  • KC makes your boogie shoes shine!

by HM999 on 8/3/09The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa MesaRating: 4 out of 5

I brought my daughter and her boyfriend to see KC and the Sunshine band for a night of fun and dancing, and the band sure didn't disappoint. Sure he is older and a little out of shape, but that did not deter the great energy of the show. Other concert goers were dressed in 70's disco garb which added to the whole experience. All of the more popular songs were performed. Everyone was up and dancing. It was a great show, and a great crowd. KC even stuck around afterwards to sign autographs for whomever wanted one. That's one cool dude!

A fun show, with music we know by heart. Never a dull moment.

  • Good times for sure!

My boyfriend and I had a blast! The energy, the music, the weather was almost perfect. The band was just as I'd thought...if only the concert was longer than an hour!

  • KC & The sunshine band was fantastic!!!

by socalgal on 8/2/09The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa MesaRating: 5 out of 5

It was nice to go to a concert where the musicians really could play, the singers really could sing, and overall-it was a fun show. The average age in the audience was definitely in the late 40's, early 50's but you saw children and teens with their parents, too. I took my kid and we had a great time dancing-just a fun concert and fun atmosphere in the crowd that came to see them. Evelyn 'champagne' King opened-started smack on the dot the ticket stated-and she was a powerhouse-for an opening act-she had everyone up and dancing and singing and she, herself, just an amazing performance. A true thumbs up all the way around-would highly reccommend for a great night out...and would definitely go back again if they came back to this area. The only thing that was a little annoying-the dancers-I know everyone has dancers these days, but really-could care less...they didn't add to the overall performance. The cost of the tickets, too, were reasonable considering how much concert tickets can cost these days-thank you for that!

What an awesome show! For an old, over-weight guy, he could move. And he even made fun of himself and had a great time performing!

  • Great show for an old dude!

by pnrteach on 8/1/09The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa MesaRating: 4 out of 5

KC is a bit long in the tooth, but it doesn't mean he doesn't put on a great show. His band is superlative. The dancers were amazing. KC seemed to be a little surprised by what he couldn't do. However, being a likable guy, you smile and revel in the boogie music he made so popular in the late seventies. I actually prefer straight rock and roll, but for dance music, this group can't be beat. As an aside: Evelyn Champagne King was funky and displayed a beautiful, melodic, and throaty voice that truly deserved a more intimate venue. The lack of flashy lights and costumes was a noticeable miss. But towards the end of the brief set (5 songs), I didn't want them to leave the stage. They displayed funk at its best. Having grown up on the east coast, I had almost forgotten how I love that funk sound! Woah, they were digging deep in their "soul" at the very end of the set.

  • KC & The Sunshine Band was cool

by HugeAnitaFan on 8/1/09The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa MesaRating: 3 out of 5

KC & The Sunshine Band was cool. There was a lot going on on stage which was cool but I was bit over stimulated and couldn't really focus because of it. Even though KC is old school he sounded the same.

  • I had a great time

by MiiMii on 8/1/09The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa MesaRating: 4 out of 5

This was the second time I went to KC & the sunshine band's concert. I and 3 friends had a great time out there. KC gain a lot of weight and he made some jokes about himself. That was so funny. For example, He explained to young people that he was like their Mother's N'SYNC and Jastin Timberlake will look like KC after 30 years later. (He touched his belly) KC was dancing hard and so we were. Great concert.

  • K.C.& the Sunshine Band will take You Back!

by MusicBandMan on 8/1/09The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa MesaRating: 4 out of 5

K.C.& the Sunshine Band will take you back to the 70's and play most of their songs that you'll definitely know. K.C. does realize he's getting a little older and talks to the audience about it & jokes about it. K.C. works his band & they play here & there to give him a rest between songs.Guys: Your Lady will enjoy this show,So Don't Just Stand There,We're not watching you Shake Your Booty,We are doing it ourselves. You'll Enjoy.

  • KC was good

  • Ultimate Disco Era Performance !!!

by kevinbb1 on 8/1/09The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa MesaRating: 5 out of 5

From the opening of his show to the end, not a seat was occupied. The incredible stage presence and music of KC, his band and dancers wouldt let up long enough only get a quick slurp of a drink and get back to the dance party. Many in the crowd were dressed for the disco concert that was straight out of the era complete with giant mirror ball over the stage. I wasn't a huge fan during the 80's but going to his concert you can't help but to get drawn in with the energy he and his band bring to the music KC sounded as good as his albums. His band and dancers (counted 13 members total) added to the party - all were fantastic. Would definitely recommend seeing him in concert if given the opportunity.
