Korn in Concert

Since 1993, Korn has pushed boundaries, combining traditional heavy metal with elements of hip-hop, grunge, and alternative rock. They are considered pioneers of the Nu Metal genre, and the band's founders name the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Faith No More as their earliest influences. Korn's ignition of the Nu Metal spark inspired a long list of performers to create within the genre. Examples include Coal Chamber, Slipknot, and Limp Bizkit. Korn released their twelfth studio album, The Serenity of Suffering, on October 21, 2016. Guitarist Brian "Head" Welch has said that the album is "heavier than anyone's heard us in a long time". Korn promoted this release during their 2017 tour, The Serenity of Summer. Other Korn tours include 2013's The Reunion Tour with Head, 2011's The Path of Totality Tour, the 2010 Ballroom Blitz Tour, the 2009 Escape from the Studio Tour, the 2007 Bitch We Have a Problem Tour, the 2005 See You on the Other Side World Tour, the 2002 Untouchables Tour, and the 2000 Sick and Twisted Tour. In addition, Korn's recurring Family Values Tour took the band across the United States in 1998, 1999, 2001, 2006, and 2007. In 2013, Korn resurrected the Family Values Tour as a one-day Family Values Music Festival. Listening to a recording is nothing like being at a Korn show, no matter how loud the stereo goes. Fans go to live performances again and again to feel the powerful music pulse through their bodies. They often comment on the consistent energy and passion in Korn live performances, and venues are typically packed. Expect to be on your feet the entire time, and keep an eye out for the mosh pit that always forms right in front of the stage. Shows are a mix of new and old, including long-time favorites such as Shoots and Ladders, No Place to Hide, Freak on a Leash, and Here to Stay. Korn has won numerous awards, including two Grammys and two MTV Video Music Awards.

Korn's founding members, James Shaffer, Reginald Arvizu, and David Silveria, started working together under the name L.A.P.D. They were based in Oakland, California. The group moved to Los Angeles, where they released two albums. After adding Brian Welch and Jonathan Davis, they renamed the band Korn and started recording at Underground Chicken Sound. By 1993, Korn played gigs fairly consistently, and they attracted the attention of Epic Records. This led to the release of their first demo album, Neidermayer's Mind, which was popular with fans who were excited about their unique sound.

  • KORN

Awesome amazing -Korn is always a good show. Tight band that rocks the house.

  • KoRn is the best they have been in years!!!

by KoRnKiDaArOn on 7/12/09Main Street Armory - RochesterRating: 5 out of 5

The show started with a band called His Name Is Yesterday. I never heard of them but i thought they were a decent metal band. Next was a band ive heard much good things about but never had the chance of seeing, and that band is Caustic. They tore down the house giving the crowd an extreme energy. That energy was soon lost with the next band to hit stage. That band was Burn Halo. The band looked like a bunch of indian cowboys at a heavy metal show. The bands sound remined me of Hinder or Buck Cherry which to me shouldnt be at a metal show, and especially shouldnt be opening for KoRn. Last to hit the stage was the one, the only, KoRn!!! The crowd went crazy as soon as the light went off and Zac started playing the church-like intro to "Right Now". The whole crowd turned into one big mosh pit as soon as Jonathan Davis came out and screamed "Come on!". You can tell who the crowd really came to see cause the moshing never took a break until KoRn left the stage for a few minutes to take a break. After the little break, KoRn came back out with "Blind". The crowd really went nuts for the last 3 songs. KoRn ended the night with "Got The Life" which was weird to hear cause the first 5 times i saw KoRn they always ended with "Blind". I'd have to say that this was the best KoRn sounded since Head and David left the band. Ray is an amazing drummer that has an ear for greatness just like David, and Shane plays just as good if not better then Head. Overall it was a great concert besides the indian cowboys Burn Halo who got booed the whole time they were on stage.

Great show. Would see them again at HoB in AC. Security was reasonable. Ticket prices fair.

