About

Pioneering the New Jack Swing style fusing electro-hip-hop production and contemporary urban R&B, Harlem, New York’s Keith Sweat became one of the most popular R&B/soul producers, singers and songwriters of the late ‘80s and ‘90s. He sang in nightclubs throughout New York City until he was discovered and signed with Elektra Records in 1987, releasing his debut solo studio album Make It Last Forever and selling three million copies with the smash single “I Want Her.” Sweat’s second album, 1990’s I'll Give All My Love to You hit No. 6 on the Billboard 200 chart, and spawned the singles” I’ll Give All My Love to You” and “Make You Sweat.” He also put out the single “(There You Go) Tellin' Me No Again” from the New Jack City soundtrack, and released his third album Keep It Comin’ in 1991, debuting in the top 20 and featuring the hits “Keep It Comin’” and “Why Me Baby” with LL Cool J. 1994’s Get Up and 1996’s self-titled album both reached the Billboard top ten, selling over a million copies each of sexy and soulful singles “Nobody” and “Twisted.”  In that late ‘90s and ‘00s, Sweat kept his fans moving with Still in the Game in 1998, Rebirth in 2002, Just Me in 2008, and his latest Til the Morning in 2011. After playing concerts in South America in late 2013, he’s embarking on a US tour in 2014 and launching the Sweat Hotel Cruise for ticket buyers in April 2014 for eight days through the Caribbean.

Great Show; However, the Lyric Needs New Mgmt!

by LadyJ611 on 8/9/09Lyric Opera House - Baltimore

Overall the concert was great. Tevin Campbell still has it; however, he started 20-25 minutes late and seemed unprepared (what do you expect with someone who has not toured in over a decade). I believe since Tevin got started late, he was limited to a few songs. I was a bit disappointed. Nevertheless, after listening to Noel Gourdin, I felt he more than compensated us for Tevin's lack of showmanship. I must confess, prior to the concert, I thought Noel Gourdin had only one song, "The River" boy ...was I wrong. I recommend everyone purchase his CD.If you haven't listened to Noel Gourdin's music, you are definitely missing out. His vocals are incredible. The local radio stations need to show this up and coming artist some love by playing his music. Finally, Keith Sweat...what is there to say? Keith always puts on an excellent show. I love all his songs. Couldn't stay in my seat during his performance. His new CD should be released soon... can't wait. Although the concert was great, the Lyric theatre was not! This was the third time I have seen the Lyric pull the curtain on a performer, while performing. Keith had to literally say "Stop," to avoid being hit by the curtain in order to thank Baltimore for their continued support. I was livid, Baltimore already has a bad reputation and we don't need the Lyric to validate what is already expected of us. The citizens of Baltimore (especially the Lyric Theatre) need to do whatever it takes to let visitors know what Baltimore is truly about. Baltimore is a great place to live and for the -most part-. the people are friendly. I have tickets to a future event at the Lyric; however, I am going to sell them. If I can help it, I will never attend another event at the Lyric. In my opinion, the management should be fired.

not the normal Keith Sweat show

by luvtiffanys on 8/9/09Lyric Opera House - Baltimore

I am a big Keith Sweat fan and have attended many of his shows. This show was unlike the others. The attendance was very low and the opening acts were awful. I saw Keith in Washington DC last year and the show was awesome. This show lacked energy and it didnt flow well. He didnt get a chance to finish his complete show before they lowered the curtains. Keith Sweat performance was good but and he looked great. This location wasnt a good place for Keith and I hope he never do Baltimore again. Come back to DC were the audience is full of energy. another note the girl that came on the stage was tacky and it was an awful performance, it didnt take a rocket scientist to figure out it was staged. KEITH SWEAT I love you and will go to see you again but never in Baltimore...

    tacky

by cityworker on 8/9/09Lyric Opera House - Baltimore

but this show had poor customer service, dirty bathrooms. even the performers complained about the lightning and etc.. during the performance. When you pay for a show you come to enjoy yourself not to work at the show.

    Sweat

by MrBiggs on 8/9/09Lyric Opera House - Baltimore

Keith sweat put on a good show. Tevin Campbell did a great job dispite not having a band to back him up. Noel Gourdine was ok. The stage crew at the Lyric Opera House did not seem to be very good. Tevin Campbell asked several times to have the light turned out of his face because he could not see..to no avail. KeIth Sweat also had issues with the light crew, Gourdine didnt mention the lights....maybe because he wore sunshades. AT THE END OF THE SHOW THE CREW BROUGHT THE CURTAIN DOWN EVEN THOUGH K. SWEAT WAS STILL ON STAGE PERFORMING!?!

Keith Sweat still got it going on!

by psugumby on 8/9/09Lyric Opera House - Baltimore

While all the opening acts were kinda painful, Keith rocked the house! We didn't stop dancing from the minute he came on stage! Can't believe he still looked so good and sounded great after all these years!

My friend and I truly enjoyed the entire concert. It was good to see Keith Sweat and to also be able to see and hear Montell Jordan and Bell, Biv, Devoe! I really enjoyed going back in time to hear the good old songs.

    Keith Sweat still has it!!!

    by FAAMAA5401 on 8/6/09Celeste Center - Columbus

Keith Sweat's concert at the Ohio State Fair/Celeste Center was great! i have always been a fan of Keith's, he has a number of great songs...that being said i thought his performance was wonderful! i was a little leary on whether or not he would still "have it", but no worries! he came out right at 7 o'clock when the show started, we did not have to wait a second after for him to come out, unlike most other performers!! although i wish he could have played a few more songs than what he did, i most definently would see him again, and also reccommend the show to my friends! Well done Keith Sweat!!

    keith sweat was amazing

    by tabbycat1228 on 8/5/09Celeste Center - Columbus

I loved how the tickets were a decent price and it was a laid back event. I liked that you could take pictures and that they had big projection screens were you could see him even if you were far away. I have seen him three times now and he is just amazing and my favorite, so anytime he is in a 3 hour range from were i live i go see him. Everything was great.

the atmosphere was great. the music sound good and i liked the 3 big screens we were able to see the performance on, since we were kinda far from the stage. the performance was out of sight. i just wished it could have lasted longer and i expected keith to come out to the crowd.

Keith Sweat was true to form

by killerJoe on 8/3/09Celeste Center - Columbus

Keith sweat was tight. He, his band and background singers sounded wonderfully. I was in a state of splendor. I've been wanting to see keith for years and believe me I was not dissapointed. I would most definitely see him again if given the opportunity. The show just was not long enough for me. I would have stayed all night to hear that brother throw down.

    Crickets Chirping

by Tphenomenal on 8/3/09Celeste Center - Columbus

Event was not well thought through. He is an adult performer that had too many children in attendence so he could not perform at an adult level. He looked good, sounded good, but just did not have the opportunity to have a strong stage performance due to the kids in the audience. If this is the case, there should be age restrictions put on concerts.
