About

Junior Boys on Tour

For more than two decades, alternative electric-pop group  have been pioneering and redefining the electro-dance music space. Originally founded in 1999 by Jeremy Greenspan and Johnny Dark, Junior Boys now consists of Greenspan and Matt Didemus. They are set to embark on their next tour in 2023, making stops across Canada and the United States. Inspired by '80s synth pop and post-disco, the group's experimental electronic, glitch-pop sound encompasses any venue they're at with an exciting and unique downbeat experience.

One concertgoer wrote, "Awesome show!! Been listening to Junior Boys for 10 years, waiting and waiting to see them in concert. They did not disappoint! I hope they come back soon!"

Junior Boys' first taste of success came from their 2003 singles "Birthday" and "High Come Down." After these hits, Junior Boys continued their epic music creation. Their first album, Last Exit (2004) was received extremely well, and was followed by their successful second album, So This is Goodbye (2006). The group's next albums were Begone Dull Care in 2009, It's All True in 2011 and Big Black Coat in 2016. Junior Boys released the single "Night Walk" in 2022, off their album Waiting Game.

After starting in Hamilton, Ontario in 1999, Junior Boys made a demo-tape that led to little or no success. Soon after, founding member Johnny Dark left the group. After Dark left, a Junior Boys demo was heard by Nick Kilroy, who signed them as the first artist on his KIN label. Greenspan then met his engineer, Matt Didemus, and the two created their hit singles "Birthday" and "High Come Down." The group maintained a loyal fanbase throughout the early ages of the internet, being written about extensively on a number of blogs. Their popularity was maintained throughout the early 2000s and into the 2010s with their song "So This is Goodbye" being featured in the hit HBO show "Looking" in 2015. The band maintains more than 100,000 monthly Spotify listeners with their most popular hits "Over it," "In The Morning," and "Parallel Lines" having a combined more than 15 million streams.

    Lacklustre

by Gibblesnbitz on 3/7/23The Great Hall - Toronto

I’m a huge fan and was so excited to see them live. I was hoping they’d play a lot of their hits along with some new songs as well. I was ready to bop but instead a lot of what they played was lower energy, slower. Then they played Big Black Coat at the end one of my absolute favourites and It was amazing but we had to wait until the very end for the bop. Then they played in the morning as an encore. And when the instruments started, I got excited again because I love that song. It started off slow and I thought it would pick up and go into the normal version. Like artists usually do with songs, but no, it stayed slow through the whole song which was such a bummer and have no idea why they would play it as a ballad as the last song. So overall yes lacklustre low energy.

Third time I've seen them play, and this was the best

by Their best show yet on 1/27/23The Fillmore - San Francisco

Such a great set, and fantastic energy. Even usually-subdued Jeremy was up and really taking charge of the experience. First, I'm so thrilled that they opened with Playtime. It is literally my favorite song in the world and has been since JB released it in It's All True over a decade ago. This version was gorgeous, slower and even more dreamlike. It was PERFECTION. The rest of their set for the night was also excellent, a mix of their new stuff (like Waiting Game) and classics, like In the Morning. The crowd was there for it. Thank you and please never stop making music, Jeremy and Matt!
