KELLER WILLIAMS IN CONCERT:

Jam master Keller Williams is the kind of performer who's so rare and so multitalented audiences will be raving about him for years to come. In concert Williams bounces around the stage while conjuring up infectious grooves one sound at a time through virtuosic looping -- a technique that allows him to recreate the sound of a full band onstage by crafting intricate arrangements with a variety of instruments. It's a skill that he's perfected over the course of his nearly 25-year career, and it's as mesmerizing as ever during his unmissable performances. Whether he's playing alone or with one of his several backing bands, ticket buyers are treated to high-energy, feel-good shows that showcase Williams' quirky songwriting, joyous stage persona, and masterful musicianship.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Since first appearing on the scene in the early '90s, Virginia native Keller Williams has earned a glowing reputation as a one-man jam band. Williams is a self-taught musician who grew up heavily influenced by artists like The Grateful Dead and guitar virtuoso Michael Hedges, and by genres ranging from bluegrass and reggae to electronica. Throughout his career Williams has fused all of those inspirations together to create genre-bending music that is astoundingly innovative. He's toured with several popular jam bands -- including Umphrey's McGee, Yonder Mountain String Band, and The String Cheese Incident -- and wowed crowds at festivals like Bonnarroo, AllGood, and Rothbury. Beginning with his 1995 debut album Freek, Williams has made more than 20 records, both as a solo artist and as a collaborator with acts such as The Travelin' McCourys, More Than A Little, The String Cheese Incident, and The Keels. With an ever-growing fanbase and tons of talent to spare, Keller Williams is a thrilling live act concertgoers won't want to miss.

    Keller's new diverse show

    by JamFan44 on 2/19/10Variety Playhouse - Atlanta

Keller has always been incredible at looping and is very talented at string instruments. But now, with some new toys of his, his shows combine folk, bluegrass, electronica, and DJ'ing characteristics. Definitely a different tone to years past with more electronic aspects, which is a nice addition to his show. Highlights of this show: A bluegrass and electronica mix of "Another Brick in the Wall", A mixed up "Play This," an awesome cover of Gnarls Barkley's "Crazy," and the always entertaining "Gate Crashers Suck."

    kdud does it again

by nosambo on 1/18/10Ogden Theatre - Denver

The perfect Keller show. Just enough instrumentals, jams, dance numbers, and unique original songs. Mosely and Austin were a very welcome surprise. The "Pfunk Jam" was expected because I am sure he would have been at the George Clinton show at the Fillmore if he could have been. The light show was stellar and an excellent addition. The only down side was that the Ogden has quite a few spots with zero stage visability. Thankfully I have seen enough Keller shows that I do not have to stare at the stage but it is nice to be able to see him build the songs and then stop to cut the rug with the rest of us. Overall and outstanding Keller show and it was exactly what I needed.

    by hatfield1013 on 1/17/10Ogden Theatre - Denver

Show was phenomenal. Keller never ceases to impress. The highlight was definitely being treated to Mosley and Austin coming out to jam with Keller, but the entire show was classic Keller brilliance!

    Keller was a good performance

    by Monke372 on 12/31/09The National - Richmond

At times, some of the instrumentals were LONG and caused a bit of boredom, but his performance was awesome. It lasted about 3 hours, and was worth the money.

Great show - he opened with a lot of looping and play that would lead into some great songs by him. He made sure to play Gatecrashers Suck (Dark Star played here last night =) Second set he came out with a band and played everything from origionals to a few Pearl Jam songs! Awesome show - what a freakin goofball, I smiled the whole time. Go see Keller!

Masterpiece! Keller Williams show - A masterpiece

    by DoesItReallyMatter9691 on 12/31/09The National - Richmond

Honestly I had never really heard much of Keller Williams. I could tell by the energy of the crowd that I must be at a good show. Wow! A 3.5 hour masterpiece. Totally amazing. A musical wonder. After I realized the sounds he created were not just a back up track and the mix he put together I was able to really get into it. BTW that took half of the first song. Totally looking forward to buying some of his music and seeing him again in Richmond!

I love Keller Williams, and liked that Barnes dude on the banjo playing with him. Some killer bluegrass versions of old and new songs. Wished he would have done the classics, like Freaker by the Speaker and Kidney in a cooler..

    Keller Williams @ the Aladdin

by CDogfromtheWestside on 12/7/09Aladdin Theater - Portland

I thought the show was good but I think Keller should be a front man with a band behind him. It's hard to hold a audence for 2+ hours by yourself no matter how much electronic gagets are employed. Don't get me wrong I think Keller is a awesome talent but when he hooked up with Danny Barnes for a couple of songs they tore it up.

    Another fabulous show!!

    by MsWatch1 on 12/4/09Aladdin Theater - Portland

Danny Barnes and Keller Williams are truly outstanding players. It was amazing how Keller used several forms of instrumentation to carry out his songs. He used a guitar synthesizer, bass, acoustic guitar, and keys! He turns "Dead" songs into his own bluegrass flavor. Danny Barnes brought in traditional bluegrass with his amazing banjo tricks and riffs. I would go again in a second! It was especially great to see them at The Aladdin where the acoustics are more intimate and you can see the show from all parts of the venue.
