    A great musical experience!

by Cruz Motorsports on 4/24/23Ludlow Garage Cincinnati - Cincinnati

The Larry Carlton show at the Ludlow Garage was an incredible musical experience! I have been a fan of Larry Carlton for a few decades, and knowing his days of touring are closer to being over than starting made the over three hour trip to Cincinnati worthwhile. Keeping in mind that Larry Carlton just celebrated his 75th birthday, his ability to perform, and his showmanship has not diminished at all. The show was a mix of his solo music, the Jazz Crusaders, and Steely Dan songs, along with a great narrative. I hope I have another chance to see him live before he decides he is completely done with touring, but if I don't this was a show to remember! This was my first trip to the Ludlow Garage, but it will definitely not be my last! Went early to get a bite to eat at the bar, and was not disappointed by the venue or the food. After eating we made our way to the concert area, the seats were comfortable, and the venue is quite unique. But ultimately the most important thing is the mix, and the sound of the show. The Ludlow Garage has an incredible sound, and the mix was spot on!! I would recommend seeing an artist at the Ludlow Garage to everyone who enjoys an exceptional musical experience.

Killer Show in a Fantastic Venue

by Dan Peterson on 3/30/23Birchmere - Alexandria

Larry and the band sounded incredible! Tight and well-rehearsed! The sound was excellent with enough volume to give the live experience but not so much that the nuances of the performance were lost! The venue is a classic with ample parking (a little tight but still enough spots) and the food is excellent! No bad seats either so whether in the front or the back you can see and hear quite well!

    Larry @ Birchmere

by Rhythm on 3/29/23Birchmere - Alexandria

The Birchmere is an excellent venue to experience a musician such as Larry Carlton. Being close enough to follow facial expressions and finger movements is extraordinary. He’s played on more tunes than I was aware of which contributed to this phenomenal experience to hear him in person.

Goodbye to one of the greats

by Dogrocketp on 3/29/23Birchmere - Alexandria

This was announced as Larry’s last tour. He has health problems that are starting to limit him. Foe the last 50 years, he’s influenced my guitar playing. You cannot count the number of studio sessions he’s done, and great records that feature his guitar solos. It was hard to tell who was having more fun, the audience or the band. This was a night for the ages musically. If you have the chance to see him, do yourself a favor and do it.

    Nailed it!

by Steely Fan in MD on 3/29/23Birchmere - Alexandria

Despite claims of having "failed it" on occasion when performing some his classic solos live, Larry "nailed it" at the Birchmere. He gave us more than we hoped for with an exceptional (farewell?) performance. His band was also fantastic, to a man, as you would expect having been hand picked by one of the greatest studio musicians of our time. A++ for the show, D- for the Birchmere's food. What used to be rave worthy, is now cringe worthy. Next time, we eat at home.

    FANTASTIC sendoff

by Gary the Hitman on 3/29/23Birchmere - Alexandria

Fabulous concert! The band was tight as a drum. and Larry was in great form. Lots of Steely Dan songs, plus a few Crusaders tunes. As usual, the sound volume was slightly too loud, but that's almost always the case with live concerts. So sad that this is his farewell tour.

A great performance by the legendary guitarist and writer. A true professional. Engaged with the audience with brief story’s and quips. Great band and nice venue ( Jimmies jazz and blues club). Playing as well as on his many recordings. A bucket list show for me.

    Fantastic

by Doc65 on 1/31/23Jimmy’s Jazz and Blues Club - Portsmouth

Larry is an absolute icon and an amazing player. In my opinion possibly the greatest guitarist on the planet. Best part was how the sound wasn’t overly loud and yet your heard everything perfectly. Shout out to the fantastic venue at Jimmy’s Jazz and blues club. Nice setting and a great staff.

    Pretty good

by Bge on 1/31/23Jimmy’s Jazz and Blues Club - Portsmouth

Obstructed view was totally obstructed which was kind of a drag. Carlton can really play. Would have enjoyed him doing a few standard jazz tunes rather than the Steely Dan hits. The first album I ever bought was his Last Nite album in the late 80's after a guitar playing friend gave me a mix tape with Emotions Wound us So on it. Didn't realize he also played with Steely Dan at the time. It was a great album and l would loved to have heard him play All Blues rather than Kid Charlemagne.

    Great show old man

by Matt on 1/31/23Jimmy’s Jazz and Blues Club - Portsmouth

Larry doesnt have the dexterity at 75 that he did at 35 but more than makes up for it with shear talent and a really really tight band. Great show.

    Great show

by Gracie on 1/29/23The Vogel at Count Basie Center for the Arts - Red Bank

The artist was great. I loved the show. The seating at the event was not good. When you buy 2 tickets, you are not beside your spouse. You are seated across from each other. No one was happy and people kept switching seats to be together.
