Just saw Led Zeppelin 2 at Revolution in Fort Lauderdale and was pleasantly surprised. Usually "cover acts" can tend to be cheesy, but these guys took the music and their on stage "presence" seriously. Kudos to the guys for nailing it rock solidly hard, the way Zep used to do. I've seen Led Zeppelin in concert and although their musicianship has raised the bar for where rock music aspires to be, anyone following in their footsteps may be attempting the unattainable. But, Led Zeppelin 2 gives it their valiant effort. Led Zep 2 goes beyond the obvious, establishing the group's original look and mannerisms to make it a very enjoyable and fun evening of music. Delving deep into the Zep catalog, the song selection had several surprises. The only downside of the show may be in the vocals and guitar mix. Often during the show, the vocals were mixed so low that you couldn't hear certain key "Plant-isms" that were attempted but lost in the mix. There may have been some guitar leads lost in the mix too, but overall the band worked hard to nail the overall sound. I give them credit for switching out all the guitars in an effort to capture the different Zep guitar sounds and styles. On the other hand, the drummer and bass combination was second to none and the Bonham look and sound-a-like drummer was an animal on the kit, perfectly driving each tune...the real Bonzo would've been proud! Led Zeppelin paved the artistic roadmap for the future of rock music. Even back in the late 60's, they were ahead of their time. Thanks to the Led Zeppelin 2 guys for their genuine tribute to one of rock's best bands in the world!
