missed the mark
by Anonymous on 5/29/17Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 2 out of 5Was so excited for this, and go to the Hollywood Bowl 10+ times a year. This was one of the poorest productions I've been to. My biggest complaint was that the screen was hidden behind the speakers, so only half of the movie was visible. This wouldn't have been a problem if the movie was continuously being shown on the smaller screens, but they kept showing the orchestra. At the very beginning they had live singers doing the opening song and I'm sorry to say they were awful. With all of the talented people living in LA I was surprised that this was the quality of singer they had hired. The whole opening scene with the dancers running on stage was just a colorful, confused cluster. The only saving grace was the fireworks at the end of the show, but even then you had loud fireworks going off during a quiet part of the song, and silent fireworks blasting off over louder parts of the song. Just in general a poorly executed event for such a beautifully made movie.
