LESS THAN JAKE IN CONCERT:

There are those who say that ska is dead, and then there are those who have been to a Less Than Jake show recently. The ska punk favorites prove the genre is alive and kicking every time they take the stage, flooring fans with high-octane performances of their melodic, brass-heavy tunes. From the charging drums and distorted guitars of "She's Gonna Break Soon" to the horn-filled chorus of "All My Best Friends Are Metalheads", Less Than Jake deliver a skank-worthy concert experience that's sure to satisfy diehard fans and newbies alike.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Less Than Jake formed in Gainesville, FL in 1992 and quickly built a local following with their fast-paced live shows and early seven-inch singles. They released their debut album Pezcore in 1995, then signed with Capitol Records the following year for their sophomore album Losing Streak. The record charted in the UK and was an underground hit in the US, leading to shows with Guttermouth and The Descendents as well as a stint on the 1997 Vans Warped Tour. The band's success continued in 1998 with their third album Hello Rockview, which scored them a Top 40 hit on the US Modern Rock Tracks chart with the song "History of a Boring Town". Since then the band has released five more acclaimed albums including 2003's wildly popular Anthem, which they supported on tour with Fall Out Boy and another stretch on the Vans Warped Tour. In 2013 the band released their eighth album See the Light, a stellar collection of upbeat ska punk tunes that has ticket buyers eagerly awaiting their upcoming tour dates, looking for a repeat of venues sold out to capacity, like House of Blues (San Diego), from the band's previous run.

    LTJ always delivers

by Jphive on 9/29/10Culture Room - Ft Lauderdale

LTJ are always a good show, i have seen them about 8-9 times now and have never been disappointed. i have seen the lead singer Chris hit the stage in Phili dressed as an Omish person rocking a 102 degree fever and a blown out voice and still they put on a great show. They really killed it at the culture room on Saturday, the first two opening bands didnt leave much impression Sir Veza's drummer is great, and stampede movement really really like the ganje, cause it is about all they sang about. Fallen from the Sky were a nice surprise, they are a great up and coming hardcore act well worth paying attention too. GO SEE THIS SHOW!!! you will not be disappointed.

    AMAZING

by burajin on 12/14/09Revolution Live - Ft Lauderdale

I went to see Less than Jake expecting an awesome show from what my friends had told me, but this was just amazing. Their setlist was perfect and the audience was also awesome (besides the crowd surfers landing on your head every 5 seconds). Their comedy shows were also great. Only other thing is that the concert took waaaay too long to start. Doors opened at 6 pm, but the OPENING bands didn't start until fricken 8:15ish

    Less Than Jake still Rock!

by SchnBait on 12/14/09Revolution Live - Ft Lauderdale

Last time I saw these guys was about 10 years ago, but they still have it. The put on a great show, played lot's of hits from their extensive catalog. There on stage personality and antics are great. Really a fun band to go see. I was suprised to see such a young crowd at the show (mostly highschool age) for a band that has been around as long as these guys.

Less Than Jake's staying power over the course of the past 15+ years is built upon the fact that their live shows are unrivaled in terms of fun and entertainment value, not to mention great music. But whether you are a big fan of their music or not, you can't go to a Less Than Jake show and not have an amazing time! The show at Revolution on 12/12 was just as awesome as the numerous Less Than Jake shows I attended back in the mid to late 90's. Having Cage, a rap act, play right before Less Than Jake seemed like an interesting experiment that turned out to be a very bad idea. Most of the crowd at least politely tolerated Cage's act, but there was also a fairly substantial minority was not so respectful....loudly booing, jeering, and chanting "Less Than Jake" throughout Cage's set.

Less Than Jake Rocked HOB in Orlando!!

by Demi23 on 12/12/09House of Blues Orlando - Orlando

The show was sooooo awesome!!!! The first band, The Protagonist, was good and got the crowd warmed up for The Swellers which were totally awesome!! It was my first time seeing The Swellers. This was my second time seeing Less Than Jake and they rocked that stage and the crowd!!!!!!! The guy I took is a huge fan of the band and this was his first time seeing them live. He was inspired by this band when he was younger to start playing the drums. He is now in a kick A?? band and everyone is all about his drumming. Less Thank Jake knows how to get the crowd going. Definately would see them again. The first time I saw them was at a bigger venue and I didn't get to have that being in front of the stage experience but this time I did. The HOB is the best Venue for shows for sure!!!!

Fishbone and Less than Jake rocked

by StringerSka on 12/7/09House of Blues San Diego - San Diego

While the headliner, less than jake was great and fishbone was AMAZING. the opening pop-punk band, The Swellers were a bit off genre and Cage was waaaay off genre and literally got booed off the stage. He came off as kind of an idiot

    Good with an exception

by AnonPoster on 12/7/09House of Blues San Diego - San Diego

Concert was great, with one exception - Cage. The mere fact that this guy was even allowed on stage is why the rating is no higher than a 3. His "performance" was like a really bad karaoke night. There was no musical styling. There was just a guy muffling nonsensical words into the mic with synthesized beats being played off a computer. My 5 yr old nephew could do that, think you can book a gig for him? I mean if that's all it takes... Other than that, concert was great, LTJ rocked the place.

    Amazing Show

by JessE1 on 12/7/09House of Blues Sunset Strip - Hollywood

I've seen LTJ a ton of times, and they never disappoint. HOB is a great venue for a show like this, there is no bad place to be in the entire place. I'm short so it was great to be able to see so well.

    Fishbone was amazing!

by DollFace85 on 12/7/09House of Blues San Diego - San Diego

The Swellers were a forgettable bunch of young boys singing about god-knows-what and the music was painfully predictable. THEN there was Cage- a fat boy on a laptop with turntables and a skinny little freak who looked high on heroin rolling around on stage pretending to rap- it was total emo hip-hop- we were all screaming "slit your wrists already!" and then he "sang" a "song" about hanging himself... how appropriate. Thank God Fishbone followed shortly thereafter. Fishbone has the most uplifting and inspiring energy! The explosion of GOOD music and captivating charisma made this band blow my mind! This was my first time to see them and I will totally make it to another concert of theirs. Less Than Jake was as always energetic and great. Truly, I was more impressed by Fishbone.
