I had heard this band previously, but with limited exposure. I was delighted last night. Kevin talked between each song and established a nice rapport with the audience. He also stayed after the show and signed autographs. The band was good and I would recommend seeing him. I'll sure go again!!
It was great to see one of my favorite actors in such an intimate setting such as the MN Zoo Ampitheater. There's something about summertime in Minnesota and outdoor concerts that are so much fun. The people I sat around were SO much fun and Kevin was AMAZING!! SO down to earth. He told stories about the songs before he sang them, it felt very personal. And he stayed around afterward to sign autographs.
It was a snoozer of a concert. Modern West, mediocre. Kevin Costner's singing and the original songs just didn't seem to work together.
My husband and I have seen Kevin and his band twice now. This show was even better than the last one. We think Kevin's showmanship and ease on stage is really coming thru. The show was alot of fun and enjoyed hearing his stories inbetween the songs. He is a GREAT Entertainer. He signed alot of autographs after the show and it was so nice to see that. The rest of the band also was great. He has a violin player that is fantasic! Great show Kevin!
Costner's opening act had an amazing vocal range! I have been in the music business for 30 years and SHE was an unexpected pleasure! Costner himself, was amazingly endearing and the audeince loved him for who he is. Talent wise not bad. Vocals were a bit lacking but the focus there was put on the band as a whole.
The songs are all original and the voices not bad. Kevin is enthusiastic in his performing and connects with the audience. The opening act Lindi Ortega was excellent.
It was fun to see Kevin Costner in a different venue. He certainly seems to enjoy what he's doing. However, he doesn't have the greatest voice in the world. If his name wasn't Kevin Costner I'm not sure how far he'd get. After a bit many of the songs sounded the same, but everyone seemed to be having a very good time and were enjoying themselves. The open air venue at the zoo is a lot of fun, as long as you bring a cushion for the hard seats!
Kevin Costner and Modern West were excellent. Kevin was very down to earth and engaged the crowd.
Costner put on a great show and was very thankful to his audience for attending the show. My family and I had a great time at the show. Both of the opening acts were great as well!
Not only did he sing from his heart, he played to each and everyone of us in the audience. He made you feel that he was "the lucky one" to be there. Very gracious and genuine. Thanks Kevin and the band!
Was not sure what to expect when I heard Kevin Costner had a band and he was lead singer. The band was phenomenal! The musicians of Modern West are very talented and the music was great! Only criticism would be that at times band was so loud you could not hear Kevin or anyone else singing. Kevin is an ok singer and sounds best when singing harmony with others.
I Thought the show was amazing. Being a Kevin Costner fan his music makes him more real. I love how he sings from his heart. I was in front row leaning on the stage. Many times during his singing he put his hand to his heart and it made you think he was singing to you personally. He is such a down to earth person. His band is also amazing John Coinman guitarist, Teddy Morgan, lead guitarist and also Bobby Yang on fiddle was really good. Enjoyed it very much.
It was am amazing show, and a very inimate venue. We were very close to the stage, and the music was very good. Afterwards, outside, Kevin Costner was nice enought to stop and talk to a handful of us, and he even signed autographs and hugged us!!! A very wonderful experience!
I would say you would have to be a real Kevin Costner fan to go again. It is hard to go see a band that you don't know the music. The songs were good, but the band was was too conservative...not enough showmanship. I did like the chinese guy playing the violin, he had some spark. Overall, I did enjoy the show, but the husband was dragged along anyway, and I would not drag him again. But I'm glad I went, I did have a good time.
Good show, great warm up band. Bar was good and Northern Lights was easy to get to. Will go to more shows there.
Awesome concer! I hope more people start to follow and not just to see Kevin!! But.....where was the backyard song! I even had my "Kevin..in my backyard" pin on.
Outstanding ! Well worth the trip from CT. I have enjoyed immensely Kevin's movies. I was happy not to be disappointed in his new journey into country music.
took my wife to see kevin costner and modern west for the second time and he was just as good as the first time.would like to see him at a venue closer to long island.
i would definately go see kevin costner and modern west again i loved every second of the show.
I mostly came to see Costner, caring little about the music. He was warm, funny, and he can sing! The music was quite good, but the sound system wasn't the greatest, and the opening act was WAY too long and loud. Costner fan or music fan go see this act. But be warned... they started late and there's an opening act. Show was scheduled for 8:30 and Costner didn't appear til 10:00.
