The venue had great sound with the ability to watch the concert up close. Really enjoyed the song selection. Kip told stories/information about his different albums which made it very interesting. It was almost like just hanging out with him for an evening. His musical talent as well as his vocal ability was simply amazing. Enjoyed the show very much!
What a night, Kip's performance was special, being that it took place at the glass cactus nightclub in Grapevine added even more greatness about the entire evening spent with Kip. We were right up next to the stage, heck, Kip even let me sit on the stage while he preformed. He played solo and played his 12 string guitar, and sounded incredible! He interacted with the audience, even answered our questions, took request, allowed us to come on stage and sing with him, Gage me his guitar pic, and to top it all off he came into the club after his show and drank beer with us. Even his Rock band from VH1 was there, they were so cool and Kip was thrilled to see them. My only wish would have been that his show was promoted better, only about 30 people were there for this special night. The local radio stations didn't start promoting until a week before the show, and they used the skid row show from Saturday to only mention Kip Winger in concert. Everyone that thought about going and didn't ended up missing one hell of a night! The glass cactus night club is in my opinion the best venue in the metro plex. Not only because it's located a mile from my Grapevine home, but because it has the best stage area, bar, deck, food, friendly staff and more then any venue in DFW.
If you've never seen Kip live, you're missing out! He is supremely talented as a musician! He seriously is a complete musician and has way more depth (and talent) than most people know. His voice is still phenominal - although he says he's lost a bit in that department. None of us noticed. Check out his solo stuff - it's probably better than a lot of the Winger stuff. Great show, great venue too! I saw him at Showcase Live in Foxboro, MA.
I'm a huge fan of Kip (solo) and his band Winger, but never got the chance to see Kip alone until this show. Listening to some of his live solo stuff and studio releases, I knew this would be a good show, but I was blown away by what I saw and heard. First, it was just him and his guitar. Other solo shows have included a few other people with him, but not this night. Second, he sounded amazing. Not that I was worried, but his music is not easy to play (and yes, he had his beautiful 12-string acoustic along) and the lyrics are even tougher. Agreeing to take requests was fairly bold and he did an amazing job with what we asked for. Third, the crowd was amazing and Kip even said "this is one of the best acoustic solo shows I've ever had.. due to you Boston!" He was right. Everyone knew the words to the songs, helped him sing, and it was like having him right in your living room. Tales from the road, taking requests (and struggling with the lyrics some which was fairly cool) and just plain rocking out! After the show, he took the time to chat with everyone that wanted to, take some pics and sign autographs. He was in rare form for any artist and such a joy to be around. I cannot wait to see him again!
Great show, great sound, great entertainment! Kip Winger still has a great set of vocal chordsm, not to mention his guitar skills!...We had a great time. I especially enjoyed going up on stage and singing along with my own microphone... The entire experience was unforgettable!... thanx Kip...
kip is clearly talented. one thing that was strong with his show is his connection with his fans. there were many kip winger fans in the crowd and he took time to connect with them, even bringing some onstage during one of the songs. his voice is distinct and he is clearly a talented, skilled, experienced professional. i enjoyed the show.
Kip Winger's performance at the Hayloft was incredible!!! This was my first time seeing him live...WOW!!!! He sounded amazing, the club's acoustics were some of the best I've ever heard. I can't wait to see another show here!!
