About Las Vegas Motor Speedway
For even faster times in Sin City, head a few miles northeast of the Strip, to the far corner of the Las Vegas Valley. There you'll find the 1,200-acre motorsports complex known as the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The speedway, which now features nine different racetracks, is a relatively new addition to the American motorsports scene, but it's become a destination for racing fans in short order. At various points on the calendar, it is home to NASCAR's top racing series, NASCAR's pickup truck racing series, and NHRA drag racing, among other events.
Las Vegas Motor Speedway History
The speedway's roots go back to 1972 when the Las Vegas Speedrome opened. A road course and drag strip, the Speedrome added a short track in 1985. Eleven years later, Ralph Engelstad of what was then the Imperial Palace and Casino joined up with William Bennett of the Sahara Hotel to build a $72 million superspeedway on the site of the Speedrome. IndyCar driver Richie Hearn christened the shiny new digs with a victory in the Las Vegas 500K. Two years later, NASCAR's cup series came to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The inaugural race, the Las Vegas 400, was won by Mark Martin, with 120,000 people in attendance. As of 2020, Jimmie Johnson held the track record for Cup Series victories with four.
Visitors to Las Vegas Motor Speedway should be sure to check out the Neon Garage, an interactive fan zone known in racing circles as "NASCAR's Disneyland." It's located in the center of the speedway's infield and features concession stands, live music, the Winner's Circle, and up-close-and-personal access to drivers and their race teams. Lucky fans might come away with a souvenir lug nut. Beyond racing events, the speedway also offers a variety of driving "experiences" for car lovers who want to get behind the wheel themselves.

I'm from france for see that , it was amazing !!! very good days at Las Vegas Thanks you !!! :) :) :)
Great night for racing at the LVMS. Will make sure and be back next year
There were less races, the monster truck died, the jet car was a flop and the fireworks too short and felt unfinished. Last year was better. Plus everything seemed to cost more this year.
Sheer Crazy AWESOMENESS! Can't wait til next year!
The best of both worlds - like small town Saturday night racing meets big-time racing. Lots and lots of action, $1 food and drinks. What's not to love
Not being local, the difference between The Bullring, Las Vegas Speedway and Las Vegas Speedway wasn't obvious. The Bullring is a small circuit not much larger than an average motorway junction roundabout, so it wasn't quite the NASCAR experience we were expecting. that said it was a fairly enjoyable evening including lots of junior/mini's events as well as senior races. It is extremely stop/start and often takes 15/20mins to get going again. The big downside of the evening was being stiffed for drinks by a snot nosed kid who swore blind to her manager that she'd served us even though we were stood there empty handed! Her manager backed her up and cut us off for the rest of the evening! Lesson to be learned, if you're coming in from the UK make sure everyone in your party has photo ID on them. They were far to strict on the number of drinks that can be served per person (2).
If you are a car fan and have not been to the Las Vegas motor speedway, I highly recommend that you go.The neon garage is a great experience seeing the inter workings in the garage area.; watching the cars pull out of their garages headed out to the track, seeing the crews, crew chiefs and drivers up close A warning about getting out of the neon garage there may be a line. Also getting out the parking lot is a challenge after the race. So plan on tail gating at the end of the race. Over all we had a great time and plan to go back next year.
We had a blast and enjoyed the track and the nationwide race a lot!
Dont forget your ear protection! Took 2 minutes to park & 5 minutes to leave. The whole experience was organized for pure enjoyment for the fan.
Racing was excellent. The track and facility are excellent. I would recommend this event to anyone interested in NASCAR. More people should attend Nationwide races. The racing is exciting.
I always enjoy the racing at Vegas. Great organizing staff, no headaches.
First time seeing a Nascar event in person. I have always been told that attending a Nascar event in person is much better than watching it on TV. Well needless to say I never felt it was that great at all.
We have been going out to NASCAR for the past 10 Years. We park our 5-wheel and camp out for the weekend. Even thought it was raining on Friday we were disappointed that the appreciation event was shut down due to the rain, i'm sure it could had been moved to under cover. it would had fill up some of our down time. All in all we always have a good time.
easy to get tickets, easy to get to track great event !!!! would reccommend !!!!
The truck race was as expected but the main reason I bought tickets was to see the Global Rally Cross race. Saw it on TV a few months back and wanted to see it in person. The race starting procedure was seriously flawed and needs to be reworked. The first run resulted in a car not being able to jump the ramp successfully which resulted in a crash. The driver was ok but the $350,000.00 car was destroyed. Cause. The track was watered down in the area that the racer would use to gain speed enought to jump the ramp. The wreck delayed the race for nearly an hour. Once they got it started againg they kept making errors on starting. The crowds loved the race when it was happening but grew anxious and irritated when it took so long in between. Hopefully they will have it again and have the bugs worked out.
We took our two kids, and everyone had a blast. Need more ATMs, or vendors need to start accepting plastic.
i was a long day filled with excitment and long delays. The truck race started late but was as fun as watching nascar. The delay in set up and time between races and even during the rally car ruined the event. rally cars is one of the coolest events I have ever seen but may not be worth the long waits. Even all the consetion stands closed 1.5 hours before the even was over.
I really enjoy the formula d racing, actually I'm a nascar fan (don't laugh) and this is so fast paced I love it! We had VIP tickets at the Vegas track and I have a new respect for the sport being so close to the speed, action, and SMOKE!!! Will be at the finals rooting for Dai Yoshiara!
awesome!!! just Awesome!!! Who's Danny George? who cares!!
