About

Los Angeles Clippers History

The Clippers joined the NBA in 1970 as the Buffalo Braves, an expansion team located in Buffalo, N.Y. The franchise selected future star forward Bob McAdoo in 1972 with the No. 2 overall pick in the NBA Draft. He was named NBA MVP in the 1974–75 season, and remains the only player in the history of the Clippers franchise to win that honor.

The franchise, led by new owner Irv Levin, moved to San Diego in 1978 and was renamed as the Clippers. The franchise's stay in San Diego didn't last long. Levin sold the team to Donald Sterling in 1981, and he moved the franchise 120 miles north to Los Angeles.

The Clippers began their best era of success in 2010, when they drafted Blake Griffin with the No. 1 overall pick. One season later they acquired Chris Paul in a trade with the New Orleans Hornets, and "Lob City" was born. They advanced to the second round of the playoffs that same season, recording their second playoff series win in 36 years. The Clippers followed that by setting a new franchise record with 56 wins in the 2012–13 season, which began a streak of five consecutive seasons with 50 or more wins and a playoff berth.

During the 2022–23 season, the Clippers, led by Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, again returned to the playoffs. They fell to the Suns in the first round.

    Nice arena but…

by Sports fan on 10/15/22Toyota Arena - Ontario

They need more food options. There’s lots of bars, but few concession stands.

    Great view, okay seats

by KrnMailMan on 10/6/22Climate Pledge Arena - Seattle

Game was awesome, great to watch a NBA game back in Seattle! The seats provided a great view but the seats did not match the view. They were just foldable chairs lined up close together. I have season tickets in the upper seats for the Kraken and those seats were more comfortable.

    No frills

by Black Bean Sauce on 10/6/22Climate Pledge Arena - Seattle

I was disappointed that there was no NBA merchandise or souvenirs of any kind. I also thought there might be fun basketball related activities in the arena, such as a hoop or pop a shot or a Sonics remembrance exhibit, but there was nothing but the exhibition game itself. So, I enjoyed the special guests they had during the game, but I think an NBA souvenir stand, amongst other NBA related activities in the arena would have helped elevate this event and make it more worthwhile.

    Stadium is Excellent

by Benny With the Semi on 10/6/22Climate Pledge Arena - Seattle

Climate Pledge should honestly host more NBA games. Potentially during the season, NBA fandom for sonics is already here. Clippers put on a show, Portland was…Dame was nice to see lol. If the NBA really wants to bring a team here then they would do their potential mid season tournament here or the playin tournament should be located here for neutral location.

So ready for NBA basketball in "my" back yard again

by Kat on 10/6/22Climate Pledge Arena - Seattle

The sights, sounds, the game, the past players & coaches, KAWHI LEONARD, PAUL GEORGE, DAMIAN LILLARD. I was certainly in the right place at the right time. Seattle has suffered long enough, and we deserve the return of NBA basketball. We proved that by having a full arena at 7:30pm on a Monday night! SUPER SONICS!!!!!!!

    Great experience!

by Mrsseau on 10/14/21Toyota Arena - Ontario

Wasn’t particularly proud of the final score but totally enjoyed the fan friendly environment. The arena is a great place for games, concerts etc. The players signed autographs and took pictures with the fans. I was even blessed to take a photo with fan favorite and my favorite Patrick Beverly!! He was so nice and accommodating. Awesome night!!

    Lines were too long

by Jay on 10/14/21Toyota Arena - Ontario

The parking line to get in was unorganized. Get there as early as you can to avoid that. The concession lines were even worse. Missed part of the 2nd quarter waiting in line to buy snacks. Couldn’t order a pretzel because they were cold, I was gonna have to wait 10mins, got nachos instead but even the cheese on that was cold. The venue itself is great. There isn’t a bad seat there.

    Frustrated to get in

by Toney on 10/14/21Toyota Arena - Ontario

The entry into the stadium can go smoother takes too long to get inside when security is checking vaccination records at the scanning

Tickets too expensive for a preseason game

    by W. T. on 10/20/19Rogers Arena - Vancouver

On the positive side, Kawhi played decent minutes, as did the Unicorn and Doncic for the Mav’s but there was no intensity (as expected). However $75 for tickets 1 row from the very top in the corners is too rich to charge.

    Excellent Event

    by D. on 10/20/19Rogers Arena - Vancouver

I had a great time attending my first ever NBA game. The Mavericks and the Clippers put on an excellent show. A fun time was had by all. The seats were good and we'll worth the money.
