A great night of music at DPAC

by Liz on 1/22/19DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - Durham

This was a spectacular parents night out. The show was great, the host was engaging and so much fun. Our seats gave us a great view. We loved the ability to pop out of the theater easily for a beverage or bathroom break while the show continued to play over the loudspeaker. Thanks, Live from Here and DPAC!

Best Show I've EVER EVER seen!!!!!

by Aaron Braswell on 1/22/19DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - Durham

Live From Here was the most expertly executed, most entertaining, most perfectly eclectic show I have ever experienced. The DPAC was the ideal venue for this show, and I could not imagine enjoying it as much anywhere else. NPR figures highly in my current novel, but I will undoubtedly include this show in the sequel to said volume. Just WOW, all over the place.

    Far Exceeded Expectations!

by WheelBarron on 1/22/19DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - Durham

I was blown away with the experience ! I have seen Chris Thile live several times over the years and have always loved his mandolin playing. The show did not disappoint in that respect and it was so much more! All of the guest artists, including a comedian were fabulous. I couldn’t get over how many artists they were able to smoothly cram into a two hour show without feeling crammed! I could easily become a “Live From Here” groupie! Luckily for me and for you, we can hear the live show every week on NPR!

    Highly entertaining!

by Mary M on 1/22/19DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - Durham

From the virtuoso mandolin player, Chris Thile and his comrades, to the local humor in the skits, to Tank and and Bangas, Sylvan Esso and Death Cab for Cuties, it was wonderful! Timing was great- a well-oiled machine. Loved Chris Thile's energy and wanting to stay and play more music after the broadcast was over. Well done!

Talent and Fun had a Baby

by Dave T. on 1/22/19DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - Durham

Suffice it to say that Chris Thile does a tremendous job both as a performer and an emcee, and his ability to both work with and bring out the best of an eclectic group of guests is remarkable. It was a pleasure to see a group of extremely talented artists given the chance to do what they love doing.

    Live from Here Amazes

by BullCityYakker on 1/22/19DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - Durham

Spectacular music, brilliantly led by Chris Thile, with a local touch. What’s not to love? We’re Duke b-ball fans, but I was happy to watch the Duke game on DVR so I could watch LIVE.

    Superb Show

    by S. P. on 12/26/18Town Hall - New York

We very much enjoyed our first show a year ago...so invited 4 friends to join this year. This year surpassed last and our group was enthralled. Masterful production with superb music, humor, warmth, and creativity -- kudos team "Live From Here" Chris Thiel's energy and talent is captivating and the guest line up could not have been more well chosen. We loved Roseanne Cash, Jim Breuer was hilarious, Gaby Moreno flawless (the Edith Piaf song amazing), and we were so pleased to be introduced to the Knights (Brooklyn orchestral collective- we just bought tix to see them this spring).

Live From Here - Amazing in person!

by guido on 12/25/18Town Hall - New York

The Chris and Gaby show continues to amaze with their remarkable stylistic range and virtuosity. The band was tight and on fire, Alex Hargreaves providing fine counterpoint. The Knights were a delight providing a rich backing to Chris' flights of fancy. After the taping completed the band came back out and sang xmas carols with the audience. Hearing Chris sing "Good King Wenceslas" in the style of Bob Dylan was just jaw droppingly good!

    Wow!!!

by JC on 12/19/18Town Hall - New York

Jon Batiste—what can you say? Absolutely amazing, and it’s so obvious he enjoys every second of performing. The Jon and Chris riffs—and don’t forget the house band!—were pure pleasure for all. The MUSIC is so much “bigger” in person than on the radio. And we love the comedy bits. One of the best shows we’ve ever seen in NYC!

    PERFECTION PERSONIFIED!!!

by Sandi on 12/18/18Town Hall - New York

This is my Christmas Gift to my Sister & Brother-in-law two year's running, and it is officially now my Christmas Gift for the future. We all loved last year's show, but this year's show Hit it out of the Park!!! We're all huge Chris Thile fans and the talent he gathered for Dec. 15 was so Sublime, we watched it on You Tube's rebroadcast the next day. We loved the addition of other music genres to the line-up. The collaboration of Jon Batiste with Chris was a work of two masters at the peak of their craft. Had heard of St. Vincent, but was unfamiliar with her work. What a surprising marvel she is! Sara Watkins, Noam Pikelny, Punch Brothers and absoulutely all the musicians and comedians were superb.

Not only do I love and am amazed by his mandolin virtuosity, he is funny and a great host. Love how he is diversifying this show for all ages. The audience reflected that. Plus I love to see him crack up at others humor!!
