About

Larry David co-created "Seinfeld," which debuted in 1989 and ran for nine seasons. As head writer and executive producer, the pressure of delivering a weekly show led to his abuse of anabolic steroids, which contributed to his ill-temper and shrunken testicles. In 1999, HBO aired his onehour special, "Curb Your Enthusiasm," which spawned the series. In it, he plays an incredibly gifted, loveable writer who spreads bonhomie and good cheer to everyone fortunate enough to encounter him. During one of "Curb's" many long hiatuses, David created two new shows, "Girls" and "Orange is the New Black." To better understand the motivation of his female characters, he began cross-dressing and moved into the Barbizon Hotel for Women. He was evicted after his true identity was uncovered when he evacuated naked from a fire started by his roommate who forgot to unplug her curling iron. After a spiritual sabbatical in Poland, he returned to the US in 2009 to star in Woody Allen's comedy, "Whatever Works." The movie garnered David the prestigious Gottlieb Award for "Best Actor with No Training and No Idea What He Was Doing." Then in 2013, he co-wrote and starred in the HBO Films' comedy, "Clear History," elevating him to cult hero status amongst illiterates and diabetics. In 2015, he made his Broadway debut at the Cort Theater as an actor and playwright in "Fish in the Dark," which he penned over a three-day span while sitting on the toilet. The play broke all Broadway records for most coughing by an audience during a performance. He's currently pursuing his real estate license and can be contacted through the Inland Empire branch of "Century 21."

A Once in A Lifetime Evening

by Forever Fan on 4/2/24The Anthem - Washington

Larry David was engaging, humorous while displaying his own unique style of commentary. I could have sat there for another 2 hours! Thank you. Larry for coming to D. C.

Send this one to Richard for me.

by John on 4/2/24The Anthem - Washington

I had an amazing experience at the back corner of the show barely able to see over the crowd. Thank god for the giant screen above but other than the awkward seating the show was perfect. Larry just telling stories comes off better than most stand up. Getting to pick his brain vicariously through Marc was an interesting experience I wish the questions segment had lasted longer and been more organized. If they do more of these maybe have more audience interaction I thought those parts were great. Larry has his own modus operandi and that has to be respected. Larry David can not just be ordered to stand up and dance and yell like a monkey, he has to feel like doing that on his own.

Loved Larry, the Anthem staff not o much

by SNo on 4/1/24The Anthem - Washington

Seeing Larry David was amazing, something my friend & I were so excited for. Marc Maron did an excellent job, but it was just two guys having a chat so you really needed to focus on them. Most everyone was respectfully quiet because of this. However, 3 Anthem employees stood behind our row and had a loud conversation (not about the show). It was so distracting!! My friend finally had to get up and go over to them to ask them to stop. We missed some of Larry because of this and it really stinks. Do better, Anthem staff.

    Privilege to Attend

by Jessica Hill on 4/1/24The Anthem - Washington

This event was well organized and executed, all of the logistics easy and a great venue. The event was a free-form discussion, with no foreknowledge of the host, so very hard to know what to expect. Having Mark Marron lead the discussion was a perfect choice and the glimpse into Larry David's background and thoughts around two legendary shows was priceless. We were glued to every word, had a lot of laughs, and left feeling like we witnessed something special and truly unique. I'm very appreciative to have had the opportunity.

    Loved!!

by Julie C L on 5/5/22Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

Larry David has been making me laugh for so many years, but NOTHING, compares to watching him crack up as he recounts funny moments from his past. AfrickinDORABLE!!! I loved hearing him share stories from his life/career. I could have listened to him talk all night (I brought a sweater). It was an absolute pleasure.

Larry was great, but event seemed poorly planned

by Lori on 5/5/22Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

Larry was fantastic and maybe it ending abruptly was only fitting. He did say in the ad that people shouldn’t attend, so i get it. I will say though for how expensive the tickets were, the show should’ve gone on for the full time or at least a back up comedian should’ve been there.

    Bummer

Larry couldn’t save it. His moderator was so bad. The whole thing was bad. Two stars for the Curb clips I got to watch.

    Pretty, pretty, pretty good

by MJ on 5/5/22Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

If Larry could have had a different host, this would have been perfect. Larry called the host multiple times on the ridiculous topics of conversation and there were so many moments that were missed due to the host lack of intuition and awareness. Also, many topics could have been skipped or less time spent on them to get to better topics. They didn’t even get to the audience participation, which would have definitely given Larry more of an opportunity to be himself.

    Pretty…pretty… meh.

by D-Wags on 5/5/22Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

I love Larry David. I love Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm ranks as one of my all time favorite shows. Larry David is a comedy genius. But even Larry seemed underwhelmed at his show at The Greek Theatre. To call it a show would be like calling Seinfeld too plot driven. Like the title, it was merely a conversation. A conversation that I would have rather watched in front of my television in my warm home (yes, even with a winter coat, it was still cold. Just ask Larry.) I knew the title of the show was, “A conversation with Larry David,” but I sincerely thought that was the title of his standup routine. I didn’t think he was just gonna sit there and answer somewhat mundane questions about his career. There were no great bits or even that many funny anecdotes about his life/career. Sorry Larry. I will always watch anything that you’re a part of, but this show was pretty… pretty… disappointing.

    So fun, a little chilly

    by S. B. on 5/5/22Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

Really enjoyed seeing Larry David live. Super easy to park, get in, enjoy the show. All in all a great time. Outdoors so naturally a little chilly but Larry David made some jokes about it, and we all laughed.

    Cold Cold Heart

by Man Hands on 5/5/22Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

Enjoyed the venue… stellar! Larry was Larry which was the main reason I came… I was hoping to see more ingenuity in the show… maybe Larry coming out as Bernie Sanders for a minute… maybe some repartee with some (or all) cast members of Curb Your Enthusiasm? Maybe pass out the minibar refresher “Tap Water”… maybe a special guest appearance by Seinfeld cast member(s) who live in Los Angeles… and lastly, would have liked to see him answer audience questions they asked for on Twitter… mine being “who’s hands were displayed during the Seinfeld man hands episode? I say Puddy

Love Larry David, not the event

by Zeus1969 on 5/5/22Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

I have loved Larry David over the past 20 years. With that said, an interview with him at such a large venue as the Greek leaves a lot to be desired. I thought it was going to be a standup event, not an interview I could have easily watched on TV (not on a hard seat and sitting in the cold).

by Latte John on 5/5/22Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

Ehhhhh… just okay. Not worth the price I paid, but…just okay. The host was…mmmmm kind of bland. Forgettable experience, but love ya, Larry.

    Prett-ay, Prett-ay Funny

by Mamma on 5/5/22Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

We saw Larry at the Greek Theater. He is exactly the same on screen as off screen. It was a delightful discussion of his life in show business. His laugh is infectious.
