Rating: 5 out of 5by Anonymous on 9/20/10Birchmere - Alexandria Rating: 4 out of 5 The show was surprising.
by Mandible on 8/25/10Carolina Theatre - DurhamKim is such an awesome performer. He worked the audience and established a great rapport. I was not expecting Daniel "D." His talent is unbelievable. At such a young age, he had stage presence and genuinely seemed to enjoy himself. Maysa...what can I say? Her talent is so great. I can not wait until she is the headliner of her own show.
Rating: 4 out of 5 Kim and Maysa/ a great combo
by TheSecond on 8/25/10Carolina Theatre - DurhamFour star review of a great Smooth Jazz line up. Kim Waters was silky sweet on his solo's and his band was on point. Maysa was off the chain. Her distinctive tone and melodic voice comforted the theatre like a warm, friendly blanket. She was outstanding. Only reason for not receiving 5 stars was that there appeared to be some technical difficulty with getting her mic set up to carry her voice over the volume of the band. She repeatedly requested an adjustment be made to the sound people off stage to her left but did not seem to achieve what she wanted. It was noticeable initially but appeared to get corrected in the middle of the second song she performed. Overall the event was outstanding and we enjoyed the chemistry of the two artists when they were on stage together.
Rating: 5 out of 5 Double D Stole the Show
by bwiz on 8/24/10Carolina Theatre - DurhamKim Waters was at his usual best and Maysa did not disappoint with her cool, mello voice. However, the person that stole the show was young and talented Daniel "D" (Davis) who displayed such talent playing a blend of smooth jazz, classical and hip hop on the violin. The audience raved and gave him continous standing ovations. Daniel D is one to look out for. At 21 years of age he displays a mature talent that one would expect from a seasoned musician.
Rating: 4 out of 5 Great show
by looneytoone on 8/24/10Carolina Theatre - DurhamGreat show by Kim Waters and Maysa was outstanding. Great energy. Both very creative. Maysa took the show to the next level. Surprise opening act Daniel D was outstanding. Sound and emcees left something more to be desired and stops this from being a five star show.
Rating: 5 out of 5 The entire show was excellent
by NewLook52 on 8/23/10Carolina Theatre - DurhamSince this was my first jazz show I was speechless. My friend and I couldn't have asked for a better show. Can't wait for David Sanborn and guess in October. 5 stars and more.

Rating: 5 out of 5 KIm/ Maysa
by Shelliep on 8/23/10Carolina Theatre - DurhamThe show was excellent. That was my first time seeing Kim in concert and he was excellent. Smooth Jazz at its best. As always Maysa did her thing, with her rich voice that penetrates the soul. Lastly, Daniel the young violinist was awesome.
Rating: 5 out of 5 Kim Waters, Gregg Karukas AND Maysa...WOW!!
by DeeJay12 on 4/20/10Berks Jazz Fest - ReadingThree words...FAB-U-LOUS!!! Sax player with Karukas was all that (a high school music teacher, no less. God bless him!) Kim and Maysa put on a great set. Kim did his thing for his birthday, his brother on bass layed down an awesome solo! Ran into Kim later on having a quiet moment with friends at "Hooters". lol
Rating: 5 out of 5 What a line up!! Stayed for another show.
by MikiSpecial on 3/24/10Berks Jazz Fest - ReadingAWESOME!! Everyone and Gregg Karukas knocked it out the hotel. Add me to the list, will be there next year. Job well done to Berks!
Rating: 5 out of 5 Great Show!
by saxygreeneyes on 3/24/10Berks Jazz Fest - ReadingOpening act - more like opening concert... Gregg Karukas performed a great show on keyboards. His band was really great and really played well for the crowd. We enjoyed hearing about his musical career and great songs on the piano. Then after the intermission it was Kim Waters. Always does a great show. His special guest Maysa had a great voice and was very entertaining. It was Kim's birthday on Saturday, so the special treat after the concert was when Chuck Loeb came on stage with Maysa and they did their own rendition of Happy Birthday. Was a very enjoyable afternoon concert!
Rating: 5 out of 5by HawkPat on 3/22/10Berks Jazz Fest - Reading Kim Waters & Maysa were great, but the opening performance of Greg Karukas brought the house down.

Rating: 5 out of 5 Kim Waters, Maysa and Gregg Karukas were amazing!
by Jazzysl on 3/22/10Berks Jazz Fest - ReadingI absolutely loved this concerts. It was two concerts for the price of one. I had seen Gregg Karukas with other bands, but he was phenomal by himself. I was jamming the whole time. Also, I had seen Kim Waters with The Sax Pack and thought he was great, but just fell in love with him all over again after seeing him and Maysa! I was really a special event.
Rating: 4 out of 5 Baltimore's Best
by fanofsmoothjazz on 3/22/10Berks Jazz Fest - ReadingThis concert without a doubt featured Baltimore's Best Jazz artists. I was totally blown away by Gregg Karukas and his band especially his Brad his saxman, who is a real player. Of course, Kim Waters and Maysa have become the elite jazz artist; playing and singing one great song after another. I was highly recommend that you bring this back again. We'll definitely attend.
Rating: 5 out of 5 Fantastic Performance
by Macdoggie on 3/22/10Berks Jazz Fest - ReadingGregg Karukas and his group were first and tore the house down. His sax player, a Baltimore music teacher full time, was unbelievable in his virtuosity of the sax. The crowd started swaying from the first number through the last set. The group plays together regularly and enjoys doing so, that fact was obvious immediately. When they finished you wondered how could Kim Waters follow this performance. Kim did follow and we were not disappointed. He immediately captured the crowd as we rocked and swayed to his melodic sax alternating romantic slow jams and up tempo tunes. Maysa just blew us away with tunes from her brand new album as well as one or two numbers from her days with Incognito. Her voice is so strong and the use of scat singing thrilled the crowd. Berks Jazz Festival is a must see event.
Rating: 4 out of 5 Totally enjoyable except...
by Jonpam on 3/22/10Berks Jazz Fest - ReadingMaybe it was just me but it appeared that portions of Greg Karukas performance was not live but "memorex". There was a couple songs especially when playing the guitar type keyboard when re he went to his laptop and musci was pre-tape. Again maybe just me but he did by mistake start music too soon and have to rewind tape. I was very disappointed if this is the case as i payed for a total live performance & experience. Reminded my of all the lip scyncing (sp?) revelations some years back in pop music. Would never have expected this to happen in live Jazz.
Rating: 5 out of 5 Greg Karukas Stole the Show
by Ahiketodo on 3/21/10Berks Jazz Fest - ReadingKim Waters and Maysa were as advertised, Gregg Karukas and the band, especially his Saxophone player stole the show. It was worth the price of admission just to here Gregg. I am now a sworn Karukas Fan.
Rating: 5 out of 5 Kim Waters & Maysa with Gregg Karukas at Crowne Pl
by Anonymous on 3/21/10Berks Jazz Fest - Readingawesome event. Gregg Karukas was a treat (new to his music); Kim Waters was great, Maysa was the bonus. The event length was longer than I expected -- totally worth the money I spent.
