The actual League event was a lot of fun - the crowd was great, the games were a blast, wonderful experience! The venue was a major disappointment. We did not find out until we had been at the venue for about an hour that there was no re-entry allowed. There was a pre-event that started at 10am and the actual games didn't start until 2:30. But NRG made it so you were locked inside and had to buy the overpriced food there. It seemed pretty shady to me that they didn't indicate no reentry anywhere except for the backside of the gate you came in. Also, in the entire stadium, there was no drinking water available for free. With the COVID restrictions the water fountains were turned off and none of the food vendors had water available outside of a bottle. Very disappointing. The staff was rather gruff and unpleasant. Seemed to be generally annoyed at any questions or just life in general. LCS stuff was a solid 8/10, NRG was at best a 4/10
Being in the crowd for Danny's baron steal + penta was one of the coolest things I have ever been a part of, the energy of that crowd was really something else and I get happy every time I think back at it.
This was my first live experience with this type of event and it was absolutely fantastic. The whole experience from the venue to the production was top notch. Hope LOL returns here soon
I have been watching LCS since 2016 but never had the chance to go the see any event live. Everything exceeded my expectations from the venue to seeing the casters/analysts to the crowd. The only thing that sucked was watching my team liquid go home so soon but other then that it was an amazing experience!
The atmosphere was amazing. Really cool and lifetime experience
I wish there was more time to do the before activities. We were not able to do the games because all the lines were to long. Maybe just a couple more hours. Loved being with the fellow gamers. ❤️ Live evil
This was my first LCS event and it was a banger from start to finish. So glad they had it in Texas and hope they come back again.
So I have to preface this by saying day 2 was somewhat better than day 1 as far as the stadium goes. The LCS itself was awesome. It was a great 2 days. The stadium employees (except for a few) needed some extra training (day 1 to be more specific). The lady by the curtain waiting to let us in was so rude. She kept threatening everyone that if they touched her she was going to hurt someone. She then pushed me out of the way when I was trying to walk down the stairs. Also, the employees at the gate did not give out wrist bands to the floor seats. So we were told we could not get to our seats without this band. We then had to contact multiple people to figure out how to get a band to get to our seat. Then a giant popcorn got spilled by my seat. I contacted 5 different people to ask to have it cleaned up (including a so called manager) and it NEVER happened. It was crazy to me how clueless most of the staff was. It was never anyone’s responsibility to help and they could never find someone who’s responsibility it was to help. The staff on day 1 was so bad (with the exception of one girl who walked us around the stadium and asked multiple people to find someone to help us get our bands for our seats). Day 2 was definitely better. I still felt like a lot of the staff was still ready to beat someone up, but we didn’t have the issues we had on day 1.
EG 3-0 BOTH DAYS BABY THATS WHAT IM TALKIN ABOUT THATS WHAT IVE BEEN WAITING FOR PLEASE COME BACK TO HOUSTON AT YOUR EARLIEST CONVINECE I WILL SELL MY FIRST BORN CHILD FOR TICKETS.
What an event… start to finish the event was amazing, from the stage to the audience it was so cool to see these athletes perform in person for the first time in years! The venue was great with a good split between main stage and fan fest on the backside during the mornings. The finals on Sunday were loud and proud for the teams with great effects to bring it to another level of hype!
The energy of a stadium is the best! You can't duplicate it with a home party. The fan fest was so fun! Even more cool fan fest booths would have been awesome-er. I felt like they could have had more interactive booths. Overall though, totally worth it.
This was something I’ve wanted to do for a very long time and this event was no disappointment. I was so hype I lost my voice and I don’t regret it at all. This will be a memory I have for a lifetime. I wish the lines had been a little better managed though. The chaos of the crowds made enjoying any of the booths nearly impossible.
The LCS event was fantastic! Overall, my group of 4 had a great time. Our only complaint was the NRG Stadium. A few of their security employees were overly aggressive - I accidentally walked on the wrong side of tables to get down to fan fest and was aggressively yelled at. There were also not enough concession stands open - the lines were extremely long and the concession areas were over crowded. I think the audience should have been allowed to take our seats on the performance side much earlier - it would have prevented the massive crowds that formed by concessions between fan fest ending and the games beginning.
The tickets weren’t expensive for the tickets we got. And we were on the floor. But the event was a very cool experience. Getting to hear the crowd and how loud it was. Watching the players and announcers walk by us. The whole experience was very cool and I would definitely do it again!
2 days of top tear league of legends in the NRG stadium, going crazy with the crow watching the casters and analyst desk live, participating in the stands, getting a chance to get my EG swag, Ill do it again for the world finals!
all the way from the middle east to houston texas to watch the finals!
Loved all the fan events and the League Team + Grubhub did a great job delivering a stellar event.
The 5-game series was such a nailbiter. The venue (LCA) was incredible. Great food, drinks, people. Comfortable seats, great merch. The event was hosted by Rocket Mortgage who, while a non-endemic partner, was so on-point with their support. They had a killer tent with great swag, we got to meet 100T (the team they sponsor), and they facilitated so much more fun stuff to do at this event than we've seen at any previous Split Finals in any other market. Detroit, as a host city, was fantastic. We had such incredible food for every meal. Great bars and even better hotels all in walking distance. There's still so much grit to this city but it's simultaneously reborn with style and swagger. Thank you Riot, thank you Rocket Mortgage, thank you Clutch Gaming, CLG, Cloud 9, and of course Team Liquid for such a great memory. This is a standout.
LCS summer finals 2019 was a fun event that I got to experience with good friends. Would attend more events if I have the chance.
