About

LEWIS DEL MAR IN CONCERT:

Experimental folk-pop duo Lewis Del Mar set the internet ablaze in 2015 with their buzzworthy debut single "Loud(y)", an attention-grabbing mix of warm acoustic guitar and acerbic industrial beats that sounded unlike anything to come out of Brooklyn in recent years. Thanks to their unique sound the pair has become critical darlings almost overnight, making their major label debut in early 2016 with a self-titled EP and blowing minds on tour with electrifying live shows that add a bit of grit and distortion to their slick sound. In concert singer/guitarist Danny Miller and producer/multi-instrumentalist Max Harwood are joined by a full band, and together the group brings fresh cuts like "Memories" and "Malt Liquor" to life with inventive drumming, buzzing synths, and fuzzed-out electric guitar. Miller is an incredible performer who sings and plays his acoustic with serious gusto, and the rest of the band matches his intensity blow for blow with an infectious zeal that always gets ticket buyers moving their feet. Lewis Del Mar is one of those rare acts who manage to sound both timeless and fresh as heck, and fans lucky enough to catch them on their rise will have plenty to brag about when the masses catch on.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Childhood friends Danny Miller and Max Harwood grew up in Washington, D.C., where they played together in a garage rock trio before Brooklyn's music scene drew them to NYC in 2013. After honing a unique sound that combined Miller's singer-songwriter skills with Harwood's drumming and sampling prowess, they made their debut as Lewis Del Mar in 2015 with the track "Loud(y)". The song was a viral sensation, shooting to No. 1 on The Hype Machine and leaving labels jockeying to ink them to a deal. After signing with Columbia the pair dropped their self-titled debut EP in early 2016, earning praise from major outlets like Billboard and Vice. With extensive touring in support of big acts like BÿRNS and Glass Animals slated for 2016, Lewis Del Mar has fans dying to rock out to their new material in concert.

    Lewis Del Mar was amazing!

The opening act was ok but Lewis Del Mar put on a great show. I really liked their energy and they sound exactly like they do on their album. The guitar riffs really got the crowd going. They are certainly an underrated band and I would definitely go see them again.

Lewis Del Mar puts on an Impressive Show

    by LA7A on 4/27/16Great Scott - Allston

If you've listened to the Lewis Del Mar EP, you may have wondered (as I did) how well their music would translate to a live setting (if you haven't listened you are missing out -- go do it right now!). I'm here to tell you that this duo is incredible live. The ambience that surrounds you, the distorted bass that creeps under your skin, catchy guitar riffs, dynamics -- it's all there plus more. The masterfully played hybrid drum kit was able to replicate all the distorted percussive sounds that made the album so special while the acoustic elements of the kit provided energy levels remenicient of a rock concert. Supporting members included a bassist, a guitar player (who played many of the ostinatos electronically produced on the album), and a synth player who's background vocals displayed a really incredible vocal range while he moved between 2 separate synths and a sampler. The percussion was spot on and the band was really tight. Finally, the vocals were something else. Del Mar's frontman has an incredible range and immense power, but it's his delivery that really makes him stand out. This singer has soul. It's like Bob Marley and Prince had a Baby. He is in the music 100% and just pulls the audience in with him. I was not expecting to be so impressed. if you have a chance to see these guys, do it while tickets are cheap because they won't be for long!!!

Lewis Del Mar put on an awesome show. Dan's voice sounds even better live and he knows how to get a crowd going. Also a very cool warehouse venue behind a record store.

Polished and mature sound from Lewis Del Mar!

by BrownBear78 on 9/24/15Mercury Lounge - New York

You know that moment when you are seeing a band perform its first show and you are instantly struck at their incredible talent and that they are destined for greatness...yeah..me neither until this show. Lewis Del Mar has an incredible sound that made me forget everything else in my life that was going on and be in the song, in the moment. For being a younger band, their mature use of tempo, transitions, and an eclectic mix of influences is well beyond their years. While it is clear that Loud(y) will most likely be their first big single, any of the other songs could easily get heavy airplay. I look forward to hearing more from this group, as they have just signed to a record label, see them in the small intimate spaces they are playing now before they are selling out arenas.
