Get me out of here!!!
by SINIZTR on 7/18/09House of Blues Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 2 out of 5I can honestly say that I couldn't wait to get out of House of Blues last night. The bands rocked (for the most part), but the atmosphere was virtually unbarable. Out of probably 15 shows or so that I've seen at HOB, this one was BY FAR the most crowded. You couldn't bend over to tie your shoe without knocking at least two underage emo kids over. To call the show "uncomfortable" is an understatement. Kids as far as the eye could see were crammed into every nook and cranny of the venue. I say "kids", because probably 3 out of every 5 people were brought there by their parents...by the looks of it, most of the adults were probably brought by their parents too. Maybe I'm just getting older, but it looked like "Loserfest" was in town. Eye shadow, mascara, pink hair, and skinny jeans were everywhere...and I'm referring to the "males" at the show. Punks were pushing their way through the crowds with VERY FEW "excuse me's" to be heard. I lost what little faith I had for left the upcoming generation last night. If that's the "future", then we are in for a world of hurt! Aside from the quality of the average show-goer, the sheer numbers were inexcusable. Had a fire started, there would have likely been hundreds of deaths...there was NOWHERE to move or get away. I will NEVER go to another "all ages" show at the House of Blues. I can honestly say that the environment was probably the worst that I've ever encountered at a live show (having seen 50 shows or so). Also, having four bands is overkill in my opinion...the show is too long and I end up not really even caring about the final act because my feet hurt so badly. Since I've made it clear how uncomfortable things were, let me mention the reason for being there...the bands. I wasn't a big fan of White Chapel...just a bunch of noise in my opinion. Job For a Cowboy was pretty good...I may try to listen to more in the future. All That Remains was one of my main reasons for going, and they didn't disappoint. Even with a backup drummer, they still rocked the house. It was made even better when I saw Vinny Paul hanging out backstage at the show...a rock god was in the house! Finally Killswitch came on, and they didn't disappoint. All of my foot pain and annoyance towards the youth went away for about 45 minutes or so. They put on a great show and I can definitely recommend them. They had horribly annoying outfits on (all in tuxedo shirts), but when you rock that hard I guess you can wear whatever you want to. All in all, I can say "good job" to the bands...and "what were you thinking" to the House of Blues for over-selling the show so badly. And to the parents of many of these kids...I can say "great job" (sarcastically)...wow the number of douchebags in this World is going through the roof; you should be proud!
