Killing Joke.. what can be said? They're the best live act I've seen by far. The band commands your attention and energy. By mid-show I swear almost the entire venue was moving. I will see them again.. and again and again!

I have seen Killing Joke many times over the years and my thoughts on this gig is that the overall sound wasn't that great. I did enjoy seeing them at this venue,I was just in front of the sound board so the overall sound should have been great but unfortunately it wasn't. the light show was good.

    Epicocity, at Last

by anaginghipster on 5/7/13The Fonda Theatre - Hollywood

I've been a long-time fan of Killing Joke, following them from the release of What's This For? and was hooked by the first notes. Seeing a band live always connects you with the artists in a way that vinyl just can't accomplish, as you are privy to the songs that the band wants to showcase. This was my first opportunity after being a fan for 30+ years to experience that connection and they didn't disappoint. Jaz has an amazing ability to convey his angst, passion and energy through his performance and the music itself had the ability to soncially shatter any barrier you may have entered the venue with. The band focused most of their performance on early releases, with the bulk of the songs coming from their first three albums, but the early, raw songs didn't lack any oomph that their later releases carried and all were pulled off with the same explosive power. After 30 years, it was a musical milestone for me to finally witness their energy live.

KILLING JOKE's intensity shared by audience!

by MrMaxMeanie on 4/23/13Irving Plaza powered by Klipsch - New York

I've seen KILLING JOKE seven times and each time they've brought an intensity that not many bands have. The set list is always eclectic. From their vast catalog, you never know what they'll play but they do hit points from every stage of their career. The crowd shares in that intensity from their reactions whether applause, moshing or crowd surfing, And afterwards you'll see perfect strangers embrace and shake hands. KILLING JOKE brings out that joy and warmth of humanity in their audiences. Definitely recommend you see them when they play live again.

The Gatherings get better and better

by amg56 on 4/21/13Irving Plaza powered by Klipsch - New York

Killing Joke finally started playing live the material from their album Extremities. The band is normally extolled for their singles from Nighttime, but for me, it's their later material that is most impressive. The heavier songs were an inspiration to generations of industrial bands that followed. The muscular tone was in full force at this show. Killing Joke is the rare band that gets better with age.

Ain't no Joke, Killing Joke's unforgettable show.

by sketchylines on 12/25/10Showbox at the Market - Seattle

I must have been fifteen when I got there fist record, I enjoyed hearing it in it's entirety agian, on a cold Wednessday night in December. Killing Joke played the Sowbox Marketplace. First I have to say the staff and support from security was top rate. The Venue itself is roomy and classy, the sound is the best. I remember thinking they play too loud, I used ear plugs.. Jaz Coleman was respectable sounding (screaming) . I did notice his voice give up a little on tracks like "the Wait". Gordie missed the intro on the "Wait" too. One technical difficulty when the cord came loose from Gordie's guitar. This caused him to loose his cool with the hired stage hand. Otherwise they played with exceptional flair . The drummer really drove the show putting out a massive effort to hit every beat. The bass player did well filling the shoes of the former (rip) "The Raven". A keyboard of some kind was used to synthesize sound on many tracks. I enjoyed seeing and hearing one of my all time favorite bands! I Will definitely recomend this venue to friends, Thanks.

Killing Joke - Still crazy after all these years!

by Deeknow on 12/21/10The Regency Ballroom - San Francisco

Jaz Coleman was awesome. What a Psycho! 5 Stars for Killing Joke only. The venue gets 1 star. The Grand Regency Ballroom's acoustics or sound engineer blows. Consistently! I always swear I will never go back and I forget because they usually have a cool band roll through there. This was definitely the last show I will attend. I will drive to Los Angeles or else where if I really have to see an act.

    Great band, good set

by OhYouKnow on 12/21/10The Regency Ballroom - San Francisco

It was great to see Jaz and Geordie, and the very welcome return of Big Paul; sadly, there was no Youth, but he was adequately replaced by some metal looking dude. The crowd was clearly excited and active, but it wasn't nearly as crazy as the SF show back in 2003 (in a smaller venue and filled with some very rough customers). Songs were pulled from 6 of their albums, including nearly the entire first album. I would've loved to hear anything from Revelations, Brighter Than a Thousand Suns, or Hosannas from the Basements of Hell. This band has a deep, excellent catalog; go out and get buy all of their albums and then come up with your fantasy setlist. However, a Killing Joke show in the US is still an amazing thing not to be missed.

I would follow Jaz thru the apocalypse

by mamajax on 12/21/10The Regency Ballroom - San Francisco

An amazing show - tunes mostly from first 2 records. Fans went crazy; the band was tight and classic. They channel a vital, animistic force and they have still got it. One of the best shows i saw this year.

Killing Joke - The ultimate Yin and Yang

by LeftyZappa on 12/21/10The Regency Ballroom - San Francisco

I was totally blown away. Killing Joke is the only band I know of who are all pushing 60 who can generate enough intensity to knock you FLAT from start to finish. They have only gained power in their maturity and most people have never even heard of them. The thing about this band you have to understand is that THEY MEAN IT. You will be drawn through a full gamut of emotions. You WILL feel terror if you read their lyrics. You WILL feel joy when you begin to realize the point of all of the psychosis is to dispel apathy. Freedom in a pure and completely original musical expression. At one point Jaz asked: "How many of you voted for Mrs. Palin? Come on I know you all think with your dicks." A lot of laughing and "fuck no!" replies from the audience. Before the final encore we sang happy birthday to Geordie. A very special night to me. Killing Joke only come to the U.S. every couple of years if we are lucky. If you ever get a chance to see them - don't be a fool - go...

    Wow...our *sses were kicked!

by Alwave on 12/20/10The Regency Ballroom - San Francisco

I knew they'd be good, but they were GREAT...sounded terrific, in great spirits, and it was a spiritual night as a result. A celebration of music, thought, memories of lives departed, and lives at risk if we stay the present course. If you enjoy ripping guitar riffs, Geordie delivers effortlessly, while Jaz hits emotional and gutteral tones which scream belief to his core being, while stomping the stage like an angry child defying his parents..a perfect metaphor. Bassist was a stand-in, but did a terrific job driving and expanding the tempo, and Paul brought the entire group together with surgical strike precision on the kit, and complimenting Jaz's vocals at crucial moments. It was a brief, too brief moment of sheer perfection: energy, purpose, and exquisite sonic delivery.

Killing Joke will eat your babies!

by Velvetpixel on 12/18/10Wonder Ballroom - Portland

Killing Joke put on another unforgettable show at the Wonder Ballroom in Portland Oregon. On tour in the United States for the first time since their long time bassist Paul Raven passed away they still capture the power and intensity that has made them such an influence for decades on so many other bands.
