WELCOME TO LA CAGE AUX FOLLES!
Winner of three 2010 Tony Awards® including the award for BEST MUSICAL REVIVAL, this hilarious new production of LA CAGE AUX FOLLES was the biggest hit of the 2010 Broadway season, leaving audiences in stitches night after night!
LA CAGE starring George Hamilton and Christopher Sieber tells the story of Georges (George Hamilton), the owner of a glitzy nightclub in lovely Saint-Tropez, and his partner Albin (Christopher Sieber), who moonlights as the glamorous chanteuse Zaza. When Georges' son brings his fiancée's conservative parents home to meet the flashy pair, the bonds of family are put to the test as the feather boas fly! LA CAGE is a tuneful and touching tale of one family's struggle to stay together... stay fabulous... and above all else, stay true to themselves!
With a glorious score of hummable melodies and a dynamite cast featuring the "notorious and dangerous Cagelles," LA CAGE is an indisputable musical comedy classic... and this extraordinary new version shows you why!

Wonderful show! The intro was very funny and the play was a great mix of laughs, drama, good actors and great vocals. All in all a very fun show.
The show was upbeat and fun, until George Hamilton's parts. Singing almost put me to sleep. The overall production was great but no energy from the leading man. He seemed weak and his singing/acting brought the show down. Wish they would have cast someone else after seeing his performance. But A+ to the rest of the talent, amazing.
I was fortunate enough to see this production several times last year on Broadway. It was one of the best shows I've seen in years. Not so this touring production. George Hamilton is huge negative in this production. Tuesday night in Minneapolis he seemed feeble, no energy and had a hard time delivering his lines. At intermission several people around me were wondering if he was ill. Christopher Sieber was fantastic as was the rest of the cast. If you can get past Hamilton this production is a delightful night at the theater. I had planned on going again but will not because of Hamilton's poor performance.
The energy was off the charts! The gowns and the boyz in the gowns were fabulous. George Hamilton has just enough zip left in his vocal chords and dance steps to bring it on home.
The play was just great. Lots of theatrics i.e. great costumes, great dancers, great singers! It was funny and sweet. I'm so glad I was able to attend the show.
What better place than Iowa for La Cage Aux Folles.....From the opening discussion with one of the Cagelles who allowed us all to celebrate who we are....remembering we are who we are.....to the finale...this Iowa audience had a grand time!!! Christopher Sieber as Albin was "spot on", Tears flowed on "I Am What I Am". Loved the butler/maid.....the Cagelles were GREAT! Fun to see George Hamilton...bless him...hope he makes it through the tour....he seemed tired and difficult for him to do dance steps....but what a great couple!!!! By the second act he had more to give the audience. The set, the costumes.....all the supporting cast were a delight. Thanks. Also, we had great seats...I hate seeing theater in a civic center if seats are too far away....there just isn't the intimacy. But we were lucky this time! Always the ushers and people working at the D.M C.Center are so kind and so happy....I always love that! Thanks for a great time!!!!!
It was so entertaining, hilarious! We were glad to see the show in Des Moines.
i thought the recent production of la cage aux folles was slow and out-dated. george hamilton, although still dashing, was stiff and too old, i felt, for the part. christopher sieber did an amazing job - and i often thought - helping george around the stage and through his lines. the jokes and music just seemed not really relevant for 2011. a little too slapstick and corny. i was disappointed.
Wow - What a show! The cast did put on an amazing show... the Cagelles were mesmerizing... and Christopher Sieber was simply amazing! His performance was pure musical & comic genius. The show was so good, i bought tickets for the following days performance & went again... if you get a chance to see the show during their tour - i highly recommend it!
It was fun, exciting, entertaining and enjoyable. I highly recommend it.
Not as funny as the movie but very good. I loved the second half first was a little slow
I had the fortunate ability to see the Broadway production of La Cage with Kelsey Grammer and Tony winner Douglas Hodge in August of 2010. My expectation in seeing touring productions is that they will bring the same Broadway quality and energy to stages throughout the country. While the overall production quality was great for La Cage here in Des Moines, I'm very sorry to say that the energy of its leading man (George Hamilton) was not. George seemed physically weak and at times even a bit feeble, as he stumbled in singing the first verse of the finale. While I am a fan of George's previous work, I don't think he was the right choice to play the La Cage "Georges". I'm also concerned that he physically won't be able to last for the whole tour! The rest of the cast was as just brilliant as the group we saw in NYC. Christopher Sieber was AMAZING as Albin, and his rendition of "I Am What I Am" brought me to tears and the audience to their feet.
Albin and the "ladies" were completely outstanding. So talented and the dancing was fantastic! The butler was a such a scene stealer!
Not a bad show, not a good show. Glad I saw it, would not go to a repeat performance.
We went with our adult children and everyone enjoyed it very much. Thank you!
Great show. Good for all ages. My girls (ages 7 & 10) loved it!
Entertaining and filled with variety. Enjoyed the comedy dialogue before the show. It was a bonus for those who arrived early. Loved the costumes and the energy. George Hamilton was endearing and provided nice balance with the other boisterous characters. Dynamic show!
I had such a good time Wednesday night at the theater. La Cage Aux Folles was a wonderful experience. The audience was completely involved and I have not laughed that long and hard in a long time. Absolutely loved it.
My daughter and I loved it, we weren't sure, but have seen the movie the Birdcage. The dancing was wonderful and we laughed ALOT. It was very entertaining and would see it again if it comes back. We are going to see Wicked and have seen that in various places & States (Chicago/Omaha/DM). Would highly recommend. Also, LOVED the "lady" at the beginning warming up the audience, she was hilarious.
