Indie-rock outfit Liars was formed in 2000 as a result of a "musicians wanted" ad posted in a New York City record store. Their unique sound was derived from a marriage between synth pads/programmed drums to the fundamental guitar-bass-drums formula of punk rock. Their first album, They Threw Us All in a Trench and Stuck a Monument on Top, was released in 2001 and produced in just two days by engineer producer Steve Revitte (Beastie Boys, Lee "Scratch" Perry). In 2004, inspired by experimental electronica music as well as German witchcraft folklore, the band released their second album They Were Wrong, So We Drowned. Not a band to remain stylistically static, Liars' 2005 release, Drum's Not Dead, once again marked a major musical shift that the band likens to "Brian Wilson's wilder sonic journeys, or Radiohead's embrace of experimental abstraction." Drum's Not Dead is also a highly ambitious and groundbreaking work in that it involves a "cinematic sister project"--36 short films (three for each track) to be included on the standard album CD.

I've seen 5 Liars shows since 2002 and this was the best one! Amazing.
Liars at bowery ballroom was awesome. Great energetic vibe!
Even better than expected Was a truly amazing performance
Goosebumps - A Visit from Drum for the opening. The whole set was solid. These guys are on point.
An awesome show with legendary Circle Jerks singer DJ-ing between bands. The Liars were brilliant.
Great show. Played new songs and great old ones!!!!
I am a longtime fan of the Liars and this is the first time I've been able to see them live. They exceeded my expectations - they played a wide range of songs from all the major albums. Even a couple really early songs with all around solid delivery The lead singer Angus Andrew is about the closest we'll see to Shaggy from Scooby Doo being a kickass rockstar with his at times comical and always demanding presence.
