KILLSWITCH ENGAGE IN CONCERT:

Metalcore band Killswitch Engage have made a name for themselves with their heart-stopping combination of sophistication and brutality. At their live shows, the band lays out a riff-heavy onslaught of guitars combined with dynamic vocals that range from bloodcurdling shrieks to low-pitch death growls as they pummel through tracks like "My Curse" and "Holy Diver." In the middle of all this unrelenting intensity is band frontman Jesse Leach, oozing a degree of snarling ferocity that is sure to please metal-heads and hardcore kids alike at the band's 2014 tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Westfield, MA metalcore pioneers Killswitch Engage were born in 1999 out of the figurative ashes of other hardcore bands and the literal ashes of Massachusetts' post-industrial Pioneer Valley. Their 2000 self-titled debut album on indie metal label Ferret immediately resonated with fans and nabbed rave reviews, earning them a spot on tour with fellow metal act In Flames. With the 2004 release of third album The End of Heartache, the band truly reached new heights, landing on the Billboard 200 and earning a 2005 Grammy nomination for Best Metal Performance. Overall, the band has released six studio albums, selling over four million records in the US and becoming a touring staple on the international metal circuit.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"An awesome show!!! Sang along to every song! Jesse did a great job singing old and new songs!"

"The sound was amazing. Great bands all around. Killswitch was on a whole other level!"

"As a new fan of Killswitch Engage I wasn't totally up to date on all of their stuff...But even without knowing all of their songs I was really feeling their show. The best part of the event was the closing ...so emotional it was perfect!"

  • KS+Orbit Room=Great Show

by hurrayisawthem on 7/28/09Orbit Room - Grand RapidsRating: 5 out of 5

I dont know where to begin with this show...I was unfamiliar with te opening bands. WHite chapel was pretty brutal. lol they had some skinny white dude as their singer and then he opens up and sounds like hes calling all of the demons from hell. That was kinda cool. I dont remember much about the 2nd band, I guess i was too busy crowd surfing and moshing. I and I imagine alot of other folks were really there to see Killswitch of course. Id recently bought a special edition of their latest cd with the live material on it and I was struck by how perfect the songs sounded. Without a doubt, they do not disappoint. The songs sounded great, they worked the crowd I dont know how else to say it

  • Killswitch Engage puts on another amazing show!!

    by marktremonti03 on 7/28/09Orbit Room - Grand RapidsRating: 5 out of 5

The show last night at the Orbit Room was just unreal. Whitechapel and Job For a Cowboy played flawlessly, and got the place moving. But the whole place erupted when Killswitch took the stage. Every time they come to Grand Rapids, they pack the place. It was just an awesome show, and they had a great mix of classic Killswitch and new material. I would say to anyone who hasn't seen them that they are missing out. Can't wait till they come back to Grand Rapids!!

  • Killswitch was AWESOME!!!!!

    by Xavius21 on 7/28/09Orbit Room - Grand RapidsRating: 5 out of 5

Best band I've ever seen live, hands down. They had crazy energy and it just seemed to sweep over the crowd. Every song they played had the crowd jumping around, and with every Killswitch concert Adam D. was awesome with his hilarious comments!

  • Killswitch Engage was the show

With all the great bands that played that night Killswitch clearly stole the show.

  • KillSwitch Engage was great

The whole show was great except for the wall of death they stole from Hemlock.

  • Killswitch was awesome live!!

by DjKryptkeeper on 7/18/09House of Blues Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

I am a very huge of the HOB. I am also a huge fan of Killswitch. Put the two together, and it was an amazing show. Not to mention, the opening acts of ATR, Job for a Cowboy and Whitechapel helped.

  • Get me out of here!!!

by SINIZTR on 7/18/09House of Blues Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 2 out of 5

