LADY LAMB THE BEEKEEPER IN CONCERT:

Indie folk up-and-comer Lady Lamb The Beekeeper has spent years fine-tuning her craft and ammassing an impressive catalog of songs in the vein of Jeff Buckley, Okkervil River, and Alabama Shakes. Though Aly Spaltro, the woman behind the music, stands at just five-foot-two, she commands the stage with authority, radiating confidence and stunning ticket buyers with her soulful, mature vocals. She can usually be seen with a guitar slung around her shoulder but also dabbles with the ukulele and banjo, showing off stellar musicianship on the toe-tapping "Crane Your Neck" and the singalong "Between Two Trees". Her jangly folk songs are filled with poignant lyrics, and powerful moments like her a cappella rendition of "Up In The Rafters" never fail to bring the room to an awed hush. Lady Lamb The Beekeeper may have been New England's best kept secret, but with her live shows earning more and more buzz, it's safe to say the secret's out.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Lady Lamb The Beekeeper is the moniker of Maine-born indie folk musician Aly Spaltro . Influenced by artists including The Beatles, The Isley Brothers, and Neutral Milk Hotel, Spaltro started writing songs in high school. Both her lyrics and her stage name were inspired by journals she uses to record her dreams, and her evocative music provides listeners a glimpse of her extraordinary dreamscapes. Over the years Lady Lamb honed her craft with regular performances in Portland and Boston's club scenes. In 2010 she released her first LP Mammoth Swoon and won the Boston Music Award for Folk Artist of the Year. Following the release of her 2013 sohpomore album Ripley Pine, she penned a deal with Brooklyn-based label Mom+Pop (Sleigh Bells, Andrew Bird) for the release of her third album, 2015's After.

From beginning to end, this show was amazing. Aly impressed me from the first time I saw her a few years ago. Since then, she's become one of the best songwriters and musicians out there. Her shows are always a lot of fun,

    An Amazing Show!

by EveHolt on 5/17/11Bates College - Lewiston

I saw Lady Lamb the Beekeeper open for Cold War Kids at Bates College a few weeks ago. Both were amazing, but, while I did love the Cold War Kids, I was simply blown away by Aly's ability to get up on stage all by herself and absolutely silence a gymnasium full of rowdy college students. It was a fantastic show. You'll definitely want to see her if you get the chance!
