Kentucky Wildcats Women’s Basketball History
The University of Kentucky first fielded a women’s basketball team in 1902, but the team officially became a varsity program in 1974. The Wildcats qualified for their first March Madness run in 1982 and reached the Elite Eight. That same year, the team secured their first conference tournament championship. Under head coach Matthew Mitchell, the Wildcats returned to the Elite Eight in 2010, 2012 and 2013 and secured their first regular season title in the Southeastern Conference. Coach Kyra Elzy, who joined the team in 2020, led Kentucky to their second SEC tournament championship in 2022.

Kentucky Wildcats Women’s Basketball at Memorial Coliseum
The Kentucky Wildcats women’s team competes at Memorial Coliseum, which opened in 1950 as the University of Kentucky’s primary athletic center. The men’s and women’s basketball teams shared the facility until the completion of Rupp Arena in 1976, and Memorial Coliseum now houses four of the school’s women’s teams: basketball, volleyball, gymnastics and STUNT. In 2022, Memorial Coliseum underwent extensive renovations, relocating the women’s basketball team temporarily to Rupp Arena and Transylvania University's Clive M. Beck Center.
other than having trouble finding a place to park the game was great
Memorial Colesium is the best of both worlds! It’s a wonderful throw back to games of the past-The bleachers are wood with the number painted on the seat. And up to date with technological abilities that include a mega screen on the visitor’s end. Because it is Kentucky b-ball, the place is full but comfortable. Just a fabulous atmosphere for true fans!
great game uk vs south carolina ,great arena ,great staff
I love Rupp Arena for basketball games, and I was fortunate to have seats close to the floor within earshot of the Tennessee bench. Sitting courtside gave my daughter and I a new perspective as to how fast the game and the athletes actually are. The tickets were a birthday/Christmas present for my daughter and they did not disappoint.
Louisville 87, Kentucky 63. A memorable afternoon at a famous historical venue. This was my first time attending a sporting event at the coliseum...I would highly recommend that the avid basketball buff visit “The House that Rupp Built” for a nostalgic visit into the past along w/enjoying some action-packed Sports. 5 stars*****!!!
I had a great time watching my UL Lady Cardinals beat the UK Wildcats. Loved getting to meet many of the players and their families. Great venue. I loved being close to the action.
Don't understand why when buying tickets it shows so many seats not available, but when you get to the game a lot of better seats available. Why can we not purchase these better seats????? Do not like this when buying seats. Would go to more games if better seats were made available for purchase.
We bought the tickets for my daughters birthday. It was a great experience. She loved the game.
We took 2 of our granddaughters and they loved it!
Love going to the game and getting the emails for purchasing tickets, but don't understand why so many empty seats in better viewing and they are not made available for purchase. I understand some may have been purchased, but I doubt all had.
Game was awesome! Seats were awesome! Love when the girls play at Rupp! They should play there more often!
Seats were very good to have purchased them late and game ended up being sold out. Fun time.
We had a great time watching this UK Women's game and hope that they play more games at Rupp Arena. The venue was wonderful and I will continue to visit it again and again.
Excellent game. Good view of court. Easy access to seats.
Was very convenient to already Have my tickets prior to the game.
The UK women were awesome. They played hard and beat a great SC team. Go Big Blue!!!!
Great game, historic venue, easy to get into and around, nice campus
We had an amazing time and will be going back! The seats were great and the energy at the game was awesome!
This was our 2nd game, we have already purchased tickets for our 3rd.
We purchased 47 tickets for game at Memorial Coliseum. We were placed on the last 4 rows. We couldn't see the score or scoreboard clock because of lighting. Coliseum's temperature was also too hot.