I can honestly say that I couldn't wait to get out of House of Blues last night. The bands rocked (for the most part), but the atmosphere was virtually unbarable. Out of probably 15 shows or so that I've seen at HOB, this one was BY FAR the most crowded. You couldn't bend over to tie your shoe without knocking at least two underage emo kids over. To call the show "uncomfortable" is an understatement. Kids as far as the eye could see were crammed into every nook and cranny of the venue. I say "kids", because probably 3 out of every 5 people were brought there by their parents...by the looks of it, most of the adults were probably brought by their parents too. Maybe I'm just getting older, but it looked like "Loserfest" was in town. Eye shadow, mascara, pink hair, and skinny jeans were everywhere...and I'm referring to the "males" at the show. Punks were pushing their way through the crowds with VERY FEW "excuse me's" to be heard. I lost what little faith I had for left the upcoming generation last night. If that's the "future", then we are in for a world of hurt! Aside from the quality of the average show-goer, the sheer numbers were inexcusable. Had a fire started, there would have likely been hundreds of deaths...there was NOWHERE to move or get away. I will NEVER go to another "all ages" show at the House of Blues. I can honestly say that the environment was probably the worst that I've ever encountered at a live show (having seen 50 shows or so). Also, having four bands is overkill in my opinion...the show is too long and I end up not really even caring about the final act because my feet hurt so badly. Since I've made it clear how uncomfortable things were, let me mention the reason for being there...the bands. I wasn't a big fan of White Chapel...just a bunch of noise in my opinion. Job For a Cowboy was pretty good...I may try to listen to more in the future. All That Remains was one of my main reasons for going, and they didn't disappoint. Even with a backup drummer, they still rocked the house. It was made even better when I saw Vinny Paul hanging out backstage at the show...a rock god was in the house! Finally Killswitch came on, and they didn't disappoint. All of my foot pain and annoyance towards the youth went away for about 45 minutes or so. They put on a great show and I can definitely recommend them. They had horribly annoying outfits on (all in tuxedo shirts), but when you rock that hard I guess you can wear whatever you want to. All in all, I can say "good job" to the bands...and "what were you thinking" to the House of Blues for over-selling the show so badly. And to the parents of many of these kids...I can say "great job" (sarcastically)...wow the number of douchebags in this World is going through the roof; you should be proud!

  • there was music?

by Mitchw on 7/17/09House of Blues Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 2 out of 5

There were many problems with this event. 1. The time between groups playing was unbearable. Between the first opener, and the second opener, I had enough time to wait around, leave, go to the food court and eat, wait in line AGAIN, and still waited around unil I was bored out of my mind. When Killswitch came on, I thought they were another opening act, or sound testers, because they were so bored and unenthusiastic. Job For A Cowboy was more into it, and they were an opener. 2. OVERSOLD. Too may people! It took me 20 min to wade through the crowd to get into the floor. 3. Everything was either slippery or sticky. 4. Hotter than hell. 5. Killswitch, the headliner, was terrible. They didn't care, and the fans didn't care. Boo. 6. 80 % of the crowd looked like they were auditioning for "I can't believe shes dating him" or "tool academy".

  • Great Show

  • Killswitch Engage Rocked it!!!

by ConcertHopper on 7/17/09House of Blues Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

Killswitch was simply amazing. I knew when it was in the House of Blues I had to go. Didnt get to see the other bands b/c I drove out from California and barely made it to see Killswitch Engage. Overall, the greatest show I ever seen Killswitch perform.

  • Amazing

Though I didn't stay for KSE, JFAC and Whitechapel where phenomenal. Definitely the best performances I've seen from either of them.

  • Killswitch Engage: Sold out says it all

by Roxy1168 on 7/17/09House of Blues Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

Absolutely rocked it HOB Las Vegas, completely sold out. The music speaks for itself as far as experience. Was an all ages show though, felt like I was too old with all the teens around me and it was packed wall to wall.

  • Insane

Two words- FRICKEN INSANE! Great energy and the vibe was awesome. And naturally, the pit for a KSE show was NUTS.

  • Killswitch Engaged Rocked the House...of Blues!

by Mellv on 7/17/09House of Blues Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

Four bands rocked the house (White Chapel, Job for Cowboy, All that Remains, Killswitch Engaged). Killswitch Engaged sold the show and rocked it out. The venue kicks ass and it was awesome.

  • Killswitch Engage was awesome.

  • Killswitch Rocked!

by Zahlmeister on 7/17/09House of Blues Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

I really didn't know what I was expecting seeing KSE live for the first time. I was very pleased with the show. The opening bands were a little over the top for KSE, but by the time KSE came on stage alot of people were already wore out. Their show was full of energy and flash and for the size of the venue they put on a full stage presence and more! I would like to see them at Mayham if I get a chance.

  • KSE rocked the House

This was an amazing concert! All the bands were great but KSE ruled the show. Not only does their music rock but they are great entertainers...
