This was our third year attending Stars and Guitars. The concept is fantastic, the artists are amazing, and the previous venue was perfect! This year’s venue— not so much.
Let’s start with parking. Parking was a mess, with no one guiding traffic into the grassy field we ended up parking in. There was no one stationed to help control the lines of parked cars, so when we left, we found the entrance was blocked by parked cars. We ended up driving to the far side and jumping the sidewalk down to the road, in order to exit. Oh and the lights were not functioning at all, so it was pitch black in the grassy field.
Everything seemed disorganized. We arrived at 7pm, thinking we were late. Nope. They had just opened the doors. So there was a loooooong snaking line to get inside. Once inside, the lines to get a drink or snack were unreal, so we skipped the idea of enjoying a drink.
When we got to our seats, we sat on the second level and 1) our view of the stage was partially blocked by the balcony railing, and 2) the sound system did not carry well into the upper level.
To be honest, we left early. And I’m glad we did, because of the above-mentioned problem getting out of the grassy parking lot. I really really hope the venue is changed back to the Broward Center for the Performing Arts for next year’s show. This year, we felt it was just a waste of time and money.
