GER
by Demigogg on 12/5/22Cobb's Comedy Club - San FranciscoThe show started with 2 opening acts. The first one was cringy and not so funny. He only got funny once he started talking about his Egyptian heritage. The second act was very funny but in that stream of consciousness story telling about a mundane subject seen in a different point of view sort of way. We all politely laughed and waited for the real act. Finally, Kyle Kinane came out on stage. Wow! He's shorter than I thought. But from the first sentence he had us laughing. He talked about his gout and his GER and his other ailments we can all relate to but he did it in a way that made us see the humor of it all. He explores his feelings and his view on life with the fine eye of a scholar and a philosopher. And he makes us laugh as he is doing it. I discovered him by accident online and listened to "I Like His Old Stuff Better" session and I related so well to that "failed punk-rocker out of the suburbs" thing. I could almost see my life through of his eyes and it made my regrets more bearable. I continued to devour everything he's done since then and felt it was well worth it to see him live at Cobb's in the freezing San Francisco weather through 2 not-so-funny comedians and the 2 drinks minimum. I've heard him being described as being a misanthrope in other reviews. Nothing can be further from the truth. He loves humanity. He just wants us to love him back. But damn, he was short!
