This is the 2nd RINK OF FIRE championship bout I've attended, and once again, I was amazed! Everything from the singer of the national anthem, team introductions, the halftime, to the very LAST second on the clock! Non-stop entertainment!

    Surprisingly Fun and Family Friendly!!!

by mickeym33 on 7/13/10Municipal Auditorium - Kansas City

This was the first time my family has attended a Roller Derby event. It was something my 6 year old wanted to do for her birthday. Not only was it our immediate family of 4, but 6 other family members (including 2 children under 8). We all had a good time. The women from all 4 teams are amazing skaters and the action is fast paced (read the program they give you at the door, it explains the game if you don't understand it). My daughter wanted a poster of the Knockouts and wanted some of their autographs. Many of the women skate around the crowd on the floor while the other game is going on, so I just went up to them and asked for their autographs. Everyone was super nice. It is hard to believe they can be so tough in the rink.

The KC RollerWarriors kick some mad bootie! These women are fierce and put on a great show! The event is hilarious and casual. I was surprised by how many families were in attendance, but the kids seemed to love it!

What a blast. First time for me but not the last. The whole thing was a giant party and clearly everyone there was committed to having fun! I'll bring a crowd with me next time.

    A surprisingly fun evening's entertainment

by newKCRWfan on 8/24/09Municipal Auditorium - Kansas City

We attended this as a group of ten for a friend's birthday, and I really was not expecting much. But, the girls really worked hard at the roller derby event, and the whole evening was just a fun, relaxed time. Everyone was oriented towards making the audience a part of the action, with the announcers, the teams and the half-time entertainment band all contributing to a surprisingly enjoyable evening. I would recommend this for at least once a season for anyone.

    KC Warriors Rock

by Kalijon on 8/24/09Municipal Auditorium - Kansas City

This was my second time to attend one of the Roller Derby event and have plans to purchase tickets for their last event in September. This is a well kept secret of Kansas City. I have seen little or no advertising for these ladies and it is a thorougly enjoyable family event. The Warriors are very talented skaters and deserve more recognition and acknowledgment for Kansas City. It was nice to see the crowd that was there Saturday with no outside advertising. Satuirday's event was more enjoyable that the previous event for me because it was actually a sanctioned game against Houston. The previous event was a contest amongst the Kansas City leagues, which was good, but hard to choose who to cheer for!

Very entertaining evening, as these roller warriors skated round and round, scoring points, blocking with brutal body blows, speeding past each other, all in one awesome event!

Roller Warriors - Better than I expected

by KCWILL64114 on 8/23/09Municipal Auditorium - Kansas City

I went to see the KC Roller Warriors because I remember seeing Roller Derby on TV ages ago with my dad. Back then it was more ""WWF style". So me and my buddy go there and it was just what I was hoping, cute girls on skates pushing each other around. I was surprised to find couples and kids there. I thought it was mostly a guy thing but was pleased to see that it was actually more family friendly then I thought. There were people up on the balcony but you could also sit right on the rubberized floor that the women skated around on. You could feel the vibrations of the roller skates as they passed by and you were right there on the action. There was this totally hot referee and I had a great view of her each time she skated around. But aside from the aspect of seeing good looking women skate around, I also thought it was legitimate entertainment. The game has simple rules that you can follow and I enjoyed watching the game for the sake of the sport. There were two matches that night. Before the main event, they had this band playing from The School of Rock. I couldn't believe these kids. They were like 7 and 15 years old and they sounded just as good as any band that would play at Westport or Power and Light. Within a few minutes, a good crowd had formed where they were playing off to the side. They had the crowd going and people were jumping, dancing and singing like crazy. By the time they finished it was time for the main event but they had to delay the start because the audience demanded an encore. The Main event was with the KC Roller Warriors and a team from Houston. These girls were more competitive and the action was more intense. There was some "WWF style" of entertainment. For example, they had some announcer for the Houston Team that was dressed in a white suit with a short red tie. His hairstyle and sunglasses screamed "tacky PR Guy" but hey that was his job and he acted the part perfectly. And it was great that the parking garage at Bartle Hall did not charge us anything as we left. Definitely worth the money.

    What's this?

by Judybeth on 7/15/09Municipal Auditorium - Kansas City

It was terrifically noisy. I thought the skaters were great but the announcing was so loud and garbled that it became so upsetting that my friend and I left early. I couldn't understand one word the announcer said. Of course I am 65, so that probably had something to do with it. I was trying to understand how the sport worked but it was hard to keep up with because it went so fast and furiously. I won't be going back.
