!!!

    Entertaining and insightful

by Birdy63 on 12/3/12Herberger Theater Center - Phoenix

The acting was great, especially for Marie and Vince. Not too sappy or sentimental, and gave some insight into Vince's character. I'm a Green Bay fan and I think the play will mainly appeal to sports fans.

We recently attended the LOMBARDI play at the Herberger. I am from Green Bay - so watching this play brought back so many memories of Lombardi and Lambeau Field. This was a great play - well done. JWilson

    Home Town Memories

by Mare2 on 11/30/12Herberger Theater Center - Phoenix

I just had to go to Lombardi as I was born and raised in Green Bay. Vince Lombardi was an idol in my dad's eyes-never stopped talking about him! I was a teenager when Vince was there but I remember all of the excitement about an upcoming game. We went to the airport many times to cheer for the team when the players arrived home from away games. The play well-portrayed Lombardi's "loudness" and his intense dedication to the team. Loved it!!

You don't have to know football to enjoy this play. The actors are awesome and their performances are spectacular. I would recommend this play to anyone who likes good theatre. The actor who played Vince Lombardi embraced this role and did a great job!

This was a great show. It's nice to see a show that is a simple production with a minimal cast, but still holds your attention for the whole time.

    Lombardi a treat

by ladysmith on 11/27/12Herberger Theater Center - Phoenix

Really enjoyed the performance and some of the insights gained. Having just returned from a trip to Green Bay and a tour of Lambeau Field, this play had a special meaning to me.

    A Memorable Man

by PackerFan4Life on 11/26/12Herberger Theater Center - Phoenix

We really enjoyed the show! The acting was wonderful! I would beg to differ with those who say that you don't have to be a football (or Packer) fan to enjoy this show. This may be true, but it sure helps to understand football and to be familiar with the Packers and the Lombardi Legacy. We would have liked to learn MORE about Lombardi the man and maybe had fewer moments that required a greater understanding of the game.

Excellent cast, great portrait of the man and his life in and out of football. Don't have to be a Packer fan to enjoy this but it makes it even more enjoyable.

    Lombardi was AWESOME

by RepoMan56 on 11/20/12Herberger Theater Center - Phoenix

This was my first time to attend a play. I am a big fan of pro football so I said yes when my wife asked me if I would like to go! The play was very good. The actor, Bob Ari, who played Vince Lombardi, really looked like him!! And I loved the actress who played Marie Lombardi. She had that New Jersey accent down pat!! I also enjoyed seeing footage of the Packers games from the 60's that appeared on the screen just above the stage.

    LOMBARDI IS A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE!

by PACKERBACKERSFOREVER on 11/20/12Herberger Theater Center - Phoenix

As kids growing up in Wisconsin in the 50's, we loved the play about our hero. In most Wisconsin homes, it was the parish priest/minister/rabbi; then the local doctor and in a very close third place, Vince Lombardi. We felt the performances by the entire cast brought back the tone, the feeling, the love/hate relationship we grew to expect from our hero, Vince Lombardi. It was a great evening out, especially after the Packer win earlier that day! A must for every Packer fan and those who envy our undying loyalty!!

    Lombardi

A sort of "Mad Men" valentine to Lombardi. An entertaining (if somewhat pricey) evening that doesn't aspire to social or emotional insights.
