    Disappointed at New Venue

by RockfestFan on 7/6/18Baxter Arena - Omaha

I have been attending the Pride festivals for the last 14 years. The Parade this year was the BEST I have ever attended! While there have been improvements with the festival in those years, this year was the worst. The only good thing about in being at Baxter Arena was indoors to avoid the heat. The overall feel of Pride seemed so disconnected...the vendors in one area, concerts in another. Where was the food? It was outside?? Not sure why there was none indoors. And the 18+ area, was quite obsurd. I thought it would be like a drinking area, events for those 18+, but was just an area to display the sex toys. I had a friend attend for the first time and was embarrassed to take her to the 18+ area. While I get it was an optional area, is it really necessary to showcase those kind of things at an event that is to celebrate our community as a whole? I get that people are into that, but what does it say about us to have an area "designated" to sex toys. I'm not sure why it was moved from Stinson Park to begin with. Why can Maha Music Festival be at Stinson Park and not the Pride Festival? Sounds a bit discriminating to me. You can't tell us it's because of Parking or the Farmer's Market, because that would be a lie. The pricing was quite ridiculous as well. I bought tickets in advance, $12/person, but ended up paying a total of $35 after fees and tax; so about $17 per ticket. My friend bought tickets the day of and was $18, no tax, no fees. So how is this fair? I saved a dollar by buying ahead? That does not make sense. Just overall, not happy. I really enjoy going every year, to see old friends, take new ones, and enjoy the sense of community it brings to the area. But as stated above, I was just not pleased. Hope to see it changed for next year.

    Great event this year!

    by Friendly2 on 7/3/18Baxter Arena - Omaha

Loved that most of the event was indoors this year. Lots of drink options and food too. Entertainment was so much improved this year. Could have done without a song called "F" Your Wall" being screamed out as an audience of mixed adults and children listen. Not exactly inclusive. But overall a great time and hope they do it like this next year too.

    Heartland Pride

    by Prideuser85 on 7/3/18Baxter Arena - Omaha

The festival was much better this year. The runway was amazing! The drag was fun. Could have used more food vendors. The inside arena was nice. Blocking off part of the concourse until 7pm didn't make much sense to me, but over all the event was fun.

    Funny, Relevent, and Worth It

by Justindlowe on 2/5/18Parker Playhouse - Ft Lauderdale

Peaches Christ took a classic story and made it modern and gay...with local flavor. The cast was amazing, especially with only a few days of rehearsals. The comedy was on point and consistent. Highly recommend.
