Great Show; However, the Lyric Needs New Mgmt!
by LadyJ611 on 8/9/09Lyric Opera House - BaltimoreOverall the concert was great. Tevin Campbell still has it; however, he started 20-25 minutes late and seemed unprepared (what do you expect with someone who has not toured in over a decade). I believe since Tevin got started late, he was limited to a few songs. I was a bit disappointed. Nevertheless, after listening to Noel Gourdin, I felt he more than compensated us for Tevin's lack of showmanship. I must confess, prior to the concert, I thought Noel Gourdin had only one song, "The River" boy ...was I wrong. I recommend everyone purchase his CD.If you haven't listened to Noel Gourdin's music, you are definitely missing out. His vocals are incredible. The local radio stations need to show this up and coming artist some love by playing his music. Finally, Keith Sweat...what is there to say? Keith always puts on an excellent show. I love all his songs. Couldn't stay in my seat during his performance. His new CD should be released soon... can't wait. Although the concert was great, the Lyric theatre was not! This was the third time I have seen the Lyric pull the curtain on a performer, while performing. Keith had to literally say "Stop," to avoid being hit by the curtain in order to thank Baltimore for their continued support. I was livid, Baltimore already has a bad reputation and we don't need the Lyric to validate what is already expected of us. The citizens of Baltimore (especially the Lyric Theatre) need to do whatever it takes to let visitors know what Baltimore is truly about. Baltimore is a great place to live and for the -most part-. the people are friendly. I have tickets to a future event at the Lyric; however, I am going to sell them. If I can help it, I will never attend another event at the Lyric. In my opinion, the management should be fired.
