We're All Getting Too Old for This

by Whiny McGee on 11/25/19Paradise Rock Club presented by Citizens Bank - Boston

While the two-night run was fun enough (highlights including an encore set of Cars tunes on Friday night, and a fun cover of "Cruel to Be Kind" on Saturday night), the fun is fading as the fan base slouches toward middle age. While the Paradise is a fun venue when you're young, being on your feet for three + hours in order to get a good view of the stage is tough for older folks with stiffer joints and weaker bladders. Though the band does offer a handful of new material (this year it was a Christmas EP), those who have seen them before are quite familiar with their output by now, so it's more of a comforting evening of nostaligia, though having a newer band open (Speedy Ortiz) at least exposes the crowd to some new tunes. I'll always love the band, but I'll be reluctant to see them again unless there's a novel approach to their next performances. However, if you've never seen them, they put on a great show, and you'll probably have a great time. As far as the venue goes, there always seems to be an incident where there's a confrontation in the crowd because a tall guy plops himself front and center, all but obscuring the lead singer, which angers shorter, drunker people. That will probably neer change, though.

    Stellar

by MookieVision on 11/20/17Paradise Rock Club - Boston

Letters To Cleo were all that I hoped for and more. The band ROCKED hard and clean, and Kay Hanley's voice is as good as ever. And I was pleasantly surprised to find out that Blake Babies were the opening act. Some true early '90s Boston rock legends.

    Letters to Cleo

by rcrx on 11/20/17Paradise Rock Club - Boston

The venue was small and the show was awesome! Bar and bathroom access was great. I remember them from way back and a friend contacted us and said they were going. We jumped on board. First band was good but Letters to Cleo was a great show. Very personal with the audience and the band was super tight and her voice was spot on. I usually don't listen to that type of music anymore but would go back and see them in a minute.

    LTC Has Still Got It!

by PuraVidaWTW on 11/22/16Paradise Rock Club - Boston

I saw Letters to Cleo back in the mid-90s at The Paradise. So this restart tour and show was a must see for me. The show did not disappoint. The band with Kay at lead vocals rocked every bit as hard, 20 years later. Sound was tremendous, timing impeccable. They did songs from the new EP but made sure to include most of their best 2 albums, Aurora and Wholesale Meats. If they add any shows or continue to keep it together in this millenium don't miss the next one. Weekend Friends warmed up. Also a good band, female fronted rockers from Berkeley. Check out their website. I think we'll see more of them in the future.

Letters to Cleo is Better Than Ever

by WickedHardflip on 11/22/16Paradise Rock Club - Boston

I didn't know what to expect after Letters to Cleo haven't exactly been touring nor have they recorded an album in 17 years. So, I figured if anything it would be a nostalgic night but they exceeded my expectations and sounded better than ever. The band was spot on and the rock came easy. Kay hasn't lost a step and her voice was as good as, if not better then it was in the 90s. They played for at least an hour and a half and kept the hits coming. Overall, a great show and I'll be there for the next show if they start touring again.