  • Korn was awesome!

by Espo on 7/12/09House of Blues Atlantic City - Atlantic CityRating: 5 out of 5

We loved seeing Korn at the house of blues- it was a nice size venue . It didnt matter where you stood in the room you could see them clear as day and the sound was amazing. If you are the rowdy type- the mosh pit was awesome and it was very cool to see the band that close up. The kicker was meeting Fieldy before the show during his book singing and seeing Jonathon Davis at the after party where he DJ-ed. It was an awesome night that I wont soon forget. The only thing that I would complain about (if any)_ were the drink prices. I found them to be a little outragous.

  • Korn House of Blues

by Jisny on 7/12/09House of Blues Atlantic City - Atlantic CityRating: 4 out of 5

The show was really great. Cool to see them in such a small venue. Very intimate. And they played songs I never thought I would see.

  • Korn...the best!

by TheFish on 7/12/09Main Street Armory - RochesterRating: 5 out of 5

The venue was excellent, with a bar and large stage this is the place to see any band in Rochester NY. The capacity also holds about five thousand people so it can get rowdy and awesome. Bottom line is this is the place to go. Aside form the location Korn is one of my favorite bands and have been around for over a decade now and that in itself is amazing! I have seen them twice now and would see them again!

  • awesome show

  • korn concert

by poser on 7/11/09DECC Arena - DuluthRating: 5 out of 5

the show over all was good. the first band playing burned halo? i think was good, i heard them on the radio a few times, and didn't know them that well. they seem a little upset that peopl didn't know the words to the song but they weren't that big so give it a break. then the used played and over all ok, berts mic was so quite that you could not hear him sing and he was the lead singer, and i was right front row. korn played and was a blast. i had a lot of fun. over all i've been to what 8 concerts but never a metal show and it rocked. i even got a korn drum stick. how sick is that. had a blast. one thing though a lot of drinks and drugs being done on the floor.

  • better than expected

by nancyo on 7/11/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - ClarkstonRating: 5 out of 5

This concert we went as a family, myself, my husband and our two daughters 12 and 15. One of them is a huge Korn fan and the other one a huge Avenged Sevenfold fan. Both of them had a wonderful time, the stadium was clean and the staff was fabulous. We were there for 5 hours because their were 5 bands which at first I thought would be a really long time but it was not too long, everything was very organized and well thought out. We were all very impressed. I would absolutely recommend both bands to anyone as well as DTE. Thank you for letting me give you my review. Oh and I just wanted to mention Duff's new band (Guns and Roses Guitarist) was unforgettable. I could not believe how great they sounded and looked. Thanks again.

  • KoRn RULEZ!!!

by themodifieddog on 7/11/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - ClarkstonRating: 5 out of 5

I like my music complicated and played well, and KoRn like usual surpassed all my expectations. This was only the 4th time I've seen them play live, although I do consider myself to be a KoRn "Junkie", (really that's all I listen to, except for some Disturbed now & then)! Jon Davis' vocals haunt me, the longer I listen the more his passion for music seems to come out. KoRn and it's members are poised to rule the music industry. The members of KoRn are supurb musicians, as evident by the way KoRn can still stand on it's musical principles even when touring with only 3 of 5 members, and sound damn good doing it! ROCK ON KoRn..............

  • Rocked the house

Great show. Second time I've seen Korn and even without David and Head, they still put on a helluva show. One of my favorite bands ever.

  • Korn was Awesome!

Korn put on a great show and having Avenged Sevenfold open for them was great!!!

  • Simply Amazing!!

by AshTastic on 7/11/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - ClarkstonRating: 5 out of 5

This was my fourth time seeing Avenged, and I had the best seats I have ever had. The entire show was awesome, Completely made my day!! First time seeing KoRn, but it will not be the last, they have a massively energizing performance!!

  • Korn still has it, but not for long

by JeffB on 7/11/09DECC Arena - DuluthRating: 4 out of 5

The band played all the hits you go to see, while mixing in some decent new material. they still played well, but were obviously aging. there drummer is currently injured, and munky had to wear a back brace throughout the entire concert. jonathan had to take several breaks from singing. although there were these signs of aging, id still recommend anyone who wants to see korn see them! maybe now more than ever, given they may not be physically able to tour, sooner rather than later.
